Uploaded a new version. I'll be putting this to the side for now, though. It more or less came out as I was working on an intro for another idea. An idea that is more melodic and without the choir.
There's some choir in the Oblivion public music though I must admit I need to purchase a better sample library for the choirs. The one I have now seems to hate me. Either way, how's the rest of the mod progressing? You guys have a timeline yet? |

It's a good time to ask that question since we just updated the esm and, more relevantly, I just updated this thread: Path To Glory .
I think we really need to get our races and AIs sorted now so that we can begin to make big strides in terms of the quest-making. The big things lately have been that we've recently been revamping Stormhold and Gideon and working on Soulrest which means we now have our three cities well on the way. Plus we now have the Everglades generated and I'm busy working on sorting out the assets for the other two beta regions. Still lots of landscaping and interiors to do though but we're making good progress. We could just use some more modders though.

I've been working on getting some battle themes and I need a quick consult on number 3. 6 seconds in there's a part that I first wanted to revise because it was too slow but then the melody got stuck in my head and I'm now torn as to which way to go.
It's here. Have a listen to it and tell me if it fits as battle music. |

I love that melody, Xae! I say crank that part up as you go and have crashing sounds over the top. That's how I could imagine it developing into battle music. It's got a bit more character than the usual 'crash-bang' stuff because you're likely to want to listen to it longer than the course of a fight....of course, we've been discussing the possibility of a long battle scene and this might well fit in nicely. We could probably set it up so that this tune is played.

Regarding the length of the public/town music. Being that only a few settlements are walled, I take it the majority would use the atmosphere/explore music instead.
As it stands, I'm working on the fourth town piece, with the idea (or blueprint, if you will) for the fifth more or less done. Oblivion has around 12 minutes of public music and I'm currently at 8. If I continue I'll land at around 12 when the fifth is done. My question is, is it better to only use the first three (at 7 minutes total) and leave out the remaining two to save 5-10 Mb of space if the public music won't be as frequent as in Oblivion? |

Well, I believe it's possible to set the music for particular cells. At least, I know there is the option to do that in the CS. Our settlement cells are quite well defined so it should feature the town music rather well. Likewise, despite the fact that there are a lot of towns in the actual worldspace, we nonetheless have three cities and this is quite a lot for the beta release, especially when you consider the amount of cities in Tamriel. It's just that we have more small settlements and lesser-sized cities.
I guess it's up to you though. It would be best in terms of overall quality to use only the best stuff but that's not always possible with music because you have to have different mixes and sometimes different 'movements' in music need to build up, so I leave that to your discretion. Btw, the link in this post: Black Marsh OST doesn't seem to want to work for me. It just gets stuck on 'loading playlist' for some reason.

Well, I took that link down a couple of days after I posted it here, like I usually do when I keep working on the piece. Did you not get a chance to listen to it?
I figure that when I have 2 pieces finished of each music type (I think the explore music needs to be redone. I feel like I'm doing more learning than composing) I'll let the BM page on my site have 2 songs from each type permanently for PR purposes, and the WIPs can go to BM_wips or something like that. I wouldn't want to make a soundtrack where some parts are significantly worse quality than the others, if that's what you mean. Naturally, if anyone feels that a particular piece is unfitting or just bad, I'll gladly redo it. I'll take criticism over a poor soundtrack any day (someone should've told Kai Rosenkranz that Gothic III was a video game and not a TV show). |

Aye, just craft away and take your time with it, Xae. And no, I didn't get the chance to listen to it. I have to be away doing all sorts at the moment so I sometimes miss posts. Post it up again in your own time and maybe PM me to make sure I get directed straight there.
