I know I am a late arrival, very late in fact, but I read through the thread.
If any of ya'll check out TIL much and read up, it mentions in the
Aldmeri Dominion section that Bosmer climb about the city of Falinesti
like termites, and also use thorny vines to swing from place to place.
So... vines... think we can manage that? I know it would be hard, but it would ROCK.
I've also got a few ideas for homes. One of them a poor, lower class home made from a single flower.

Great find, FC4! Could you please post here or PM me the bit from the
book that describes Falinesti? I'm one of the fools trying to model it,
and any lore references to it would be extremely helpful. |

Pocket Guide, 1st Edition, Aldmeri Dominion
Scroll down a bit to find info about the vines in Falinesti, but read through it all for good measure.
Pocket Guide, 3rd Edition, Valenwood
Here is states Falinesti rooting itself, amongst other things.

hey guys I just discovered this valenwood project today and I just
wanted to say that I can do a lot of concept art for you guys, just
like everyone else here lol
. I can work in either photoshop or drawings and should have some designs up within the next couple of days.
p.s some of these drawings are reminding me a bit of the Telvanni architecture from Morrowind, not really, but sort of.

We need concept artists. Now that JAA is on the modeling spree
I'm looking forward to seeing your work. Feel free to post new threads for individual projects (Clutter, Architecture etc.).

Welcome good sir to Valenwood. I hope you do draw us some good houses!
That would be very nice indeed (especially since we're still debating
on what could be the houses!!!)

This is the concept art so far for the dwelling I had spoken of in the
past. On the side are three closed flowers. Choose which style you like
best, though I think the third is the worst, and personally like the
first.
The other images include a view of the bottom of the flower when open,
and a top view. In the top view the long stalk is stigma, and the floor
of the 'home' is the flat ovary surface. Atop that is a bed, chair, and
table, drawn rather small. They really only have the purpose of being
place holders, and aren't scale drawn. However, the flower is rather
big.
It opens by day, revealing itself in the sunlight and the dwelling
within, but closes at night. I think it best serves as a room for an
Inn, the Inn being a bush of these large flowers. The lack of security
-having no locks- makes it cheap, however it is hard to break into
without damaging the flower. What you all think? I can develop the
drawing further if you like it.

I only see one problem with your idea, FC4. I don't see this giant
flower growing on Falinesti. Maybe we could have it somewhere else (in
the middle of the woods), or maybe use just the buds and rethink the
stem (vines, maybe?)
Otherwise, it looks great.

I agree with JAA, unless it grows on vines around the tree, then it's
ok. Otherwise it can be put anywhere else in Valenwood, hmm it works
either way I guess.
Another problem I see is that once the player is inside when it's
locked (closed) how can he get out? Or must he sleep? And what if one
persistent player decides to sit there all day and watch how the flower
opens, would these animations be hard? (tech expert to the rescue ey
).
Great idea btw

A simple open animation at dawn and close at dusk I would imagine.
Indeed, we could change this into a vine if you wish for Falinesti. I will get to work on that bit.

True true. I'm just skeptical about having houses made out of these
rooms, sounds like it might lag a lot, then again there might be
varieties, some big enough to fit a house (but still open up in the way
you describe) and some smaller room sized varieties.

This just screamed to me "Idea!" What if we had a nesting doll-based
flower house? The main chamber is one flower, and then inside of that
are smaller flower "rooms". This idea might fit better in Silvern,
since it is considered the "Flower City." |

A flower within a flower, within a flower, within . . . .
You have my attention with this, how would it look? But it sounds
different to anything that might suit Falinest, so why don't you post
up a new thread in Silvern concerning your ideas about this
architecture?
