new weapons... descriptions! |
|
YAY! well, FLESH requested my services, to make descriptions for the
weapons as I had witht he armors... so okie dokie here I go.... and I
am also going to add a few if you guys don't mind....
I'll put a * next to newly added ones so you guys will know...
Camoran Weaponry
The Camoran Weaponry is made by the Camoran dynasty. It looks similar
to Ayleidic weapons from Cyrodiil but are distinctly different in
material as they use a sort of bronze-colored metal that appears to be
a variation of steel. However the designs are very similar except each
weapon has the emblem of the Camorans somewhere on it. They are valued
as great weapons, however the Camorans do not give it freely and can
only be acquired if you are a Camoran, if you buy it for a high price
or if you do a great favor.
Camoran Saber - the saber of the Camorans was made so that the
mounted guards of the royalty, when they went abroad, could quickly cut
down lightly armored Khajiiti bandits and savage Imga. It has a
bronze-ish color but the designs in dark gold and loos like a common
saber, except for the desgins on the blade and hilt.
Camoran Shortsword - The shortsword was made by the Camorans for
their women. This was made for them to defend themselves and therefore
very light and easy to whip out. It is a stabbing blade, unlike most
shortswords which are for jabbing or slicing. Therefore it is
relatively light and thin until the point which is wider and extremely
sharp.
Camoran Longsword - the Longsword of the Camorans is rare since
longswords aren't particularly effective in woodlands. However the
longsword is interesting in that the blade has subtle curves like a a
zig-zag which help the blade make more grievous wounds.
Camoran Mace - The mace is almost identical to it's Ayleid
cousin, save fo rthe designs on it. It was made for the guards of the
Camoran roylty in their palace.
Camoran Hammer - The warhammer of the Camorans is actually a
one-handed small hammer. However it has a rounded but evident striking
point, therefore it can puncture armor and is indeed a powerful weapon,
however it is rare a most Camorans had no preferrence for it.
Camoran Bow - The Camoran bow is made for the Camorans use and
also for their guards. This is the most common weapon of the Camorans
as they prefer to shoot an enemy from a long way off than engage in
melee combat, especially if with Cthay-raht, or forest orcs, savage
imga, etc.
Thalmor Weaponry
Thalmor weaponry was made by the Altmer when they tried to solidify
their Aldmeri Dominion. It is simply refined steel. However the look of
it is Altmeri, sleek and sharp. But the designs on it are Bosmeri, with
woodland themes and mythic scenes of Y'ffre. It is the marriage of
Bosmer and Altmer styles. Thalmore weaponry was an attempt by the
Altmer to standardize the Altmer-Bosmer forces in Valenwood. However
since the Altmer mainly left the Bosmer to be a meaatshield against the
Imperials, the Bosmer quickly dropped their heavy armor and resorted to
hit-and-run... until the Numidium came and they surrendered....
Thalmor Dagger - This dagger was made to piece Legion armor. It is heavy and large for a dagger.
Thalmor Broadsword - The Thalmor Broadsword was made to be swung
horizontally and catch a legionaire in the wait and slice him in half.
It too is heavy, but very effective.
Thalmor Longsword - the Longsword was made to be light,
surprisingly. It was made so that this deadly weapon could be rained
down on a Legionaire and break open the shield.
Thalmor Pole-ax - possibly the deadliest of the Thalmor weapons,
the pole-ax was made to kill a Legionaire in on hit, and can easily lob
off arms and legs and other things... it has a wicked edge and rows
uppon rows of soldiery bearing this weapon would put most enemies to
flight.
Thalmor Hammer - the Thalmor hammer was made to beat down
heavily armoed opponenets. It is powerful, but slow. Liek all Thalmore,
it is refined steel, heavy and powerful.
Thalmor Bow - Thalmor bows are rare as the Altmer tried to
discourage guerilla tactics and wanted to mobilize the Bosmer as
footsoldiers. However some were issued and were used to shoot down
generals. This bow is made like a compound bow and is extremely tight
and curved.
Xylo Weaponry
The weaponry of the Xylo is made by a strange blue-ish ore. Therefore
though as strong as steel, it has a blue-ish tinge and is more brittle
than iron. However it is also sharper. and along the weapon is a blue
curving line, like a river... like the river Xylo. In recent time they
have come in great demand as Bosmer struggle to wipe out Khajiit
settlers.
Xylo Sword - Xylo swords were made to slash. Therefore it is a
light sword and can be swung in deadly arcs. It resembles "Sting" from
Lord of the Rings except longer.
Xylo Dirk - The Dirk is a small dagger, good for stabbing. It looks like a long triangle with a blue curved line on it to the point.
Xylo Hatchet* - The Xylo Hachet was made to hack apart Khajiit.
It has a deadly curved blade that is a semi-circle and can hack off
limbs with ease. The blue line curves around the shaft of the ax.
Xylo Bow - The Xylo bow, like all metal compound bows is hard to use and very strong. It has a blueish line down the cente rof the bow.
Bosmeri Weaponry
Bosmeri Weapons all have a similar theme, hide, bone, bit of metal, and very little wood if at all.
Bosmer Dagger - This style of short blade is made by Bosmer in
the south. They use this to assassinate Khajiit and it is a thin piece
of metal with hide wrapping for a handle.
Bosmer Dirk* - The Bosmeri dirk is a bone blade but has a
hide-wrapped handle. The bone is filed to a point and can easily pierce
flesh or lighter armors.
Bosmer Knife* - The Bosmer knife is actually an imported
single-edge blade from the Colovian region. Trader bring this simple
and effective knife to Valenwood. It is iron with a wooden handle.
Bosmer Compound Bow - The Bosmer compound bow is made from
hydra-ribs and wrapped in sinew. It is extremely powerful. Oftentimes,
feathers from harpies are put on the ends of the bow.
Bosmer Longbow - The Bosmer longbow is made from yew. In truth
it comes from trees in Elsweyr as the Bosmer have nothing against
cutting down trees in the Khajiit's land.
Bosmer Shortbow - The Shortbow is made from the rib of a dead
Bosmer. The ribs are linked and wrapped in hide and sinew. The result
is a small and short range bow with good speed.
Forester Bow - This bow is made for foresters in general. Though
often used by Bosmer, it was not made by Bosmer and was made ironically
by Khajiit foresters hunting the area. The bow is made from a certain
pine and is very flexible.
Stridsman Bow - Tough Bosmer from the Strid River area have fashioned a bow made of Hoarvor shell, similar to a chitin bow.
Elden Bow - Used by Elves of the Elden Grove, virtually nothing
is known of these bows save that the Bosmer used them to quell Wild
Hunts when they broke out and hurt ther own kin.
Silvenar Guard Bow - This is a Silvery Bow made from Nibenay wood and plated in silver.
Falinesti Guard Bow - This bow is made from hair. The hair of a
dead Falinesti guard is woven into the bow, hardened with oils and
hides. The bow is not durable but very fast and does great damage.
Minotaur-bone Bow - Minotaur bone is used to for the handle
while it's horns are for the upper and lower parts. It is like a larger
version of the Horn Bow.
Horn Bow - This is made from the horns of an ox and the blunt
ends of the horn (where it connects withthe sull) are glued together
and made into a small but very strong bow.
Giant-Hunting Bow - The Giant Hunting bow was made by Forest
Orcs but was soon adopted by Bosmer. It is six feet long, too big for
most normal people. However extremely powerful. The loading is quite
slow however.
Savage Weaponry
Forest Orc Scimitar - The Forest Orcs are a remnant of Orsinmer
who fled to Valenwood. Here thay have become tribal but have been nown
by the Bosmer for their fine scimitars which they use to lob heads off.
However it simply resembles a rusty bronze looking scimitar.
Imga Stone Knife - And Imga stone knife is made of flint with rope wrapping grip.
Wood Goblin Blade - A Wood Goblin blade is a crude shortsword made of copper beaten into shape.
Imga Club - An Imga Club in a large root, hardened with oil and used in battle.
Imga Hand-ax - A Hand-ax is a large chunk of flint with a sharpened point. Surprisingly, despite it's crude make, it is very effective.
Wood Goblin Ax - This ax resembles a tomahawk but is made in the same way as most Wood Goblin things are made, crudely beaten copper.
Wood Goblin Club - The Club of the goblins is made from a think wooden stick with a stone on the end, crude but decent.
Wood Goblin Bow - A Wood goblin bow is made from Valenwood timber and the goblins use it mainly to spite the Bosmer.
Centaur Bow - The Centaur bow is a bow used by centaur... it is
wooden but small, a sign that the Centaur only use as much wood as they
need. It is burned or painted black. |

your welcome
I was sorta afraid my descriptions might be too vague but I wanted
concept artists to be creative... but if I really wanted to I might
just do all the concepts myself... but that would unfortunately take
time away from Black marshes and Vvardenfell... and also take away
something for concept artist's creativity... |

Glad to hear it, make valenwood your priority since you already joined
here, but if you run out of things to do, elsweyr needs some too.

I think one more person offered to model them, but my memory is not so good. You're free to give them a go.

it looks like I need to redo the blade again..., the lower part of it
has become all messed up, and it will probably go faster for me to just
remake it. It wont take long though

Hi there, I have "finished" the sabre now. The reason I say "finished"
is because i'm not really happy with a couple of things, and therefore
will start the texturing again, but it will look very much like this:
Camoran Sabre

Could you maybe lower that insignia a little? Dunno if those are your final colors but they're kinda killing my eyes.
Less orange and more gold perhaps? But shape is good.
I like your handle, just don't get sued by LotR lawyers when they see that white tree there.

Maybe you can find something on the net? btw. could you tell a noob
like me, is it possible for weapons to really look like metal? Most fan
made ones look like plastic.

Oh, and I searched the damn net for bronze colours yesterday, didn't find anything usefull so I made one
Should it be more brown and golden maybe?
Oh, and the reason many blades looks like plastic, is because they
aren't reflective and often without any texture at all, just colour |
Thanks for telling me that.
Perhaps make blade something like THIS, only little darker. Other crossguard.... darker than that, but to still look alike.

Hehe, I like it. It looks like goldbrand now.
Is it little sunnier now? Maybe you could make it start little darker
near the crossguard and then getting lighter as it goes to the top.
Perhaps I could try to draw some tree. I'll either ahve it in the next 5 mins or you can use that one.

I've found a brilliant program for texturing, it does it real time. I
could make those engravings with a real-time bump map. The tool is
wonderful, Chrissloe I think you will aprreciate this more than anyone,
go on MSN when you can and I will explain the beauty to you
(This is so easy even I could texture lmao, ofcourse I'm not the person to shell out for program so I got it less conventianaly
)

Ok, I think I have finished the sabre now, I don't know what i'll do if you don't like it now
I have remade the handle using Arbiters wonderful sketsch(spelling?)
and given it an even more golden colour. Pluss reposisioned the
engraving
Screenie
on a side note I think this is my best texture so far

I tried making the lower part ogf the handle bronze coloured and it
didn't look very good, so we just have to say the whole thing is
polished ebony from natural dead trees or something. As for flesh new
methd, i'll try it later as I have some friends visiting me atm
