Thanks...but I started over, haha. I didn't think it was looking too
good so I started a different modelling style to see which is better.
I'll post up a pic of what it looks like now once it's decent enough to
show off.

It's not a different castle style, just how I am modelling it, as in
the technique. I have been thinking about how I could add to the castle
though. Though I know it's important to keep it original since it's the
same castle, it'd be cool to see it 'revised' in some way for a
'next-gen' sort of feel I guess. But that's just something I've been
pondering. It still currently looks as it did in BM.
Edit 2006.12.21 00:45:
Ok, here's an update of it. I'm still tweaking the texture a bit, but
it's getting there. I think the corner pieces are a little too thick
and short, so I think I'm going to thin up a bit and make them a little
taller, and then they'll be good. Unless someone else has any
suggestions.

Looks good so far, I like the thick corners.
In my opinion you shouldn't worry about making it exact or anything.
Ice changes shape and I'm sure there is some time passed between the
events of Bloodmoon and Oblivion right?

Glad you guys like the direction it's going in. I'm working on the
sidewall now, and that will look a lot different from the original. I
was working on making it look like the original in BM...but just
thought it was coming out terrible..so while I continued to model it
anyway, I thought of another way of doing it. It turned out to not look
as evil (real round and 'bubbley' instead of sharp)...so I tweaked it a
bit and to my surprise, turned it into a sharp and evil ice wall of
doom. But of course, if no one else likes it, I'll definately continue
with the original. I'll have pictures of it up soon.

Ok, this is where it's at now. I kept the beefier corners. This was the
new side wall I was talking about. It's got a lot more extrusions than
the original. Let me know what you think. I may also have to uv it and
make it's own texture rather than having a tiled texture. I should be
able to show off the deep crevices better that way.

Oh yes, it looks VERY evil!
Great work... once again!
Oh oh, make the spikes at the top taller!

I think the entrance needs to be bigger, and the front needs to work with it, like it is something grand.
I do however like where you going with this
If you could it would also be nice to see some of those rocks/pillars
next to the castle made from the same sort of ice (Check the ref pics).

I made the door area larger as well as added a placeholder door. Also
made the door frame area more 'grand'...kind of. Added the rock pillars
in the front, also added some smaller pillars for an even more grand
entrance. And made the spikes taller..well some, still working on that.
Still would like to see some more original screenshots of the thing. The top if at all possible. As well as the tower?

Go go gadget cow!
Awesome work on the castle. It captures the feel of the original immensely.

Well I quickly got it into OB just to see how easy it would be. I made
a lod for it but it didn't really work.. also when I looked too far
down or too far up, it completely disappeared, no matter how close I
was. And in the CS, I could barely click it, and I couldn't move
it...the bounding box that's suppose to be around the whole thing was
just a little tiny box hidden inside of it. So the door is kind
of...under ground haha, so I couldn't see if it was big enough.

lol why does it always rain when you want to take screen shots!
Not sure about those glitches.
I have heard of stuff about the bounding box. But I can't remember anything sorry.

Yeah I'm still working on the size, it should be more accurate once I
properly export it. And I'll make sure to post on the elder scrolls
forum if the invisibility and other problems I had continue to occur.
As for the rain, it's been raining in my game ever since I installed it
(about a week now). I think it's one of my Weather mods, meh, oh well.
(I had to brighten those last two screen shots in photoshop because of
the stupid weather)
I'm still working on the castle, but I'm also starting to take a look at Prometheus' Nord Architecture package.
So updates on that should be coming soon. Would you want me to
retexture these pieces or will someone else take care of that? I know
the current textures it comes with are kind of 'placeholders', but OB
already has a lot of good textures in it, I threw a few on there that
are bruma textures and it looks a lot more natural. Wasn't sure if you
guys were going to do the same or make a new set for them.. Guess it
depends on where the architecture is going to be used?

Try some stock OB textures and if it looks good we might just keep them.

Oh ok, I just put a bunch of ice spikes up there for the roof. But the 'tower' can certainly be made
Edit 2006.12.26 06:05:
Been home for the holidays but I've been working on the nord architecture every now and then like I mentioned before.
Remodelled slightly (not noticable), reUVed, and retextured one of the
houses. Also have 2 versions, one with snow piles and one without.
Prometheus' Before:
After:

http://www.hibirddesign.com/files/MarksWork/House05.jpg
http://www.hibirddesign.com/files/MarksWork/House06.jpg
Most of the textures are OB Bruma and basic wood textures. Had to make
a new roof texture, wasn't too sure what to do with it. Psychotic said
this architecture will probably be used for Whiterun, so are these the
types of materials Whiterun would use?

Nice work!
As you get them done, I'll put them in Whiterun. They'll still need matching int's, but that's another story.

Got another house reworked. All these still need doors and windows
added to them, but I'll worry about that once I get all the of them
retextured..then I can just make a few windows and slap them on in
places, easy peasy.
I guess this is a LC house. Also has a snow piled version which has
some snow stopped up on the roof because it's shaped weird. Might bee
too much but I guess it depends on how hard it's been snowing, haha.

It looks great, but I do think the big snow pile looks a bit unnatural... perhaps you can go without that pile.
All else looks cool though!

Sorry, but I gotta disagree - I like the snow. And checking the dormers out the window, it looks about right, too.
About the doors and windows - maybe make them as separate meshes so we can make each building a bit more unique.

Yeah, that would be good.
I just think that the snow should be more evenly distributed along the roof, though it's not that important.

I agree that it's a little too much, looked weird to me but wanted to see what you guys thought.
I've got a new one done. Really big building...didn't really know how
to scale it though. I looked at how the stone foundation was and how
the roof goes all the way to the stone, unlike the first house I did
where there's roof, logs, stone. Also looked at how many floors it is
(about 3) So it's about the same size as that first house I retextured.
The top of the door will probably be at the top of the stone, so it'll
be flush between the stone and log wall. I'll hurry and try to get a
few door and window models in these 3 that I've done so Greybeard can
start doing what he needs to with them.

Looks very good.
The 3 (or is it 4?) extensions that come out of the sides of this
building should be about the same size as the second building you did
(the small LC house)... perhaps that helps with determining the overall
scale.
