In the Beginning
In order to join the Elsweyr branch of the Dark Brotherhood, one must kill in cold blood. This killing will only gain visitation from a speaker if the murder is not quest related and the NPC is friendly. The next time the PC sleeps in an area that is safe, a Khajiit (gender still unspecified and at this point in the game known only as 'Dark Brotherhood Speaker' for questline pruposes) will visit you and give you a speech much like Lucian Lachance did. This Khajiit's face will not be completely visible however, as the top portion of his face is covered by shade. He will give you a gift much like the Blade of Woe, this time it will be a Khajiit style weapon (at this point unspecified and unnamed), and he will tell you to kill a Khajiit male by the name of Qa'Khar. The Speaker will give you directions that are somewhat tough to follow, but for a determined murderer they will suffice to get through the desert. Initiation Qa'Khar can be found in a small shack that is partially covered by a sand dune. Qa'Khar is deaf, but his smell is great, so you can't speak to him but he can still sense you coming. You must kill him, and then sleep in his bed. Until you sleep in his bed nothing will happen. Once you have slept in his bed, the Speaker will return. He will again give you directions that are somewhat tough to follow, but they will be enough for a dedicated Brother. These directions will lead you to a cave that is covered by a large dune. Once you eneter the cave you are at the beginning of a tunnel that heads down at a steep slope, and if you explore the tunnels for a few minutes you should find the same type of door that was in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary, and you answer a question and recieve access (question still unknown, but possibly the same as in Oblivion). The Sanctuary Inside the Sanctuary there are about ten Brothers, about five of these are Khajiit, two are Argonian, and three are Bosmer. The tension between races is quite obvious. In this sanctuary you will recieve your first seven contracts. I just typed this up today, but I have more ideas than just this. If you want me to continue I can, as I have many more ideas for contracts. In my original plans I have created a Dark Brotherhoos style twist, though I still have to perfect it to steer away from other ideas and quests I have seen. I was also wondering: 1)could this involve the retake of Leyawiin, and if not (which is probably the case) would it be allowed to attempt the retake of Oblivion, but be thwarted before even leaving the border? My plans involve a plot for a sanctuary to break away from the rest of the Brotherhood, sinister treachery, and a plot to aid the takeover of the entire province of Elsweyr. If you want me to continue I will, but if you want me to hold for a while I will. I'm not sure who is in charge of this mod, but by DA's title as King of the Kittens (im not sure, but implying Khajiit?). Added: I can only go so far for now, as I am currently tapping into Elsweyr society and geography, and directions can't be added yet because I know very little about the shape of the land in this mod.

Seems to be the way that the DB was handled in-game, but I seem to remember that there is a lot of Lore on the DB that suggests when they first started out there was more to them, but they became twisted along the way ...
Try reading some of the Morrowind and Daggerfall books one rainy afternoon.

Here is a quick sketch of what I have come up with, and I am still giving the people at thedarkbrotherhood.com (who, in only a few hours, have already given me two new quest ideas) time to reply and come up with stuff. I think that between a site of Elsweyr modders and a site of Brotherhood modders, something good will come. I am still working on the storyline behind these murders, but here is what I have come up with for the outline of for Phase 1.
Joining: Kill in cold-blood. Initiation: Killing a deaf hermit deep in the desert, and complete the mission by sleeping in his bed. Accidental Drowning: Kill a Khajiit mage by trapping and drowning him in his own dungeon, which he was using to hold the previous Brother that was sent to kill him. Then kill the Brother to please Sithis' commands. His commands are not to be questioned. Running out of Time: Kill an Imperial captain in his carage without the driver noticing you and before he reaches Orcrest. Army of One: Single-handedly destroy a war-party of Khajiit heading towards Elsweyr without having anyone alert the alarm. Keep the Mane in the dark by not using weapons. Exposed: Silence a female Khajiit noble before she exposes her husband's affair with an Argonian. Deliver her tail to her husband as proof, and her claws to the Sanctuary Mother. Moon Sugar pt. 1: Without killing anyone, protect a moon sugar trader at a midnight trade in the back alleys of Torval. Moon Sugar pt. 2: After the trade, wait until the trader you protected is long gone. Track and kill the other Khajiit involved in the deal and retrieve that money. Kill the Khajiit, pleasing Sithis with each slaying. Silenced: Kill the mysterious traders lover. He tells you she left him exposed. He tells you to lead her to the Arena and trap her in the lion pit. Night Stalker: This is an odd request, but the Night Mother must be pleased. Escort an Argonian male for three days. Kill him the fourth. This killing most be done outside in broad daylight, within the city walls. Death of a Salesman: Kill a traveling merchant with the mysterious dagger he is carrying. He has enchanted armor, and only this dagger will penetrate. There is a catch: he has a spell to deflect the dagger, so he must not know that you have the dagger. Traitor: Kill a member of the Mane that his headed to show the Count of Leyawiin support. Kill his escort, and take his place in delivering the 'bad' news to the Mane. Turf Wars pt. 1: Kill two Morag Tong agents who dare to come into your Speaker's territory. Follow in the fashion of the Night Mother in ancient times by writing Morag Tong in the blood of the murdered on the side of their tent. Expose these two agents as who they were in life and ruin their souls in death. Sithis must be pleased. Turf Wars pt. 2: Eliminate an Imperial Ambassador from Leyawiin and his escort. Nothing special. All you have to do to please the Night Mother is make them poison each other. Death Row: Go into the Torval dungeon and kill the Argonians chained to a wall in the dungeon. Prove your cruelty to Sithis. Last Meal: A loyal member of the Mane is setting up a dinner with a Clan Mother that is speaking out against Khajiit ways kill her by means of poison. Search and Destroy: Catch a member of the Mane meeting with a Bosmer noble female. Kill the female and threaten to expose him, forcing him to live out his days in solitude. Simplicity: A simple one, all you have to do is kill a Khajiit male that lives in Corinth. Kill him before he gets a word out. Take the sealed note laying on his table, and deliver it, unsealed, to THE SPEAKER. This is a rough draft of the murders I have come up with so far. I have left out much of the storyline, because what is the fun of ruining a story before its even finished. I still need more murder ideas, so feel free to drop me a message. Shadow hide you, F.R.

Quote:shadow hide youIsn't that from the Morrowind thiefguild? Anyway I think a male Khajiit and female Bosmer will be more then just solitude for our guy... Proberbly an arrow in the head, if he's lucky. Quest/murder ideas... Hmm I must admit I'm not that farmiliar with Elsewyr... I know some stuff but that's mostly Bosmer related. Anyway what I can come up with: Payback: A group of former slaves find that there trader, another Khajiit, is living quitly in his old days in the wilderness. The contacted the brotherhood to let him die for his crimes. bonus: expose yourself first, then kill him in close combat. Missing sister: A sister has gone missing after a assigment. Track her down in a cave. She was supposed to kill the contract there, he was hiding. She failed because the contract happnd to be her, to believed dead, father. Kill them both, Sithis must be pleased. To good for you: Visit a Khajiit girl. She rejected an offer of a nobleman's son. Such insults can not go unpunished. bonus: Take her heart and bring it back to the son. Looking the other way: A Khajiit borderpatrol is beeing bribed to close an eye for Bosmerscum to cross the border to do all kind of illegal stuff. Kill the guard. From his corpse you learn there Bosmer in Elsewyr. Track them down at a small cave. They use it to smuggle and stash things. Kill all three of them. bonus: If we want to get really sick, take the eyes from the guard. So he can never look the wrong way again. Put the eyes in the Guardcaptains desk with a note, so he can show his men the warning. One does not disobey the Mane, or something. Mother!: A guy, perhaps Imperial, has a huge debt. He failed to payments one time to much. The brotherhood is contacted. First you kill his mother, then you wait for him to come home. Wait till he sees his mother, then slay him in the name of Sithis. Ok this where my twisted ideas for Elsewyr for now. edit: improved the layout of my post Mormacil

I don't really like the idea of a full fledged Sanctuary in Elsweyr. More of a shabby frontier camp.
However, I do like the quests so far... But killing without any weapons? That seems sort of harsh, unless there's a way you can smother opponents, or lead them into "accidents" |

Hmmm... does this remind anyone of Hashashin and Assamite clan?
You could look there for some inspiration.
