if there are 'normals' contributing to the main Cerro Enclave/s then the Cerro will be discovered.

I was refering to normal folk as in Cerro who are just common folk

Other Normal Cerro might be Traders, Pawnbrokers, a Bank Teller, Inn Keeper etc etc

What everyone was thinking at first was that the young vamires would be out gathering alchemical ingredients, hunting other vampires, and taking the odd snack as occasion demanded.

Now we have the idea of the potion/s amking it possible for Cerro to satisfyingly drink animal blood instead of human - until the 'rage' begins...

The idea of 'young Cerro vampires' working in agricultural occupations or 9 to 5 in an office just never occurred to me.

Thing is, why would they be willing to or want to? Guards maybe, but very few would have that mentality. And the more Cerro there are in such close proximity to 'normal Redorans' the more chance at exposure.

Vampires tend to just take. The potion just redirects that take instinct towards animals.

The 'Masters are carefully selected and groomed over decades and centuries so that they can ineract with Dunmer society, and they are needed as overseers in thecommunity below to see to it that the young Cerro do not get out of hand as much as to carry out other supervisory duties.

Now that the 'rage' is about to appear, or is appearing all this is or is about to be jeopardised ...

A lot of TES4 is about increased numbers I suspect, but the Cerro are about how a small and very insular clique has a lot of influence and power just through knowing what is going on, and working with only the right people.

I see your point of view on the younger cerro members, my thought was always that they blend in with everyday redoran, performing their daily lives, but with a more darker/secretive side

I thought that the use of hidden doorways in their homes or stores which would lead them to their hidden underground to do their dirty work

Also it adds to the unsuspected, a traveler stops in Silgrad for a bite to eat or a drink and stops by the Forgotten Pub, sits to relax and enjoy a good hot meal, He call the waitress over asks what the special of the day is, she says its Fired Guar in Comberry Sauce, He thinks Yummy and orders up, after several Pints of Ale he must take a break and heads toward the bathroom, watching him is the waitress, he steps into the stall and as he stands relieving his enlarged bladder he feels a sharp pinch on his shoulder, quickly he turns, but sees nothing, then just as quick he falls to the floor. After some time he awakes, dizzy and confused, he feels like he was dreaming. I must have been very tired, he thinks... (the poisionus bite has taken effect) He walks back out to his table, the waitress comments on how long he was in the stall, wondering if he was allright. He nods and says " I must be worn out from the travelling" The waitress recommends a nice Inn where he might stay the night and he thanks her, leaves a generous tip and leaves. He Finds the Inn which she had mentioned, rents a room and settles in for a rest............... During the night he sleeps, nitemareish dreams enter his head..... death, rage he wakes sudenly from the sound of a scream............. He opens his eyes :pop: :eek: Where Am I He Screams

He is in the pits of the cerro underground !!!

Umm, well, what happens when the young Cerro go crazy because of 'the rage?' They all get found out - end of Cerro anonymity which goes against the Lore. the Redoran are not like the Dres.

Also all the other Vampire Clans might get a bit miffed if they ever discover that it was the Cerro knocking them off for all these centuries... and the Redoran start a Vampire hunt... They would never tolerate anything like the Cerro ... so the University comes under suspicion and that goes too ...

Well yes I understand your point, but I thought the whole point of having them blend in like the rest of the Dunmer was so they COULD continue on with their normal daily routines, just like everyone else.

They can't go around sneaking at night collecting victims for the elders then for sure someone will say "Hey where are these people going"

This would give them the ability to pick and choose, no one misses the travelling adventurer. Maybe he just left during the night ???

Hunters would be hunting Wild Animals, what better way to do it then out in the open, can't have rumors going around about the wildlife disappearing "strangely"...

Oh yea.... Draloon Andinsour was out hunting game yesterday. Did you see the size of that bear? Draloon Butchers the Bear Selling the meat to the local market = income for the Cerro, He drains the Blood into a special container which is picked up late at night, and brought to the Lab for processing. No ones the wiser.... Considering the Cerro Middle Ranks Keep an eye on whats going on, they would know quickly if one of their "regulars" hasn't been drinking his/her potion and might quickly take them below to correct the sitaution before someone noticed

Ok so occasionally 1 or 2 may get crazy and be seen or even captured
the powers which the elders have could easily cover that up. Also with some of them being members of the house guard and in some high positions, it would be easy for them to say it was a wild Aunde or Berne Clan Vampire

There are only 3 Councillors and Archie in the Cerro Warrens. And they have 'cattle' there working the mushroom plantations, and fishing in the underground streams. This is important as they want to feed the cattle well and keep them exercised so that their blood is rich.

I would imagine that the hunters would hunt in wild locations, drinking their potions before draining an animal. They might take carcases to a Cerro Hunting Lodge, and the Master might then give them to the Messenger to take into town wherever the Messenger needs to go.

The Cerro Masters do not look like vampires, but... too many around in prominent and percentages take over. They would be found out. If only because every one watches the powerful, and some even employ spies to do so - that is why I am shy of having a Cerro on the council. but having a wealthy Cerro recluse who 'influences' a Councillor of ST - ah that is another matter.

And I do not think you are bad, but you sure do take a lot of convincing, maybe because you want all the possible reasoning out in the open...

Its better to know all the reasons why and why not first hand before we get to deep

It just seems to me that if we keep them hidden and secretive we've done nothing but create another vampire clan.

Now this is acceptable as far as the Elders are concerned they are secretive and hidden

The whole purpose of them developing their skills was to find a cure

During the process of experimentation they discovered a means to allow them to walk among the Mer un-noticed
This potion didn't work on the elders however, their immunities were to high
But they found this ability useful for the younger members
They could live amongst their Dunmer kin
Establishing themselves in the Guilds, the House and in otherwise normal functions of a Dunmer
This would allow them access to things they would need to further their skills and get closer to finding the ultimate cure for their curse

Helping to get the University established would add more cover for their purpose.
Potential victims,The occasional exceptional student, who may come up with something by chance or study which got them closer to their cure.

The Scholar from Argonia who came to give a lecture on properties of The Purple Marsh Weed (very very rare) < just made that up

So having a teacher or 2 wouldn't be unusual.

OK so we don't have to have any on the House Council thats fine, but a House Father, Brother ? why not. members in the Mages Guild, Fighter Guild, Traders Guild, Theives Guild why not?

We don't want them to be found out. No we don't!

So we come up with creative ways to inject them into society

Thing is that the other Vampire Clans are just that = Vampires. Yum, blood, I use weapons, magic, stealth to get what I want. All who see me recognise me as a Vampire, etc... Rowrrrrr...

Not everyone knows any detail about the 3 clans of Vvardenfell, but I believe that it would be surprising if the Powers that be did not.

The Cerro are about absolute caution. A newcomer arrives in a Great House - everyone wants to know where from? And if more arrive who are linked the odds increase with every extra member that something will go wrong.

Dark Elves and Vampires live for hundreds of years. Fings go wrong. fings happen.

Many criminals believe that they are being clever, that no one can catch them, but they get caught ... because there is always someone who spots something.

With Vampires in Dunmer society, if someone suspects ... that's it.

A House Father? then you have to have retainers, etc, and marry, have kids, etc? Can you maintain this? Vampires do not age. You cannot just go off permanently without serious questions ... what happens to your estate when you disappear. We have to think long term here.

House Brother at the most, but how about a scribe + the wealthy eccentric who lives in the backwoods somewhere, and does all his business through his secretary. He is very generous to those he considers friends, and because of that they are very happy to assist him and keep him well informed - including influential members of the House, who know him to be a true Redoran because also when they have a problem that they believe to involve a Vampire he finds solutions. They understand that someone who is prepared to deal with Vampires for them needs to protect his anonymity.

Natch, this happens among friends, there are no records ... and so it is discrete ...

Just about everything else in the Elder Scrolls operates out in the open - what makes the Cerro different is that they are totally behind the scenes operators. They don't do it for profit, or a God, or personal interest. They do act out of belief. They are perhaps the nearest you can get to 'good' Vampires. That's different.

The Nerevarine may well be the first ever outsider who will be able to come and go... but then the Nerevarine is unique.

When someone does the Dres as a joinable faction you will be able to be a Vampire and a member of a House. What we have to do here has to be different.

Why do they need the University? They have a problem - the potions are no longer as effective as they used to be, or becoming unstable, and backfiring. The youngsters especially are becoming prone to 'rage' - revert to the usual Vampire only sucks blood of Man, Mer and 'Beast people,' and they tend to kill their victims if not caught in time.

The Cerro need help to combat this, from whatever source, and pulling together a group of Scholars where they can access their notes and stuff = great stuff.

Better Redoran knights is a big bonus in a different way - the Cerro resist the Hlaalu not only because of their Redoran Ancestry, but because the Hlaalu work hand in glove with the Imperials whose irresponsible attitudes were the source of their Vampirism, and the Imperials still bring Vampires into the province.

The Uni:
If students start disappearing the University will fail - we can form quests on that basis.


Now in practical terms, the Cerro are a small group really. We have to consider that past a certain point they become a major force (they are Vampires) and could just take over Dunmer society, they would become a threat to that society.

The Redoran especially do not like Vampires - nor do other Dunmer. Vampires get found out because someone notices things. But even if no one noticed that they are vampires, once the visible numbers get to a certain point someone would eventually notice lots of links and decide there was a conspiracy. Remember that there is magica, and there are both Gods and Daedra.

There are ways that info can be obtained discretely. And it may be that one of the Masters maintains relations with certain Imperials for the purpose of eliciting certain information.

Remember about Vaniken Ree? The (possibly Akaviri) wineseller? I suggested that he might gain access to the University by selling them wine? What if the Cerro sold something to everyone? A rare and expensive mushroom, or other plant that is hard to get ahold of... a delicacy. That would be a fine basis for knowing all the rich and powerful. And being welcome everywhere. And any who would spy on such a tradesman would expect the tradesman to protect the source of his wealth. Discretion, and the least possible numbers. hh:

I have read some of this topic... and I have a proposition...
what if the Cerro are refugees. What if they are Dres. What if their influence in Dres is the same as the one you propose that they are developing over Redoran? What if the Cerro were a small portion of the old Dres nobility, and they sense change in the new generation and their secrecy could not be contained. Thus they left for Redoran lands long before the new generation of Dres nobles took control and rallied under Helseth...

So what if... the Cerro started from a family name...
and then spread to contain 50 or so vampires. I dunno, just an idea hrug:

The Cerro are the Cerro already I think. We have their background and relations sorted in a fairly strong package that can be improved with beter presentation. So we are looking to refine what we have, turn the blocked out events into Scenarios and apply them.

We are also seeking out complementary events to apply to the timeline.

From your Dres poser we have possible new and powerful scenarios:
- In earlier times, what might have occurred if the Redoran based Cerro Vampires met up with a band of Questing Dres Vampires?

- In the current timeline: What if some Dres Vamps arrive having heard that the University is looking for a cure? Would the Cerro adopt them or eliminate them?

= putting the two together there may be a Dres survivor or two from the first meeting in the Cerro ranks. and that would lead to further info on that House being available in TES3 modern times. Now we have someone who may have insight into Questing Dres - their natures and links in that House ... natch, mistakes can be made ...


These are strong options as they can explore the differing ideologies and natures of Redoran, Dres, Cerro, and Dres V. Questers and their mutual impact. That will happen in later stages of th eTES3 Cerro and Uni scenarios though. First the initial quests to block in the arrival, and creation of the Uni have to be completed.


What we may now see is that in Vampire Kind there are broad varieties of thought and society possible. And though your rebels we can begin a fascinating exploration in TES3 of the deeper nature of House Dres - of which to date we have only hints. :goodjob:
