Battle
Hey guys im just wondering how big do you guys plan on in battles certain amount of npcs, im thinking of some battle plan quests right now, Such as leading 4 ashlander archers and ambushing some redoran convoy or imperial legion of like 14 charging a small town or walking with your new plans for the general and all of a sudden morag tong assassins appear
Some say im here, Others say im there, but really... I am every where
Beware I am Shadow I am the darkness in the corner waiting for you to take your mind off things for a moment then I strike without hesitation and leave no trail |

it is hard to say....
I am thinking for lage battles for only up to the max # of npcs to be fighting (for the game to be smooth) then every time one side's warrior dies, another is spawned nearby.... OR there will be 2 war camps, and about 10 soldiers respawn as soon as the the warriors on the battlefield begin to die... trigers ans scripting... aiya something like that... I think battles should be classified as large scale combat... and so, I would categorize them as: Skirmish: few troops and just light fighting, a few casualties Raid: again a few troops but raiders raid a camp or settlement Siege: a large battle involving a settlement Battle: open combat, lots of guys |

Right now, we are not sure what Oblivion will offer in the terms of large battles. From screenshots, it looks as though it will offer much more than Morrowind, but for right now, we can't be certain.
Respawning always sounds best though. Even if OB can handle it, it wouldn't strain those of us that have lower-end PCs. |

I believe we should keep the battles fairly small, maybe 4 vs 4. But you could make a interior a battlefield, make it appear as though you stay in the same battle, but youre really going from interior to interior. Though I don't know how the doors work so that might not work...

that's the point... I think at any given time there should be 20 or less, but then warriors will spawn nearby to allow the battle to go on...
if only a skirmish it requires no respawn... |

I would suggest that we keep the House war limited to small engagements, raids and counter-raids. If we wanted to get fancy, we could assault a city, say Balmora, with two or three small strike forces of about five NCPs apiece. Say that one enters from the north, one from the south-east, and another Teleports into downtown. They each then seperately ransack a specific area, maybe making their way to the wealthy hilltop area, and the PC, if allied with Hlallu must fight them seperately on their way. This would give the illusion of big, important events taking place, but without as much happening onscreen and thus not as much lag. The same could be done with the possible assault on Vivec, or since he's rather neutral, I would suggest on Ebonheart. Each area of the city could be assailed seperately but simultaniously via boats, dreugh, whatever. As Caius would say, "Think locally."

Good idea! Also, we could have a team raiding the exterior and teams ransacking a lot of interiors, thus avoiding the slow-down problem
