The Lessons of King Hjalmer |
|
Hullo skyrim folks! Figured I'd give you something to munch on. Proceed.
Hjalmer the Wise
Far back in the First Era, when the heirs of Ysgramor himself ruled our
motherland, there was a king named Hjalmer. On a brisk fall day in
Winterhold, as King Hjalmer walked the streets kissing babes and
saluting soldiers, he was approached by a young boy, no less than seven
years old. “Mighty king, sir, I wish to be strong like you, strong like
my brothers and sisters of Sky’rihm [He was obviously of Nibenean
descent] but I am too weak, I lack the willpower to overcome boredom,
let alone armies, and gods. What must I do to become a warrior to be
remembered?”
Hjalmer sat him down on an ersatz ice bench. He wiped frost from his
never-shaven beard and said to the boy, “Know this young man, that
whatever schmaltzy gibberish you are told by poets and authors, our
power does not lie in unity, it does not lie in willpower or physical
prowess, but it lies in our faith, faith in our gods, faith in our
blood, and faith in our hands. We live in a world of myth and of words,
indeed our mouths are stronger than our blades, our minds the deadliest
weapon to ever strike. Beware the power of perception. Know also, that
the tides of war are always churning; always their waves are breaking
against the shores. Prepare always, lest you get drawn into the
never-ending cycle. In, and out. War never ends, for it has never truly
begun. Like the nullified brothers who fought outside the Grey, we will
fight. Know of the faulted creation of man, trust. All men by the
secrets of the convention are bound to their divinity, bound to the
gift [gods forgive my tongue] of The Bad Man. They speak one way but
their lips will twist backwards and say another way, an informal
gluttony of the breath. “
He sighed, and patted the boy on the shoulder, who looked perplexed and distraught. “Disregard me, boy,” he said.

It's Fatherland, not Motherland Brian
And you might aswell change the age of the boy to 6 and allude that it is Wulfharth.
Otherwise cool

He he, I might as well change it to 8+1 years old to drive everyone bat shit crazy.
I'm working on more lessons. This may turn out like the 36 Sermons of Skyrim.

well six is more appropriate, it's the age the Nords were eaten down to
by Alduin, and the age Wulfharth was eaten down to aswell.

New Battery
Mighty King Hjalmer sat upon the pew in the chapel, statues of the
divine towering over him. He began to pray but was interrupted by a
short, stocky priest, accompanied by a tanned elf with hair in eight
braids.
“Hjalmer, heir of Ysgramor, founder of the tides, there is an urgent
matter I wish to speak with you about, the high priests are not as
forgiving as you, surely.” He said, shaking nervously.
Hjalmer nodded, and shook both of their hands. Before he could speak he
was interrupted by the elf, who spoke in an impossibly soothing tone.
“I come from the south, the sundered heart of Tamri-El, surely you know
I speak of Cyrod. I came across this temple, and noticed its foreign
shrines, its texts pertaining to the creation, the connotation of the
convention, and the judgment of the spaceman. When I asked this priest
why his myths differed from ours, and which was true and why, he could
not answer.”
“Surely, you Hjalmer know who is true beyond bias?” said the priest.
Hjalmer bellowed out “Irgola vahan dre Enjen! Surely you know the ways
of the misconstrued and myth-eaten? What did I just tell the sixth boy?”
“Ho-hum, this world is a conduit for the truths of many. What we
believe and what we preach and what is truth has the power to be all
same at once. You ask me whether the heart of Shor was ripped asunder
from love or vengeance? You ask me who pours the sand, the Or of El or
the Aka of Tah, or the All of Winn? Who is right? You ask me who is
right, the men of Niben-Ei, the children of Memoraland, the Yokus, or
the Children of Sithis-Who-Is-Northward? I can tell you with
confidence; they all are right at once.”
“Oh, Gjalka swims faster every day” he cooed in a solemn tone forbidden to say at the time, only to lovers.
