I think the LC house may be a little bit shorter than the bottom floor
of the 3rd house actually, I'll have a comparison shot of all 3
tomorrow. Started working on some more snow textures, here's some WIP
shots.

You might also want to put abit of frosted ice on anything metal or
glass that you have to texture, aswell as putting on the snow (Metal
door handles, windows, etc).
But those textures are looking good so far

Outstanding, Cow!
Two of those ends put together would make a good (short) longhouse, and
with the doors and windows as separate meshes, we have a lot of room
for variations. I could use more stone and iron and less wood for
Whiterun, though, since wood is rather scarce and expensive there.
Hmmm - maybe we should develop a northern hardwood that grows in the mountain valleys and leeward areas?
Cow, just a quick question: are you also working on int's for those
ext's? (we'll probably also need rather unique furniture and clutter.) |

Ok, let's not get carried away with the metal. Whiterun isn't populated by Dwemer ya know.

Yeah, we should probably have something like that.

I'll make the metal look more frosty rather than just having snow on
it. Might try and do a window texture today to see how it turns out.
I can try and implement more stone and metal into the houses I've done
so far since it's currently using like 3-4 different wood types, a
couple of those can easily be traded for stone or metal.
I haven't started the interiors yet, I wanted to get all the exteriors
reworked so I have a feel for the style. But if someone wants to help
out with the int's, I have no problem with that

I don't want to sound over demanding or anything, but I have to ask (
)... Will you be willing to model a few completely new exteriors for
the set (a few LC houses mainly, variations of the small LC house)?

I had planned to, but I'm still checking out what's already done, etc.
I also still have a lot of other things I need to finish, so I'll most
likely get a few of these current exteriors done, get them to
greybeard. And go back and try and finish one or two of the other
things that I've been working on. But we'll see how what happens

Here's a size comparison of the 3 nord houses buildings I've done so
far. I also threw on some stone and metal textures on them to get a
rough feeling of how it'd look, but by no means is it final. I'd have
to reUV some stuff and find a better metal texture (used the first one
I found). Would also have to make the metal mesh look more like...well,
metal.. and less like wood.

http://www.hibirddesign.com/files/MarksWork/3in102.jpg
The middle is the tallest. The left is about the same size as the
bottom floor of the middle. The top of the right is just slightly
shorter than the middle.
Also made a few more snowy textures. (In a texturing mood, what can I say, haha)
Worked on the door a little more:
Part of the sidewalk:
Shutter:
Part snowy farmhouse:

I'll be gone all weekend to let you guys know, if you want me to know
anything to fix/work on, let me know within the next 7 hours (?) of
this post, haha. I may be taking my comp with me, but I may not. If I
do, I won't have internet, but I should be able to get some more stuff
done when I get back Monday.

All excellent stuff!
The original wood textures looked more natural IMO, but I'll let Grey decide.
Btw, isn't there already a snowy farmhouse in OB (like a stock re-texture)?

Yeah there is, but OB's snow is so dark and not snowy enough. The roof
is still a WIP kind of, just wanted to see how it looked.

Well I'm back, and have nothing new. Didn't bring my computer with me,
so I was just able to relax all of New Years weekend which was nice,
haha (though I did get bored some times and wish I had my precious
computer)
But anyway, I start a new job Wednesday so I may not have as much time
as I did the past few weeks I've been around, but I'll still try to
make time to help out. And I still plan on finishing everything on my
current list.
So right now I'm just checking the posts I've missed and I guess continue working on some stuff.

Just wanted to give you guys an update as I haven't posted much
recently. Haven't really done much for Skyrim the past couple of weeks,
seems my new job takes a lot out of me I don't have much to work with
when I get home. And on weekends I'm just lazy.
Now I'm not saying I'm leaving, definately not, just not going as fast
as I was when I joined. I also started helping out TheDCProject with The Imperial City Reborn,
which I'm sure you're all familiar with, felt bad that he lost
everything and wanted to give him a hand with a new start. But I've
helped Gustave and TOYB with some stuff threw PMs, so if you really
need me to do something, you can always catch me on there. But I
usually read everything here on the forums anyway.
As for stuff I still need to finish and work on..
~ Palisade Fort
~ Castle Karstaag
~ Traditional Nordic Architecture Set
And Gustave has asked me if I could finish the Amol architecture for
DarknessEternal (yeah I read your PM, just forgot to reply, sorry!), I
would but it'll be just too much. Later on down the line once I finish
my stuff and no one has picked it up yet, I'd be glad to.
So that's my quick status update.

have time to post anything (Busy in RL). I was talking to him about

Hey, sorry I haven't been around guys. I'll read the forum every now
and then just to see what you guys are up to. But sadly I haven't
worked much on anything, modding or personal. Ever since I started my
internship back in Jan. I've been doing nothing but working in Max all
day, so when I get home it's one of the last things I want to do.
If anything, I'll try to find all my files that I was working on and
put them up for download so atleast they won't be lost forever. But you
never know, I may jump back into the modding scene eventually, I'm
weird like that. (I've been working on this one flash game off and on
for the past 4 years, still not finished....but I don't know if that's
a good or bad thing...determination?)
Over the past few months I have gotten my website up though! Finally. www.marklemmons.com if anyone wants to check it out. And if anyone is interested in the game that I'm interning for check out www.fallenearth.com

I like your website, it's very simple and effective.
If you could get all the models your were working on uploaded though, that would be truly awesome.

Oh nice website! The models there aren't bad either.
I was just wondering if you've had a chance to upload the stuff you
were working on (the palisades, the traditional Nordic architecture,
etc.). I would actually like to take a look at the palisade models
since I've started messing around with Max and all.

Actually a version of the palisade models were uploaded a while ago,
they didn't have the gate with them, but still. Try looking further
back through the thread, if you can't find them I have them saved to my
hard disk, and can upload them to filefront or something. |

I know, I'm just not sure if that's the last version. Even so we could
really use the other models (like the traditional architecture for
Sunguard).

I know, it was just because you said you wanted to work with the
palisades in max, I wasn't sure if you knew... that I knew that you
knew that I knew that you were going to know that I didn't know that
you knew. |

Hey, I've uploaded some files. I was going through my hard drive and
found some old zips of stuff that I've put up before a while back. I
didn't check any of it, and I couldn't really find anything else.
Everything should be in .nif and .dds format though, so you should be
able to import into Maya, Max, or Blender to edit, along with Photoshop
for the .dds'
Sorry I couldn't get this up sooner, haven't done any modding for a few
months now... but I just bought a new computer which I'll be putting
together this weekend...so MAYBE with the improved performance over
this old machine, I MIGHT start modding again, but don't quote me on
it. I would love to help out some more though. I've gotten a lot better
in Max so I'd probably be able to produce better models that what I've
got here.

Palisade_Tileset.rar [Mirror]

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff, I'll try to search some more if
you want anything specific and I'll try to respond in less than a
month's time.

Good to hear from you again!
Thanks for taking the time to upload your work.
The only other thing I can remember is the ice fortress/castle you made
for Solstheim that I can't seem to remember the name of at the moment.
I hope you can come back to the team (and modding) in the not-so-distant future.

Ah yes, Karstaag, I'll see if I can't find that when I get off work in a few hours.
I hope to come back too, maybe even learn how to use the CS without it
crashing on me all the time. You guys will have to teach me a few
things with that. At least It'd feel like I'm not pigeonholed into just
doing models (though modeling is still fun, but wouldn't mind the
actual level design part of things)
Hmm..All this talk about it is getting me interested back into it, how
far along are you guys now? I saw some Silgrad Tower videos yesterday,
and man are they coming along.

Alright, thanks Siegfried.
I found Karstaag, I'm assuming it's the right file since I found it in
the Oblivion Game folder. I remember that I was having trouble with the
LOD so someone will have to take a look at that. Also was having
trouble with the collision, that might have been a 'I didn't know what
I was doing at that time' kind of thing. I think the scale might be off
too....

Sweet
Hey, I know you're kind of busy, but could you convert the Nord Houses
to .nif format when you find that time so I can bring them ingame,
also, there were some wall pieces with the original files, but I didn't
see any walls in the file I downloaded. Could you look into digging
those up and getting them converted too please? |

Wall pieces? Hmmm....Not sure...for the nord houses there were wall pieces?
I got my new computer in, it's pretty.
I've got Oblivion installed, got max installed (I pretty much just use
max now so there shouldn't be any complications I was having before
when using Maya), Photoshop installed, and the CS installed. Hopefully
have all the exporters and stuff installed again too.
I think I'm going to just do some test models and stuff first to make
sure I understand everything again, it has been a few months since I've
worked with nifskope, the cs, etc. I'll probably have some questions so
keep a look out for them. But for the most part, I'm back and ready to
mod (almost).
One main question I have starting off deals with the CS...
How do you go about creating a 'new world' so you can test your stuff
out without worrying about the main oblivion game. And once you get
that 'new world' set up, how can you test it in game. (transport there?
or start out there? how?)
Thanks! and Hi!

Go into "World Spaces" at the top, then right click on the list and go
"new", then you have your settings for the world (they don't matter
that much), then go into the cell list window, and change what
folder/world space it is in to what you called your world (it'll be on
interiors to begin with). Then you can edit the land using the
landscape editor (bring it up with "h"), and then bring up the land
above the water level, so that you can place whatever you need to on
land. To make get to the world, I suggest you make a door from your
world space, to outside the prison sewers (go into doors, select a non
unique door and place it in your new world, then one outside the prison
sewers, then double click on one of the doors, bringing up a window,
and go into teleport, select which cell, then select which door).
I hope that helps
