A quest with lore. (Dwarfs)
Hi
at last my exams ended, and now i can fully dedicate myself to create quests and read lore about this, i've found myself quite interested about Dwarves and all that they left behind, about the decision of a whole race about... well, whaterver they did on Red Mountain (they turned themeselves some kind of ghosts if i'm not wrong...). My idea about a quest is this one: You recieve a letter from the Nerevar himself, asking you a task. He explains in his (id could be her...) letter that he encommends you this task since the similarities of your precedent quests (both were risiners, and the emperor Uriel "pushed" you to heroism (or great evilness >: D). The task itself seems easy, you have t collect the twelve books of Sigfred Ilhem's (this can be changed XD) diary, beeing him one of the ones who where there at red mountain. He was a Dwarf, and a chronicle about the last days of the Dwarves over Tamriel's face is supposed to be told in them. The only clue of their existence is a page from the first volume, wich the Nerevar has attached you. He suggests you to visit the Arcane Univesity library, for, possibly, further information. (of course, afte the last piece of the diary, you would be able to see the Nerevar, or Sthing like that, since he's currently vanished...) With this, we have an excuse to send the PC looking for Dwaren Ruins all over Tamriel (most of them would be on MW, thought), adquiering, in the procces, a good amount of lore (of course, we wouldn't reveal what happend with the dwarves exactly) about of Dwarven way of thinking, how did they comfront their imminent change, and the other stde tale of the battle (we already know Vivec's). so this is my proposition for a sidequest, i can do the dungies, write the diary, and even ilustrate it, what i can't do is script NPC's nor Quests (don't know yet, i hope to learn in the process) and i can't 3D model (thought i've tryed it a lot ). It should be good to have the aid of s1 who knows the lore better than i do, to correct me if i do sthng i shouldn't. The quest is thought to take place in various places over Tamriel, but we could start by doing the first dungie un Cyrodiil and Vvanderfell, when it's more complete Please, fell free to tell what you think about the idea. Thanks ^_^

this is prety much imposible without seriously going off lore because:
-the nerevarine is in akavir (and nerevar is dead, so i asume you mean nerevarine) -there are not dwarven ruins all over tamriel. most of them are in MW, with hammerfell having some as well. on a random note: the dwarved disapeared, not turned themselves into ghosts Mongati HoonDing tiavo; li-mansao einei diang. You have the thread in the right location.
I'm agreeing with Lady N on this, but with some thought we can make the quest work.

Ask about our Adventurer's Life Policy (sorry, it does not cover companions that you push off cliffs, throw into Oblivion gates, or eaten by that nearby hungry troll  ) |

well, this was sort of a mock-up, so Nerevarine out of it, i chose him to be s1 important, that's the idea, about the dwarven ruins, i know most are in MW, but, hey, ain't there ANY ruin in, to say, the Black Marsh? didn't they dig under surface? a whole race of diggers dig a lot... and if dwarves didn't construct outside MW and Hammerfell, who did the Imperial Orrery?(anyway, it's not necesary to the tomes to be in Dwarven ruins, we could place them any other place, for example, in a sunken ship in frint of the Bitter Coast, or near the IC, for example... Perhaps stuck on a Glacier on Hammerfell... Who Knows, they're a lot of tomes )
About the Dwarven dissapearance, from what i've read, they didn't exactly do that, but they transformed themeselves into "gods" (that's what Vivec says...) so thinking about it they'd rather travelled to another plane or something, but unveiling that is not the propouse of finding the diary, but to know the previous days, the why did they decide to do that, because they prepared it, so it was not accidental... By the way, i'm finishing a dungeon i'd like to use for this (used the cave and Ayelyd set, since there's no Dwarven set in Oblivion, but i'm thinking about tryiing with the orrery parts, thought there are not many of them...) and gonna place it with an underwater entrance, i'll upload the file tomorrow evening (GMT ) with the first attempt of the first tome, it will obviously be filled up with lore conflicts, but i'll try to polish it hope you like it ))) PD: sorry for my spelling, this keyboard has too much D3, Q4, and so on over it, so i'll buy a new one... as soon as i stop spending the money on beer XD

No, they're only in Morrowind and a few in Hammerfell (from a clan who self-exiled itself from Resdayn because it didn't want to be allied with the Chimer).

XD). Sorry for the off topic now, the person who sends you the letter could be the king of Vvanderfell... we could even isert some sort of colateral danger, such as the books beeing written in Dwarven, and having to translate them, but suddently, the traductor on charge get's killed and you have to find s1 to traduct them

King of vvardenfell? do you mean Duke of Vardenfell (Dren) or the King of Morrowind (Hlaalu Helseth)? because there is no such thing as the king of vvardenfell.
the orrery in the AU was built by the imperials using parts from MW orrery's (part of the quest) anyhow, i sugest that you read up on thedwemer and anything related on TIL: The Imperial Library Mongati HoonDing tiavo; li-mansao einei diang. Cassandra for the memospore era |

Quote:Originally posted by dn@Gaah. Vvardenfell! Not Vvanderfell! And there is no "King of Vvardenfell". There's a Duke, but he's an Imperial figurehead. Native Dunmer hate feudal monarchies and prefer their more balanced, fair, and far less corruptable Council. |

dn@: Mm... it's a very delicate subject matter and rife with lore at every turn, and Dwemer mythology is something a lot of players (who played Morrowind) are acquainted with, so it's hard to put stuff in that breaks lore without a lot of players picking up on it. There's a lot of "mystery" surrounding the disappearance of the Dwemer; there's no single unifying theory. Rather Bethesda has created several different theories, all of which could be true. If you ask me, it all mounts up to them wanting to keep their options open in case they want to make an Elder Scrolls game focusing on them.
But I think the most popular theory is that Azura eradicated them because they offended the true Gods by creating a false God, i.e. the Numidium - the huge Dwemer robot that helped Tiber Septim conquer Tamriel. If you played Morrowind's main quest you got to see Numidium, as that's what Dagoth Ur tried to awaken in the huge chamber. (I'm a bit hazy on all this, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) But hey, if you're that into the dwemer, maybe Rodan has a dwemer ruin planned in the Blacklight area? If not, I know there is a huge one further south dubbed Dumac - connected to the Dwemer king of the same name. 'Couse, we'll need some Dwemer models first if that's going to happen.
