[Request] Armour concepts |
|
Here is a list of armours, courtesy of Kukulza:
LIGHT
Harpy-feather Armor
-though feathers do not seem to be a good armor, there has been one
tribe to use harpy hide and feathers. It is very light and not good
protection against melee weapons but strangely enough, good protection
against arrows. Also, some of the magic of the harpy is within so that
the armor will provide a sort of nimbleness and speed to the wearer.
Hoarvor Armor
-although Dunmer in inspiration the Hoarvor has been adapted to make
armors for a certain tribe. They, having sent many archers to Morrowind
as hirelings know of the chitin armors of the Dunmer. Therefore they
have begun an unconventional tradition of stacking hoarvor chitin in
layers to make a hoarvor armor from the giant beetle-like pest.
Sentry Jerkin
-this leather style is common throughout Valenwood. It is tight fitting
and made from the hide of several different animals. Softer pelts are
for the inside and on the outside coaser skins are used. It is good
protection for those who can use it well but not extremely good
protect, it may turn a few blade-strokes before tearing, so skill is
required.
Hydra-scale Armor
-the Hydra-scale armor is basically the hide of a hydra made into
armor... the armor ratying is not extremely high though decent but it
is very very durable. and it is hard to acquire.
Savage Imga Armor
-this armor is made by the so called savage Imga who still practice the
old forager ways and when at war, though rarely, they will wear their
own armor, a mixture of wood, sap, bone, and metal chips.
Boar-tusk Armor
This armor, though not extremely common, is not rare either. Basically
it uses boar-tusks and hooves to create a strong husk, of course the
inside is lined with the boar hide providing a comfortable though
coarse and rigid light armor.
Scavenged Altmer Armor
-Some veteran Bosmer warriors have a tradition of scavenging and
adapting Altmer armor. It seems they have created a sort fo new
armor-style from old Second Era Altmer armors. These are armors and
ligth but not as strong as Altmer armor as they have been carefuly
beaten into certain shapes. The Bosmer also carve on them designs and
and scenes of battles. THis armor, though originally a more heavy
style, had been assimilated to Bosmer tastes to a point where they have
become light armors.
Xylo Chainmail
-named such because of the place the ore was mined from and where it
originated, this Bosmeri chainmail was made to better defend the
warriors against khajiit swords and scimitars. It is decent and durable
but not extremely common except from certain smiths living along the
Xylo who occasionally demand high prices for these decent chainmails as
they are rare in Valenwood.
Wood Goblin Armor
-This is a combination of hides and wood. It is not very strong nor
durable but easy to acquire. It is made by goblins who live in
Valenwood. However, the shields are actually relatively strong despite
the rest of the armor being poor in quality.
Centaur Bark Armor
And armor used by centaurs, it is light and made of bark strips
specially treated and hardned. The manufacture of it is forbbiden by
Bosmer taboo, but should a Bosmer slay a Centaur and take its armor, it
is fine. It is very light, and somewhat protective; the light-weight is
the key.
Silvenar Rider Armor
This is the armor for the riders of Silvenar, the guards of the city
and escorts for its chief. The armor is made from white leather, bronze
and silver. It is stronger than generic leather but not exceptional, it
is however beautiful and very durable.
Braided Armor
-Made from braided ropes of Verkarth flax, this light armor is durable
and decently strong. It is made of flax and hardened with saps and
backed with leather. It was improvised by Khajiti invaders but some
Bosmer tribes have large collections of these, and as they did not make
them, they can use them. It was abandoned by th hajit as it tended to
agitate their fury bodies but it fit nicely with the Bosmer skin, not
unused to the rough fibrous texture and unphased with the smelly sap
used to harded it. They are becoming rare as Bosmer do not bother to
reproduce these armors and khajiit spurn them for better armors.
However, they can still be found in hamlets near old khajit-bosmer
battlefields.
HEAVY
Camoran Steel Armor
-the steel armor of the Camorans is an ancient style influenced by the
Ayelieds, it is steel yet more durable though only as protective as
normal steel. It is rather ornate and was for guards. Though heavy in
design it is strangely light for a heavy style armor.
Bronze-leaf armor
-a long lost clan of Mer made this sort of scale mail that immitates
leaves. It is made of bronze, light, and decent protection. Not much
can be said about the armor but it appears to originate from a tribe of
Ayelieds as some was found in a Ayelied tuins of some sort.
Minotaur Bone armor
-Used more for ceremony but if properly worn can be a good protection.
It is usually used in hunting ceremonies but some Bosmer have learned
to make good use of the ceremonial armor for martial purposes.
Ceramic Plate armor
-This armor is extremely strong but not very durable. There have been
some tribes, desiring a strong armor, that have made ceramic plates to
fit neatly together to form a sort of heavy ceramic armor. ofte times
only the cuirass is used as most Bosmer aren't in prolonged fights for
too long.
Imga Heavy Armor
-Some of the 'savage' Imga had learned from orcs how to make metal
armors. So however rare these may be, the Imga Heavy armor is well
made. It is based on light armor but is heavy, being made of iron and
furs.
Thalmor Armor
-This is a sort of elven armor made to protect those who guarded the
Altmer officials who ran the Thalmor. As that is now gone, many of the
armor sets have been lost. It is a good armor and rare, made of unknown
alloys and and crafted by great Altmer smiths long ago. It is made of
bands and shells of carefully fitted metal so that when worn and
equipped, it will roll and move perfectly.
Well here you go, and nice little descriptions too. Get to work.

Just something I whipped up in Paint; Elven Bronze-Leaf Armor.
As you can see it has a leather undercoat, which forms the upper arms
& upper legs of the cuirass. Bronze scales are located on the
chest, back, kneecaps, and side of the legs. There is a leather belt,
bag, and harness. A small leather pad on the right should can hold an
insignia or just be decoration.
PS: It seems I am just wondering through the Silgrad forums, posting help & ideas randomly. Odd.

Hehe, yeah it was meant to be Chuzei Bonemold, like you's said It looks a bit big for Bosmer
By the way, Arbiter, it was originally for the Vvardenfell mod by KuKulzA, so you were right!

cool. I guess you should keep one thing in mind when designing stuff for Valenwood; mobility.
There are small chances of seeing a knight in Valenwood in his full gear.

Ok with that?

Lol under 10 minutes I think.
Centaur Bark Armor
Nothing like in the secription but this is my first armor ever. It's a
centaur armor so pants are oprional of course. And armor is made of
plates stiched together and then layered with leather stripes although
it's not shown so good.

No, I've never played it. I'm glad you like it, but the cape as it looks in the concept would be kinda hard to make.
I might draw a few more concepts if I have the time.
Cheers!

Well, here's something that took me about 20-25 mins. It's Harpy
Feather Helm. I decided not to make rest of the armor until I get the
perceptions little better. Anyways, it's like in description it
provides low defence but I added some magical... things on the side.
What do you think?
HARPY FEATHER HELM (helm for now)

Hmm I got a totally different idea for Feather Helmet, more of a mask.
Anyway letting you know since we worked late(2 extra hours without food
) I can't scan
But I also got Sentry Jerkin, idea for Xylo and a very nice idea for Igma Heavy. And yeah the harpy helmet.
Oh and finished Camoran Bow

Can't wait for that sentry jerkin and your vision of the helm.
I'll maybe one more mask type tomorrow to match it.

As I mentioned here's another variety of Harpy Feather Helm, except that this one is more mask than a helm.

Looks good, but what are those two tusks coming out of the mask for? Harpies are not sabers
Otherwise everything seems good.
