I'm no texturing expert but those normalmaps look fine to me.

We are using the default Oblivion snow. We do have a few other snow
textures but they are all a little too bright (especially with
HDR/Bloom on). |

Ah, ok.
You should be able to plug whatever texture you want in with them I
guess in NifSkope right? I just threw a snow one in there just in case,
it'll most likely be blown out as well.

Your snow texture looks fine - it's just that most of the other ones we have are basically brilliant white.

I was just looking in the Job Priority topic and realized....it says
Rune Stones, not all the stones. Though, I'm still assuming you'd like
all of em right? If not, sorry, haha. I'll be working on the RUNE
STONES next for sure.
Is says use any "runic" font? But that you use the Elder Futhark
font? Is this an actual font I can install? If not, I can just recreate
them from the wiki or whatever. And does it matter what it says? Just
throw random letters in? The Bloodmoon Rune Stones look like the same
design on all of them (same texture), we can definitely make each one
unique if you want.
Edit 2008.07.10 03:19:
And oh yeah, forgot to post pics of the stones with the normal and spec on em.

They look very good overall, though I think the snow still looks a bit
too jaggedy in places. That's my only complaint though.
About runestones, it doesn't matter so much what you put on them. If
you want to put messages in runes on there that would be great, simple
little rhymes or verses. A couple with actual Elder Futhark letters,
and then a few with a design ala Bloodmoon would be fine. |

Yeah I know what you mean about jaggy. It's on purpose though. Here's
just a couple refs I used. They show how rocks with very steep sides
hold the snow on top. and it is pretty jaggy. So I tried replicating
that as much as I could. Did it work? I don't know, but I thought it
was better than the snow blobs that were used originally.

I think they look good as they are. The textures look really great, especially on the darker rocks.
If you want to do some stones with runes, you can use the font I've attached.

Sweet, exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks Alasdair!
Edit 2008.07.11 04:32:
Oh hey, hold off on the previous snow rocks for now if anyone is
importing them. I'm not 100% with that snow. I may have gotten it to
look better, will post pics when I mess around with it more.
Edit: Okay, here's some screens. let me know. going ahead and throwing up this OBJ [Mirror] as well.
Download OBJ.

"Mother Kyne cries for Father Shor" would be a good line to slap on a rune stone.

I think the new one with the cross is my favorite yet, and they look
really cool without that glow too. Worth uploading as a fourth
variation I think. |

Surely if you tweak the glow map right you could have them without glow
during the day and with the glow at night. I think that would be rather
cool. |

Nice stuff in anycase. But my first thought was on/off as an activation. Again good work.

Thanks guys. Yeah I have to check to see how to set up the glow maps
(it's just it's own map with _g at the end right?), so you should be
able to turn it on and off I assume.. The normal diffuse is the Off
state with no glow.
And yes, I'm pleased with how the cross stone came out. I'm trying to
get some variation in design between all of them so they aren't all the
same design just on different stones.

Don't forget that you can actually put colours in glow maps. They don't need to be grayscale.
I believe there is a setting that has to be changed in the .nif to activate the glow maps.

Yep, those are 3 different colored glow maps. But...can you change the
color in NifSkope? If so, we'd really only need 1 grayscale glow map
per stone rather than 3, which would save on texture load, file size,
yadda yadda.

It might be possible by changing the emmisive colour, but that might change the colour of the whole thing.

Awesome work! Those are exactly what we need.
I'll get them and the rocks in-game as soon as I can.
Edit 2008.07.27 20:23:
I decided to stop being lazy and import these into the game today,
maybe I'm doing it wrong but none of the objects seemed to have any UV
data.

I can remap them, but I was thinking maybe you missed an option in the
obj export dialog or something like that. Maybe you could try exporting
them as 3ds files, I usually use those for importing and exporting
between modeling apps. |

Yeah maybe so, I'll give it another go, along with the 3ds.
Edit 2008.07.30 05:45:
I imported my OBJ in and the UVs looked fine. But I went ahead and
added a 3ds as well to the Rar, so give it a try I guess. I've checked
all of mine, imported all as OBJ and checked UVs, all look fine to me.
So this link is just to test the plant.
-Download-
Also, here's what my import settings look like for OBJs:

Awesome. Yeah I'll probably work on that one a bit more. I'll get
everything else in 3ds format and start looking at another plant
Edit 2008.07.31 05:14:
An update of the previous exports now including a .3ds
- Stones001.1
- RuneStones001
Edit 2008.08.10 19:45:
Just a quick update of why I haven't gotten anymore plants yet. I'm
currently trying to work on some portfolio pieces so I can apply for a
new job, so that's kind of on top of the to-do list right now.
