I like the bamboo texture a lot more. I hope the forest can be more densely populated now.
Exile- I pm'ed you the link which inlcudes 2 new terrain textures 2 moss textures. 1 very flat looking darker green moss and 1 fluffy, more 3 dimensional looking moss. |

@ Lady nerevar - it doesnt really matter what my comp specs are since it comes down to what settings and mods i'm using at that time. Since all the forest fps are done on my comp and using the same mods, its a controlled comparison. All i'm saying is that before mods, i could have everything on max (shadows and all) + antialiasing on my graphics card with no lag.
This new bamboo is a heck of a lot better. I realise it is really hard to turn something so good into a skeleton of its former self but this new file could perhaps still be smaller. If what you said about the better oblivion trees being about the same poly as the bamboo is true, then we should try to go further since the bamboo is so much smaller in size. Heres a more controlled comparison - 1 cell of the preset with 1 as the last bamboo model and 1 with the new. each cell with 100 bamboo trees. ==Old== ==New== ==Npc Height Comparison (you can just see him in the middle)== Also, i'm going to reorganise some of the file directories into their own akavir file for easier sorting later. |

ehm.... thats 35 FPS for 1 cell. If it were a complete forest of these (and all you could see was forest), i predict about half of that. But since we wont have that scenario (thanks to landscaping!), it may be in the 20's. Any FPS figures are just a comparison. I dont think the values you see can be applied to the final product simply because there are so many other variables.
I'm now wondering if we should have some shorter models of these new bamboo trees for a mix. (my character is the height of a nord!) (btw, any new FPS figures from now on, on my comp may be lower now that i installed the Heart of the Dead mod) |

It is looking fantastic.
I have heard that Heart of the Dead is a really good quest mod btw.

Trees look good- much better than the previous version.
I can tell from the screenshots that the "forest tool" does not use all the seeds (unless for this testing you did not input new seeds). Half of the seeds were much shorter trees and I don't see any in the screens. Is there anywhere in the region editor to specify whether to use variables or seeds? If we can't get the different seeds to work, I'll just make different versions and and you can work them into the mix. I'll use the current model for the tallest and add a "yellow" bark Then I'll have a medium and short version (still taller than a Nord) then use the green bark. Did you notice this new version had wind applied back to it? It was by accident, but IMHO a little sway to the trunk seems so much cooler. One thing I can do to make the tree less poly. The branches (not the trunck) have a triangle cross-section (three sides). I could change this to 2 sides. You could see the branches from the side, but if you look up when beneath one, it might not be visible. Little side note- In the tree model that is 5500 polygons, branches were 3500-4000 of those polys. Branches hold the leaves, so when there are less branches, less leaves. |

I put in all the seeds but thats all. I've never seen anything else in the CS to do with tree seeds (the closest in the CS is a Seed number for a land gen noise effect) so you may just have to send in each seed as a separate tree.
Do what you can Ra and enjoy your break Same to everyone else here! EDIT: No need to send the individual seed bamboo files After some Cs tinkering i found that all CS spt's have 1 seed number. All i need to do is make 1 ID for each seed and it works fine. Guess that means all trees in oblivion of the same spt are actually the same! And that there is no randomization, rather the Cs uses the first seed number if available. (i wonder has anyone used seeds to create new tree types in mods yet?) Heres a pic for everyone else. From left to right i named them bambootype0 to bambootype8. However i think i'll rename them according to height later (helps with region gen). |

Some issues to attend to. The bamboo4 with the swaying trunks is crazy during a thunderstorm. But handles well FPS wise.

Now that looks pretty playable.
And looks cool. Now you have to add floras(?) and rocks(!). |
