Hey,
I heard the Thieves Guild wasn't as of yet picked up. So here's the plotline.
Plotline
Internal
The Skyrim Thieves Guild is as ruthless as the Nords who inhabit the
land. This means this Thieves Guild is very different than the Cyrodiil
Thieves Guild. The Skyrim branch are killers, extortionists and all
'round trigger happy idiots.
Let's just say not everyone in the Skyrim Thieves Guild likes this, and
well, some of the more pacifistic,
thieving-is-an-art-and-there-is-such-a-thing-as-honour-among-thieves
members aren't really happy with the current rulership of the Guild.
In the beginning of the Thieves Guild questline (1 through 3) you'll
find a very violent Thieves Guild, not very concerned with hiding
themselves from the general public. In Quest 4 this changes, the more
honorable thieves band up and stage a coup against the old regime. In
Quest 4 you'll be ordered to steal a certain item, but when you get
there you find a Thieves Guild member - Flin from Quest 3 - who says
you only got this mission to distract you and get you away from the
Boss.
The thief will give you the option to help fight the old regime, or
wait untill the old boss is dead and you'll be forced to obey the new
regime. Either way, the thief brings you back to the guildhall and
you'll find the old boss dead and the new boss very alive and kick'n.
The new boss is a pretty nice Khajiit with some sharp dialogue.
External
(This plotline starts from Quest 4)
For the first time ever, the Thieves Guild has taken an official,
Imperial job. The job entails finding and retrieving the Amulet of
Soldin. So why does the new unorthodox Imperial Guard Commander care so
much about this amulet? Well, the answer is complex.
The Nords are primarily warriors, and the things warriors respect are
symbols, souvenirs of battles won. When the Imperial Legion conquered
Skyrim, one of the last battles was against the warlord Soldin. Tiber
Septim then decided to do something in the Nord spirit: after he
defeated the army of Soldin and took him prisoner he fought him in the
Pit. Tiber Septim won - reputedly using Thu'um - and took Soldin's
Amulet as trophy.
From that moment, the Nord warriors respected the Imperial rule, to an
extent. With the recent Oblivion crisis and the death of the Emporer,
the Imperial influence on the Nords has dramatically decreased and if
the theft of the amulet comes out; the new Imperial Commander will be
thought of as incompetent and that can have horrible consequences.
The plotline will be featured in two or three quests of the in total 8
quests for the Thieves Guild I'm planning, though it will be a major
motive throughout the questline.
Quests
Quest 1: The Joining Up
In 'Joining Up' you meet the Skyrim branch of the Thieves Guild,
ruthless, violent and idiotic. In order to get into the TG you'll have
to extort an innocent butcher.
Quest 2: The Classic Blackmail
An Imperial Inquisitor is giving the Thieves Guild some trouble in
Windhelm. You'll have to find something to blackmail this guy with.
Quest 3: The Rich and the Poor
Help a few minor characters solve a few problems and get into a moral
dilemma when you find out the guy who created those problems is a
Thieves Guild Captain.
Quest 4: The Coup d'État
The real thieves in the Thieves Guild decide the old boss' time is long
past and stage a coup. Decide to whom you wish to pledge loyalty.
Quest 5: The Solitude Heist
Qanaro - The Khajiit boss - is rejoicing, the first real job since the
Thieves Guild became normal again has been issued. It seems one of the
Nobles of Solitude has something that ain't his, something he took
outside of the law. The Goblet of Kyne, one of many in existance, is
rumored to heal wounds and perform miracles. Offcourse, this is not the
true value of the Goblet, the true value lies in the gold it's made of.
Invade the Noble's manor and get the goblet.
Quest 6: The Vault Job
The Fighters Guild has many mercenaries who do guard-duty, these men
need to be paid and that happens once every two months. Qanaro wants
you to invade the vault of Windhelm and get the salary of these mercs.
The Vault itself, however, is impossible to pick with normal tools.
You'll need the key. Find the Vault curator, pickpocket his key and
invade the highly secure vault. Get the cash and get back to Qanaro.
Quest 7: The Long Haul
Qanaro tells you about the job the Imperial Guard gave the TG (see
above) and he wants you to research who the hell stole the amulet, he
says he has an informant. When you get to the barn in which you
arranged the meeting, you'll see many men surrounding you. Your
controls freeze and you go into third person view, all of the men
around you fire. Before you die, a voice screams out 'ENOUGH!' and the
screen goes pitchblack. You wake up in a prisonercamp, heavily wounded
(all attributes lowered). In this camp the guards pit the prisoners
against each other to bet on the fights, you'll have to get through
four fights to get to the breakpoint. After four fights you'll meet a
priest who says he can heal you, and your next fight is against the
camp leader. The priest says that if you kill the camp leader, he will
be able to make the prisoners rise up against the camp's guards. You
fight your way out of there and get back to Qanaro, with the
information contained within a personal letter directed to the camp
leader.
- From this moment on, a Nord thief (Engar) will be activated, he will
talk with you about you becoming the new leader of the Thieves Guild
and killing Qanaro. You can choose in the dialogue, though the effects
will only become apparent in the ending of Quest 8 -
Quest 8: The Official Heist
After getting the info about the who & the what stole the Amulet of
Soldin in Quest 7, it's time to do this thing. It appears the one who
stole the amulet and the one who locked you up in that camp is the
selfcrowned Jarl Hulgar who is very influential amongst the Nord
separatists. The nationalist Nordshave their 'main base' in Windhelm in
the mansion of Hulgar. The real problem however, is that Hulgar is
planning to give a speech to a crowd of Nords from Windhelm. He is most
likely planning to show the crowd the amulet. This most not happen.
You'll have to go through the sewerentrance of the mansion - Make sure
the crowd doesn't see you during the quest! - and get behind the stage
to steal the amulet. The quest is timed so resting will be out of the
question.
Quest 9: Becoming Masterthief (not an 'official' quest)
The 'Good' Way:
When you get back to Qanaro, he congratulates you on a job well done
and names you the true masterthief of the Skyrim branch of the Thieves
Guild. He will accept the job the Imperial Commander has offered him
(becoming the Imperial Commander's spymaster) and he offers you to
become the boss of the Skyrim TG (There's no real saying no to this).
The 'Evil' Way:
If you've said yes to Ednar (his suggestion that you should kill Qanaro
at some point in the future), he will now talk to you again before you
get back to Qanaro with the amulet. He tells you that you have much
support amongst the Nord thieves and that the time to kill Qanaro is
now. You can either say 'yes' or 'no' to this, though it won't make
that much difference in the future. Even if you said 'no' to Ednar you
will get the dialogue option to kill Qanaro when bringing back the
amulet. If you kill Qanaro (and Flin, who supports Qanaro) you will
become the boss of the Skyrim TG.
After becoming the Boss
Good
With Qanaro going legal, Flin will be your second-in-command and will
give you the monthly/weekly revenue of the TG. He will also give you
the option to make the TG Violent or real thieving. The (non-violence)
real-thieving option will produce a low but regular revenue and
sometimes cool items. The Violence choice will produce a high revenue
(no cool items though) but it also carries the risk of your thieves
getting killed by the Imperial Legion and thus immensely lowering the
revenue.
Evil
With Qanaro and Flin dead, Ednar will be your second-in-command and wil
give you the monthly/weekly revenue of the TG. He will also give you
the option to make the TG Violent or real thieving. The (non-violence)
real-thieving option will produce a low but regular revenue and
sometimes cool items. The Violence choice will produce a high revenue
(no cool items though) but it also carries the risk of your thieves
getting killed by the Imperial Legion and thus immensely lowering the
revenue.
- Keep in mind, this is only a proposal, so comment is appreciated! -
Thanx,
Cuthalion

Change it from the "Imperial Commander" to Tiber Septim who fights
Soldin, as Tiber Septim was the one to conquer Skyrim last, and if
anyone was going to have a one on one battle with a warlord, it would
be him, it also builds a stronger connection with lore.
Anyhow, it would be cool if in the battle Talos was described as
shouting off the flesh of Soldin with his Thu'um, something that any
Nord would deem worth of merit.

I like the vault job quest. If the curator with the key had a complex
and interesting schedule it could be a very engaging (and difficult)
thievery quest. |

Guys, in this thread
it is mentioned that the Thieves Guild questline will be changed in
order to fit in the new worldspace. Do you want me to do this now or
should I wait a while.
And do you want more quests in this questline or is 8 quests enough?
