Netherlands win from Italy with 3-0, which is remarkable score. The dutch deserved to win, but they had luck with the first goal and italy deserved a goal.
The dutch surprised me, because I know that they sucked at the pre-elimanaries (with even 1-0 win against luxembourg :boo: ). |

Quote:Originally posted by blackbird I saw that goal in highlights and until the sportscaster pointed it out, I hadn't seen that the reason that offside wasn't called was the semiconscious Italian player behind the end line. Steve |

Let's throw in another guess
ESP 1 - RUS 2 GRE 1 - SWE 1 About this funny offside rule: I completely understand the reason for this rule, I see that a - let's say conscious - player would be able to intercept and intervene, but ... a guy who's lying down? Knocked out by his own goal keeper? Almost two meters behind the line? Completely occupied remembering how to breathe and what his name is? I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that this is a tad bit too meticuluous. Nevertheless, the victory was well deserved, congrats to the Dutch team. Greetings Quentin

Quote:Originally posted by MarcusAurelio Wow, as far away as my prediction was, as close was yours. I have to admit, I have never been a fan of Spain, but I've been positively "disappointed" by the team this evening. That was truly great sport and it wasn't as if the Russians were easy game, but against those players ... no chance in hell. And I didn't see the Swedish goals until after the game for I stopped watching after the Greek pass count went over thirty without gaining even a single inch. :boo: I have better things to do than watching a game of lawn chess, good that the Swedish team made it. I don't really have a favorite player in Belgium. Komapny is indeed a good one, but is too sensitive for injuries. I don't hear anymore from Emile Mpenza. The Belgian soccer team suck and I don't watch it anymore.
Although I didn't see the match spain -russia, it surprises me that russia was weak. Greece is almost always playing on their box and have become a certitude for defensive (and boring) soccer. |

Well , Russians are inexperienced and all , i think theyll be bottom of the group.I personally loved both the results , as i'm an estonian with swedish roots
to blackbird : well , im not sure about the national team , but i think kompany has a really bright future ahead of him , i'd love to see him at arsenal , he's an allround player really . today , i hope that the czechs and swiss will win
