no no... that's not what I meant by that...
meant that.... well I dunno how to say it briefly...
but I'll show you what I mean....
I have the Aldmeris Aldmer splitting into Tamrielic and ones still on Aldmeris after the sundering...
now the on the Tamrielic side of things, the Maormer and Dwemer went in
their own directs very early on... then the Aldmer of the Summerset
area and the coasts on southwestern Tamriel decided to branch off...
Chimer, Bosmer, etc.
on the Aldmeris side of things, the city was decaying... so Ulsmer went
to the sea (maybe drawn by reports of Dreugh civilization, maybe the
Dreugh helped them survive by showing the way of water-living)*,
and the Drethmer coped by going underground, they still live in the
ruins of Aldmeris but live a troglodytic lifestyle... and the Crestmer
stayed on the old ways but of all the surface-dwelling Aldmer they
branched off..... volcanic Vesmerkaz, Volsmer of the woods, and Senmer
of the snowy lands...
THAT is what I am TRYING to say... I hope my diagram show it better than my words...

that's why I had to make the diagram...
cause I had been studying the evolution of Mer for awhile since
Bethesda doesn't care about the beast-folk which I care much more about
(like goblins, Argonians, Khajiit, Dreugh, Sload - you might find I
make a few Sload and Dreugh discussions now and then on ESForums)...
but I hope this helps clear everything up... I mean I have lots of
ideas and I hope this project is still recptive to them... not
necessarily races ideas cause I like them as they are... but I can't
wait to draw Aldmeris...
I can see the city as a ruin... the center is still intact and stands
tall but the rest is dark and ruined and in areas the city is a
ghost... a semi-opaque and whispy ghost of a district, and in other
just ruins, and in others big rents have been made so that the sewers
and catacombs are revealed.... and vegetation grows all over it except
the center which some Crestmer still hold and try to maintain, quietly
devoting the rest of their lives trying to rebuilt, chip by chip
Aldmeris from the center that never fell... and the fountains have
become ponds and the gardens into forests and it is like a giant forest
with a lot of clearings and ruins but closer into the city there is
less tree, more small vegetations... and buildings less ruined...
wow... I'm gonna start dreaming when I go to bed... I think way too
much

No, Aldmeris is mer, plain and simple. Beast races are Tamriel, they make it special.

yeah...
in a sense it works kinda like this I guess...
while Aldmeris is the great Merish continent... beastraces on Tamriel
and Akavir... and Men from Atmora, Yokuda, and some on Akavir...
and then everyone just goes BAM and comes together on Tamriel... poor
beast-races though always getting displaced... I bet they'd last longer
in the long run however....
but you guys like my vision of the city?

Yes, the heartland city took the worst damage though from the
detination of the orb, however it was rebuilt by the crestmer, and
legend has it that it was done following the ancient original plans for
aldmeris.

So after the destruction of the grand city, the Crestmer found the
plans of the aldmeris and began rebuild or make a new city?
Also, is heartland the endless city or the city the Crestmer are builing, or both?

Yes, aldmeris, the inhabitants of Aldmeris call it Aldver now, or old Aldmeris.

well... Aldmeris COULD be the ruined city's name... maybe the continent
HAD a name but the last thing the Tamrielic Mer remember is the once
beautiful city turning into hell and the people leaving in all
directions...
I think the Aldmer at the time had been so deterred by thre unforgiving
land that the majority had gathered to make Aldmeris and was perhaps
770-90% of the population... once the disaster occured everyone fled in
different ways... well, most everyone...
so maybe Aldmeris the continent is unknown to the Tamrielic Mer as the
memory is distant and they may only remember the grandeur of the city
in myth and legend.... |

All the tapestries in Crystal tower confirm that it is an endless city,
though it may be artistic licence, I want to stick to the little lore
we have.

Vesmerkaz- In the turmoil that had suddenly errupted, several elves
attempted to flee into the sea of Ulskar to escape the horror that was
bestowed upon them, two enemies, Tyrasu and Ayamsi, both led a group of
thousands to escape into the sea, Ayamsi, wanted to live peacefully
among each other, but Tyrasu refused, he knew they couldn't live in
harmony, therefore, a battle broke out and in the end, Ayamsi was
victorious, Tyrasu was outnumbered, he then fled to the volcano of
Voqospir , a place where no one would go. Many lived in the neighboring
crator, from here, evolution took it's toll.

He didn't think they could live in harmony, because they were hated
each other, sooner or later, civil war would break out. and he went
their because no one else would because there wouldn't be riots there.
