Here's the updated drawing. I changed the head shape some so it was
smaller, shortening the beak size, and made the neck slimmer. The chest
has been slimmed, and the back slimmed as well. The arms are as thin as
I felt I could make them, and I also thinned out the thighs.
I expanded up the other art some, adding feathering, the abdominal
muscles, and a frontal view of the head to show how it keeps relatively
human shape. Notice the abs are bare of any feathering.

FC4, think real vultures though, and Hircines attitude, vultures prey
on the weak and the wounded, they would follow injured prey, taunting
in a group, while the injured animal is defending itself from one
angle, another vulture will jump in and tear at it from another, then
once one gets a bite they will all start pecking until its overcome and
is eatn alive while its life slips away!
Thats evil and natural and I'm sure Hircine would love it. A lot of
hunting doesnt involve worthy prey. Vultures are definitely hunters
when compared to rich business men who go to Africa to shoot
pre-caught, drugged lions and rhinos. Thats my version of Hircines
choice, to show another aspect of the hunt! Also compared to 10
horsemen and 80 Foxhounds hunting 1 exhausted fox. The vulture wins
again!

Drawing looks great, again, not a sketch
Seems more glide capable, but also still very cumbersome as it should be IMO.

It would be cool if this thing ran at you flapping and screaming. Quite
terrifying in groups. I don't think we have any creature modelers
(requires a whole different type of modeling).

definitely requires a whole different type of modeling.
Also, wingspan is from wingtip to wingtip, not beak to tail feathers.
I think it could glide short distances, and you would not see it very
high up in the air at all. definitely NOT over the tree tops. You could
always lengthening the wings I have drawn, as this is just concept art.
I see it walking on four legs more than two. Using its knuckles in a
manner similar to the gorilla. That would be for average walking. Speed
would be flapping its wings while running haphazardly after you.
And tree climbing.

I was just thinking about how we can make them climb trees. I don't
think we would be able to pull off anything Euphoria Engine like where
it reacts differently to every tree and the circumstances at which it
is climing, but would we be able to make it spread it's arms
wider/shorter depending on the size of the trunk?

So, what changes should be made to the concept art?

I dunno coz this isn't a real vulture. Think we need to decide if this
glides or anything, if so its wings should be longer for realism, if
not its fine!

Why not have it glides for some of it's power attacks? It could leap
into the air and swoop at the player, in a similar way the mountain
lion lunges towards the player. That way you could have a use for it's
wings, but it would be limited as a large bird should be. |

That's a pretty good idea nick_op, and doable I think. Welcome to Valenwood

Thanks. I'm actually working on a couple of creatures for Silgrad Tower
at the moment. I managed to get a new animation working in the CS
earlier today, though for some reason it didn't work in game.
I might have a go at this werevulture at some point in the future. I
don't think the animations would be that tricky, though the skelton
would be more complex than what I've done so far. |
