I did misc stuff, only pots and cups, I think I did one furniture piece. As for architecture, I did a couple of towers, Exterior and a door, which was already done by you guys. By done I mean only modeled.

I have tried everything but two pieces from my exterior set are buggy (the game crashes when the player walks on them). I don't understand since the collision process worked fine with the other buildings... Has anyone already met or solved that problem?

I've made it a personal policy not to try and answer problems like that without getting to see the nif file since it can be for a multitude of reasons. If I can't find the solution I suppose I'll just import them into 3D Studio Max, re-export them, and set up the collision

Thanks to Razorwing I finally solved my collision problem :applause: . Towers, bridges and buildings are ready (there is still no door/entrance). There is no texture yet, except the ones from TES3 and the 3 samples that Stilgar sent me.
So what do we do now? Can we start modding Dumac's exterior using TES3 textures as placeholders, or should we wait for Stilgar's work? Alternatively I could find some placeholders but Dwemer textures are very specific so it's pretty hard... |

Just for the record...
What was the collision problem? Just to have it on the board in case someone else runs into it.
Thanks, Steve |

Stilgar sent you 3 sample textures? Well you could use those as placeholders. I'm not sure about the legality of using TES3 textures as placeholders, but it shouldn't be too bad if it's just a placeholder. Ask razorwing prehaps?
Very very excited to finally be able to do the exterior. I'd say we do not need to wait for Stilgar, though it won't truely be complete until he conjures up his texturing magic for us. Textures are pretty easy to replace, and we might as well start now Leader of the Morag Tong Hail Mephala

SACarrow: I omitted the nice feature introduced in the latest nifskope: havoc->packing srips, it seems to make things more stable. Actually I was using an old version of nifskope (9.2) because it was the only one that didn't crash on my system. But now I found that nifskope 9.8 is perfectly stable as well!
Also my collision meshes were too high poly, so I fixed that too. Now everything seems OK Seniosh: If we don't release anything with tes3 textures, there is no problem using them, it's just for internal use. Using the ones Stilgar sent me is problematic because we need at least 10 different textures to have something nice. I can't place a roof and a ground texture everywhere... |

Then go ahead and use the TES3 ones as placeholders. This is good timing, since Insanity's due to be back soon.
I think you'll have to PM razorwing with the files so he can put them in, with the placeholders, and set it up so that they're easy to replace. Then he can get an ESM out with the resources and i or someone else can start on the exterior to dumac. At least that's how i think it'll work. Integrating a lot of files that need to be used quickly can be kind of confusing. One more question. You planning to make any more awesome exterior pieces? i think you said we still need an exterior door, and there are always plenty of ways to vary the pieces we've got, as well as a multitude of misc pipes and everything that combine to make a dwemer ruin. I tried to make the entrance, but I found it hard because I only had a small reference pic. Could you PM me the reference file, I'll try again.
To answear your question, I don't think I will make a lot of other dwemer buildings, it's really hard to do something nice with an existing model, specially when the model wears a kind of nostalgy for a lot of us. Since I can't alter the shape too much, the result is not fantastic compared to oblivion standards, so it's not very funny...but for more diversity I will break some of the pieces I have, and add some pipes and stuff, and of course the entrance. I have to fix a couple of texture paths, I'll upload the nifs tonight or tomorrow... |

Sure i'll send the reference file as soon as i can find it in the mess that is the morrowind unpacked BSAs.
What i was really asking was if you planned to make all of the buildings from TES3. There are a couple different pieces, some of which i don't think i gave you. Maybe i was a bit confusing, but nostalgia shouldn't be an issue when recreating the variations present in TES3 itself. Don't want to press you though. I'll send then entrance, and then i eagerly await your excellent models, present and future Leader of the Morag Tong Hail Mephala
