I say that there may be other issues, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. for now, we make towns in a worldspace, and if we decide to, move them onto the heightmap when it is done.

Maybe release areas of the heightmap as its being made, so we can test it out.

The Blue Mosque is sooo superb, and purrfect for Khajiit.
The Ye Olde Barde - hmmmm, time you looked at this again. You are making some very sweeping and damaging assumptions. No need to exclude either the wooden houses or the desert. Consider, who said that there is only one desert? Check the World Maps! And not all Arabic Cultures are desert-based. Look at the Khajiit NPCs in Morrowind and even the name. It is clear that they have a strong Arabic-influence to their culture. Clearly Egyptians especially worshipped cats - because their civilisation was originally founded on the grain that they grew in vast quantities, which they domesticated cats to protect? But there are other important cats all over the RL world (Persian, Siamese, etc), so maybe you could have different cats with different cultural preferences, but all elegant of course! ![]() What is needed is a Geo-Political map of the province if there is not one here already somewhere. Maybe you could ask Kukulza if he would like to do one as his maps are well researched. I suspect that you have to split the provice up into regions that take on the characteristics of their neighbours at the borders = especially jungle and forested on the border with Valenwood, which is where you should find the wooden buildings mentioned earlier, tree-houses, etc. To the North towards Cyrodiil, a more temperate architecture and culture, etc... My 2p/2c/2dracs worth! edit: Dark As, must say both your pics are interesting. The first is the kind of crazy collage that some crazy cats might like, and the second would provide exterior access and stuff that climbing cats would enjoy. Could the boxy exterior have wooden posts and 'runners' that cats could climb up and along? and what about scratching poles??? ![]() Maybe that is the way to go... consider what knd of forms and functions would a cat consider essential? Different designs and sizes for the different 'types.' Some have claws, some have 'feet,' some biiig, some tiny... cushions, wooden floors or deep rugs so that claws can get a hold. And marble floors for security = no fighting, etc. Room for imagination here. We might contact cat type societies and organisations for more ideas.

I think rtaher than cutting up the culture, we take things from all of tehse real world cultures to make our own well suited one.

I was going to post this the other day... then Silgrad crashed.
A few of you might have seen this one already... ![]() Here's another one that shows some of the building's dimensions better... ![]() When I was drawing/ coloring these, I figured they'd come in varying shapes and sizes... namely squared and rectangular. Another thing to add variety would making some in disrepair, possible a lower class home. On the top of the roofs could be cloth canopies, with places to sit to catch some shade; kind of like a balcony/top porch. Merchant and Middle class homes in this style would be 2 stories tall, with better attire/etc.

I like it! This will definately help us. We now have a little more direction to go to in terms of modelling...

Yes, I realize this may be a little much to ask, but it would be great if you can make some o that with multipul tiers and sloped roofs, I love the art!

To throw out another notion...how permanent are the settlements in the northern portion of the province? The few things I've read refer to much of the northern Khajit population being nomadic.
I could see a smaller outpost being little more than a grouping of tents and awnings surrounding a well or oasis. These could range from small, rather plain tents that blend into the surrounding desert to elaborate, ornate pavilions to house a chieftan or religious leader. Also, tents have the advantage of being fairly simple to model and a simple texture swap gives you a lot of variety. |

This tileset is for the desert... I'm not sure about where you got the info about being nomadic... Where did you find it?
Also, some of the more northern cities might be mostly imperial, but I could be wrong. |
