Claim: Falinesti Architecture |
|
Priority:
Here is the post I made in the ESF:
Hello everyone,
I am FLESH, leader of the Valenwood mod. We have started the production
of Falinesti, the Great Tree City of Valenwood. The tree itself is
almost in completion (fine tuning). We held a poll at the Valenwood
forums, and have decided that Falinesti will be using mainly organic
architecture.
Here are some descriptions of what we want:
The dominant architecture on Falinesti will be organic (flora type). Here is an example of organic architecture: 1, also keep in mind it needs to be in tile-set form, example. This is a majestic city, it's architecture should reflect that. Here is another example.
Another result of the poll was that Falinesti will be using mixed
architecture. We also need concepts of Marble buildings, for the higher
class of living in the city.
Other:
resin + silk, hides, bone, glass (in moderation), deadwood.
Please keep in mind the architecture needs to be in Tile-set form, but
if you have some single pieces (not in tile-set form) we would love to
see them aswell. All entries are welcome. Not only houses but also
other misc. pieces (bridges etc.)
We need your help to make this city a reality. Make your mark in Valenwood.
Thank you,

Yea, ok I'll do that next time (more like the others), I'll see if I can think up something tile based too.

1st one is really inspirational. Could those flowers act as lanterns? Is it hanging?

Really like the first one, and the second may be good for some villages on the ground (built mainly out of mud/sticks etc.).

I was going to put ladders and walkways in, but I thought that would
depart from the original idea, and just distract and get in the way of
the pic but yea, I didn't have anything fancy in mind for getting
around them. |

I'm sorry if I'm a bit late to the party, but I just found the project
yesterday and I love doing concept art (though I need to work on
building some talent), so I thought I could contribute a bit. Here's
just a quick example, I can do tons more where that came from. Also, I
wouldn't mind doing anything else you might want, creatures, armor,
weapons, furniture, etc.

Lets all keep in mind the massive size of Falinesti. It's branches are
city streets as big as the Imperial Cities... The idea of a staircase
spiraling around it would be obsurd, it would almost be an endless
stair. It would pose quite the time dely and challenge. I mean, this
thing is a mile high, and I suspect the lowest branches to be about a
sixth of a mile from the ground at least. Imagin that. That is quite a
ways up and the circle/spiral factor makes it longer. This tree makes a
redwood look like brocoili!

Welcome to Valenwood AJAlkaline
Great Concept! Raggidman would like this for his video. But I think
it's a great idea, those flowers could be connected by some sort of
vines, and we could make a village that way. I think Chrissloe is
looking for some Armour concepts right now, so it would really help him
out there.
But don't stop doing these city/building concepts, I'm really liking them.
@Liquid Cheese: That could be very interesting indeed. Precarious also. Keep up the good work
@Grey Wizard: Glad to see you around here
Falinesti will be using elevators to get between different levels of
the city. But we could use stairs and bridges to get between houses and
such.

Almost missed this one.
Looking great.
Is it made entirely in Photoshop?
Very interesting... what would happen in the tables slided into the flower?
btw. where are my manners; welcome to Valenwood.

I was unaware you were new, but welcome.
@FLESH, thanks, I hope to be around here more now that Stormhold is
taken care of over in our marshy parts of Beyond Cyrodiil. I was under
the impression that we would deffinatly use elevators for Falinesti,
but I was also under the impresion that this was Falinesti Claims. Hmm?
Anyway, We can make this city soon as I am almost done with the height
map. With the tree covered all we need is architecute exclusive
to Falinesti and we'll be ready to make this city a reality. I'll work
on my marble architeture of course, and if we get any concepts that you
really want to see in Falinesti I'll render those as well. I can't wait
to start working on this spended city!

The submissions posted here are all intended for Falinesti. Those that
will not be used in the city will of course be used elsewhere in the
province. There are a couple of pieces that Tanesh has posted that ould
be good, like the root buildings, and I think the Mushroom type houses
by Liquid would also fit.

I drew some concept art today for Falinesti. I'll upload in a little
while. It has a few of the ideas from before, but how we can approch
them in a branch. Remember that the branches are the streets, and
sturdy and large as the impreial city streets!

Wait, I'm confused. The pod houses that came out of another plant? Or the tree mushroom type houses?

I had to use a digital camera because my scanner wont work. It looks a
lot better in real life, but this is as good of quality I could upload
it. I'll stop writing directly on the picture and start typing notes
for better results in the future. My favorite concept is the Fungus,
not because the Hollowed sap isn't a cool concept, but because the
polygons it would take would be hidious. It would make for some major
issues. Anyway, here it is. Full size it.

I would call that set the Bosmer ground buildings. It looks perfect for
what they would have on the ground because of the way it looks like
it's made out of mud, twigs etc.
Let's keep away from Levitation for a little bit though. Good concepts, a little hard to see, but still good,
