else space to mod so we will need TOYB to tell us what size is max |
I don't know why an .esp file would be as big as 128mbs, my MW
moonshadow.esp file is only 15Mb, and I imported at that size, I don't
see why an OB.esp would be any different, the .esp format between the
two games I hear is very similar.
Anyway, from my experience with heightmap .esp files, they compress
very well, especially when its only a landmass. I once zipped at 70Mb
.esp into a 3Mb zip. Once you start placing objects and stuff I guess
it would build up, but I doubt it will get over 100mb.
But would a file size matter anyway? There should be no limit really,
even when I was on dial-up I was still downloading big 500mb files all
the time.

AWESOME MAP OF MOONSHADOW!!!!
Vality7, you are so talented!! Plus, I like your 3D maps for Morrowind.
I downloaded it and I added it to my bad guys base. I had a conference
room, and it needed something special. So I added the 3D maps as
invasion maps. It gave it that evil scheme ambience.
Good work!

Thanks, i'm glad you like them and were able to put them to good use.
I'll talk to Lightwave tommorow about importing the map, shouldn't take long to sort out.

lsimm14:
We have to use LW's utility to get it into the CS, the Height Map
program can't just import by itself. Also I strongly advise not to spilt
the Height Map, and instead just make a copy of it, and change the
invisible barriers on the Height Maps (this is so you can still see
Dawn/Dusk from the other Island, but still having a differnt set of
weather).
Vality7: Can you get LW to make an OB version aswell, and of a
few differnt sizes? (As we still have to make Moonshadow a workible
size for Modding).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that the Height Map is sorted out, lets move onto quest design and
planning, because like world building we can't have to many.
So I'm thinking 1-2 misc quests for each town, and 2-4 for each city;
no factions, and the Mainquest (sort of like how many in SI).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This will be the only realm, where this much work is done, the
others will be a lot less then this, ranging from 1-3 total quests,
little to no exteriors, and a maximin a total of 18 interior cells.

a gate on wither side and on dusk the palace is underground |
Underground is a good idea.
As for the worldspace thing, i've never even seen the Oblivion CS, so I
don't know anything about it, but the only way I can understand it, is
that you import the whole heightmap twice into two seperate
worldspaces, then in each have some kind of invisible barrier dividing
it in the sea between (so you'd get a message only if you tried to swim
across. Any sort of visible wall wouldn't work, theres no need for
walls in Moonshadow anyway. A gateway through with a dock or something
could be placed on the coast near where I had placed Quantra.
Anyway, as I said, the whole war thing, problems and stuff between Dawn
and Dusk..I dunno, to me it just feels too cliche. Though I do like the
idea of having to decide for yourself what is good and bad, whats right
and wrong, who's side are you on, why are you fighting etc.
You said "taking up arms"...why would there be a need for arms in
Moonshadow? The way Moonshadow is described, it feels like its the
realm of paradise, bliss, harmony and eternal peace. Sure Azura has her
bad side, but it just seems like the kind of place where there would
never be any such chaos. I don't know what the 'Hogithum Halls'
incident was about, but I thought that was something to do with Sotha
Sil, or in the city of Sotha Sil, not the capital of Moonshadow.
I guess its a lot harder to think of a story line that didn't involve
fighting, but I just personally think its been overdone, and to me is
kinda lame, as I think that such a scenario just doesn't belong in such
a place.
I just think how if this is part of Thras, you're visting all these
realms, why would the one thats meant to be all pure suddenly have all
these problems as soon as you arrive?
But yeh, its your mod, your call.
|
I think fighting though is needed, oh and your map and mod look excelent, I really really like the look of your map, good job!
I kinda like the idea of switching the crystals but I think that once
the crystals were switched dawn becomes dusk and dusk becomes dawn,
your main goal would be to get the dawn crystal from the Temple of Dusk
and the dusk crystal from the temple of dawn, and then you are
finished, but of course a reward from Azura is given also.
Just my little addition to your idea but no dawn people fighting dusk
people just seems odd, instead just the temples have protectors and it
is kinda like a dungeon.

I think the point is to try to allow the emphasis of beauty, love, and
twilight, etc. but in a subtle way that makes it interesting and
'playable' considering Oblivion is a combat sortof game, but if
properly done it can be very fun and make the player feel invested in
the scenario, its hard to explain
oh by the way, sorta off-topic but just leetin ya'll know, my
Coldharbour thoughts are coming along but I am drawing map and doing
different things and making a concept of a short but very fast paced
and exciting questline that gets you out... just to let you all know |

I wasn't going to split the heightmap, I was going to import the entire
map twice into two different worldspaces. I don't know if I can import
two worldspaces into one .esp, thats what I need Lightwave's help with.

What do you mean aswell, i've already imported it as a MW version over a week ago, and am about 5% complete making my mod.
I'm just going import it at my size for now, and see how you like that,
its a perfect size, not to big, not to small. Especially good for a
small team. You still haven't answered my question about my calculation.

I'm not to good with caculations
, and it doesn't really matter anyway (because it's the actual size
that matters). And don't worry about making it another world space,
that can be done in less than a second in the CS
.
