Custom Landscape Texture Problem
Hi,
I've created my own landscape textures but when I use them in the CS there's a strange looking 'border' around the texture and it looks ugly. This only appears to happen when I layer my custom textures over each other. Stock land textures seem to blend fine so I think it might be something to do with the textures themselves however the textures are seamless and there's no brown border in any of the textures in PS. I've created an example screenshot below: Click I've set up the textures as normal through the Misc -> LandTexture window. All of the textures are 512x512 DXT1 No Alpha (if that's much help). I don't have normal maps yet. Help is appreciated. Thanks, Dave |

i'd set up _n maps first of all, see if that helps at all.

They're there even on vanilla textures. For reasons unknown, landtextures have a base blend texture, which is usually the most dominant land texture in that quarter of a cell. My guess is that it helps blend the textures in that area together to help give it a single look for the environment. But for some reason oftentimes it just uses the default dirt texture. My guess is that it is just more noticable since you are using a lighter texture over a darker texture.
Lol what?

Hmm... so do you know if this is unavoidable?
If not, can you think of any suggestions because right now I think it spoils the look. How do others feel? Do you think the textures look strange with borders? Quote:i'd set up _n maps first of all, see if that helps at all. Yeah I'll do them soon. I'll need them eventually anyway. |

Is there no way at all to cover the edges up?
