I would very much like several buildings for Orsinium, please. I will
upload concepts for these (or similar photos), tomorrow.
The most important, though, would be the Fortress, which Braggi posted
a series of TES2 screenshots from every angle under this thread:
Concept Art Needed - Tthe Orc City of Orsinium
On a related note, did you finish the rocks and dung pile for Ashpit in
the end? I found some nicely retextured ash golems that would fit right
in there. |

I can make, and will finish all of those bits tomorrow. The interior of
the Fortress can just use a retex of another stock set, and I probably
won't look to far into the Daggerfall version, though I hope to capture
some of the same 'feeling', though keep in mind Orsinuim has since
entered a time of higher economic power since Daggerfall, and the
Fortress would have been revamped since anyway.
I'll also upload some pics of the Ashpit stuff I made, and I think I
may have already mentioned it in another thread, but I don't think
those Ash Golems were of the highest quality (nor looked very
oringinal) -we can do better.
I would like to see those concepts ASAP! While Braggi and Gyssar are
away, doesn't mean us Modders can't play and do lots of work

I agree that the fortress wouldn't have the same appearance now - but those photos are still useful for inspiration.
I was always planning on the fortress having been substantially
reworked (its in the city plan for Orsinium) - perhaps to make it more
of a palace rather than a defensive structure, since the city is now
surrounded by two sets of curtain walls, so Gortwog can afford to
splash out a little on more spacious quarters (and show off his
new-found wealth and power).
What I think we should definitely keep from the original is the very
asymmetrical architecture. It makes it look radically different to
anything else we've got planned for HR.
I will do my best to send those concepts tomorrow (it will be difficult to do it tonight).

Well, for Orsinium, I found a nice concept someone drew on deviantART, which is here.
I've been given the task of finding stuff for Northpoint, so here's all that I have so far.

I think the lighthouse should definitely go in.
Didn't Unique Landscapes already make a waterwheel like the one in the other picture?

By the way, TOYB, what happened with that Torval set you were making for Elsweyr in the end?

Alright.
My own concepts for the city of Orsinium will be uploaded either tonight or tomorrow.
In the meantime, I would like to present the art and photos I've been using for inspiration.
Comments/criticism welcome.
Two photos (from different angles) in the futurist art style. Orsinium
is said to be home to giant iron statues of Trinimac, Gortwog and other
heroes of the orc people, and it occurred to me that this asymmetrical,
harsh-lined style fits their mentality.

A south american cathedral. The general shape and dramatic design were
the inspiration for my design of the Temple of Trinimac (this will be
the only symmetrical, smooth-edged building in the city, which will
make it look very out of place).

The Oriental Pearl Tower. Something like how I visualised the Great
Tower of Orsinium (see the Orsinium city thread for more information) -
only made of iron and half-built.

Housing: wealthy and powerful Orc clans will live in large communal
fortress-houses made from large sheets of iron bolted together (in a
manner similar to this sculpture):

The majority of Orcs will live in shacks, of a similar design to the
concepts already posted in the general visual development thread.
However, they will be stacked on top of each other, with staircases
running between them, so that the overall effect looks like this:

Orsinium's industrial section (my designs will be much more
asymmetrical and rough in appearance, but will retain the sharp lines
and unusual shapes):

The first two pieces of concept art!
First, I'm really sorry about the huge image files. I don't have a
scanner so I had to take a photo using a digital camera, and I don't
have a clue how to reduce the resolution. So sorry if they take a long
time to load.
Second, I realise that these concepts probably wouldn't be practical to
put into the game "as is" - they are very complicated and probably
would end up being very high poly. But that's why they are called
concepts I guess - its the job of the modeler to turn designs into
things that will work in the game.

This is one of the first block forts of orsinium - made out of iron
sheets, with some similarities to the TES2 version of Gortwog's palace.

The Great Tower of Orsinium. Gortwog has been working on this for years
in my invented backstory for the city. He claims it is a great public
monument to the glory of orc civilisation - but does it house something
more sinister? The player will spend their time in the city finding out
the answer. |
