Tamriel Rebuilt has some interesting Nord concept art. They have a rather nice architecture gallery.

Yeah, I hope when we do the really cold, mountainous regions we can have some of those mammoth bone homes.

well ancient man also used mammoth tusks in makin their shelters... like the nomadic folks following the great herds into America... those Asians became what are now called, the Native Americans.... I hate how they are called Indians... and I also hate how the white USAs are called Americans.... ugh... hates it so much, yes I do.... hate it hate it!

Their concept art is okay... personally I think we have and will do much better (I'm biased of course.. lol). Much of what they have for Skyrim concept art though looks like the common tilesets from MW more than anything else. So far P's stuff is much more similar to OB's Nord art and I find it much more realistic and better looking. (Where did they get the elephant tusks btw? lol hmmm) Also, the land of Skyrim is mountainous. Wood and stone would be the most common building materials. Hay for thatch would not be readily available in many areas, it would be hoarded for animal fodder, especially since there are now horses to feed. In high mountain regions arable land is at a premium, unless you want to grow rocks. lol Thatch would perhaps be made from water reeds or some such.

If you look at Prometheus' stuff, it's very much akin to the houses in Oblivion with the carved and ornamented shingles on the roof and the highly detailed carvings all around. If you look into Nordic stave churches of the past ohh.. around the 13th century or so (and earlier) .. you will see exactly where Oblivion found their inspiration for their beautiful Nord buildings.

Footnote: the term Stave is a building technique use for walls.

Here are some of the concepts Danath_in asked me to whip up. They're still highly conceptual, the critter isn't final, and the runes don't spell anything intelligible. Please give me your thoughts.

Ok, here's one new armor. Sorry there haven't been more uploads lately, I've been being lazy. I have 2 more armors that I've finished that need uploading, and then I'll get around to making some other concepts.

The armor is a ranger type armor, with a kilt, hood, and vest. I was going for a more celtic look with it, didn't come out perfect though.

Two new armor concepts, I've had these for a while and just needed to upload them.

The first one is basically just a troll hide with iron plates over top of it, when OB comes out we can probably just take the Iron Armor and texture over everything but the plate with the troll texture. Its light weight for heavy armor, and keeps the wearer nice and warm up in the mountains, though it might not smell to pleasant. The armor would probably be on par with Orchish, and quite common in the high mountains of Skyrim.

The second is some kind of armor for guards or royalty. The plate is meant to be silver, and the chain bronze. I havn't got a lot of ideas on this one.

Another thought on the troll armor. I think I saw banded armor on one of the gaurds in a screen shot if that is the case then it very well could be used as the base for retex for the leather. okies on the guard armor do you have a sheild I would like to see what you have in mind.

I do have a very nice texture for chain armor that would work nicely
its silver but its just a matter of a recolor to make it bronze. will fish it out and drop it in here for ya to see.

Looking good, looking good!

Ok, that texture looks good, I'm not really sure about the shield for the guard armor, couldn't think of anything good for it.

That was what I was working with on the heraldry however the round shields dont work well for that type a textureing.
the sinister side of the shield was not laying right after a "bend" was placed across the face of the shield
same result with starting the "bend" on the sinister side to the dexter side as well.

The guard shield could perhaps be like this. Imagine those done in alternating bronze and silver with a highly reflective finish. Sexy. :)

EDIT: Then again, something as simple as this might suffice. Pardon the hideous quality, it's the only example I have offhand.

Texturing it would be a pain. The shield should be doable though.

keep the language clean please.

thats a fine example of celtic knotwork and animal stylization.

As far as the guards shields heraldry goes I am currently working on a design for each hold. having some problems with the round shield wich was actualy my first thought. now what I would like to know is this
what do you all feel is a good alternitive to the round shield for this.

The alternative to a round shield is of course a kite shield, the longer the better (some kite shields are barely different from a "square" shield).

If you were going to stick with the rounded one you might have to go for even more stylised designs.

My friend, you put my own work to shame. I love the cities! I really hope that we can get locations in our mod to look like 1 and 3. As for 2, it could make a great Riekling Settlement.

Here's a quick house I whipped up. It would be an upperclass house. The main features I wanted to point out in this drawing are the short fence, the protuding door, tree roof material, and the sign outside showing he's a noble.

The roof is also high, which would be a good contrast to having smaller roofs on commoners' houses. Also guys, when making armour, keep in mind the climate.

Nice drawing, and thanks for bringing up high roofed houses, when we get a proper exporter I'm gonna put someone to work on creating a high roofed tileset. With armors we're keeping in mind the climate, note the troll hide and barborous armros. Also the house would probably be more realistic with wood shingles, since in Skyrim nice long grass is hard to come by in cold regions.

Last night I redid it using the all-mighty ruler to make it look less collapsing, though I havn't had time to scan it in yet. I'll post it up tommorow probably.

I've also got some other ideas for some tents, and maybe some armour, so I'll do those when I get the time.
