Games, which one do you favor?
Ok I'm not sure if I should post it here, btu taking a look at the other sort of random topic I think it's ok. So let's get started, this is for a schoolproject. I have to design a game and then promote it's idea. Yeah it's for the classas gamedesign. Anyway I came up with 3 different games. I would like that you would choose your favorite and also think about how well it would sell. The games:
Pirate game: This game is a multiplayergame about pirates. You play battles online with 64-256 people. You got 2 sides, pirates and the army. The pirates are clear, the army is from one of the biggest nations back then, think of England, France, Netherlands, Portugese. Each side has a big flagship and depending on the map and number of players few extra ships. Your goal depends on teh gamemodes, currently I got: - normal/DM: Your goal is to capture or destroy the enemy flagship - survival: Your goal is to totally destroy the enemy fleet - siege: One of the armies defends a coastel town/fortress. The other side attacks - CTF: This is some sort of CTF. You got 3 islands, one 2 sides of the map a homebase for the teams, in the middle a small island filled with chests with gold. Your goal is to get as many chests with gold on your island. Either outrun your enemy or kill them. When a player chooses a side he can either become a commander, if that is availeble, or a class. The commander of the ship controls it and stands behind the steeringwheel. He can also use his cannons which work with a countdowntimer. If the player chooses a class, he pick the class he want, warrior(strongest), boarder(board enemy ship), demolition(bombs), gunner(muskets, longrange), doctor(one each ship, weak but heals). Each class has different weapons and can carry a different amount. A warrior can carry the most, guns, axes, cutlasses, but unlike a gunner he can't carry a musketrifle. Dragonhunting game: This game is pretty simple, well the concept. You're a noble knight that fights against evil. For some reason the dragons are leaving the north and move into the lands of men. So you're going to stop them. The reason is because an evil wizard wants to become a dragon of his own and needs ingredients for the ritual in a way the dragons don't like to stick around. While following the storyline you can travel around the world going from town to town to ask about rumours of dragons. Killing those extra dragons gives you better equipment and a bard. The bard will practise songs about your herioc acts while your riding from town to town. Your equipment is your armor, a shield(can be upgraded to reflecting stuff) a sword, a lance(when mounted) and a crossbow. With these you hunt down dragons and kill them. The dragons are going to be variant. Some can walk, or swim or fly. There attacks and defence can be: breathing fire, spitting acid, poisenious teeth, strong wind from his wings that blows you of your feet, gemskin(skin of gems), extra strong stumach(can't be penetrated), hypnotic eyes. That's pretty mucht the idea. Fantasy DM: This game is also pretty simple. It's about fighting Deathmatches on maps with fantasyweaponry, magic, bows, swords etc. When you play you make a profile which you chooses your skills/abilities/spells. Then you choose your equipment, for archer: a bow or a crossbow, etc. Besides the killing you can make tons of acrobatic moves, creating a nice chaos to battle. Maps will be beautiful gardens, monistaries, cities, castles etc. Ok tell me what you think =) A soon reply is appreciated, got first presentation in 2 days(I hate that teacher ) But after that I can still use the data though. Ok thanks anyway. Mormacil

Good luck! :goodjob:
In terms of sheer fun I'd vote for the pirate game. A great way to kill time while riding the bus to work. Speaking of that, would it be a PSP game or mobile phone game or internet java game or something else? If it was a pirate game and of the latter type you might take on ads for marine-oriented businesses like boat shows or boat equipment stores or seaside reastaurants and the like (just a crazy idea that popped into my head).

It's a multiplayer 3th person game. I was more thinking about the PC, 360 and PS3. That's a bigger market, but maybe a PSP version, but I doubt that would play well. You got like 8 buttons right? And to vote, use the poll.

I would have to say pirate game, while the others also sound interesting the Pirate Game sounds like the most fun. I really onjoy playing big multiplayer matches.

Well, from offered games I'd go with pirates. Perhaps not too innovative (what is these days?), but it would certainly be interesting. You should also mention easter egg; Ninja vs. Pirates duel.
Too bad we don't have psycho-dude-that-sees-and-hears-wicked-stuff kinda of game. Good luck, btw. :goodjob:

I like the pirate thing . But replace the army by her majesty's royal navy . Also , let each faction have a commandar and some ship leaders ( for example 5 ships for each side , there is 1 commander for each side and 5 capitains , each oft these commaning one ship for each side . )
EDIT : Also ,a MMOFPS should make a great game . |

well I got more ideas, but not everything will sell that good
Got the ideas for: - Morrowind like RPG with tons of different skills - SF MMORPG where you buy the skils - massive and epic SF shooter - RTS about the mob with a city as your map, a MMORPG about sieging a castle - fighting game about you beeing a swordmaster, just lots of awsome fightsTongue - RTS all about self designed units in a medieval world - FPS about a normal guy snapping and working down the list, the cop, wife, neightbour, boss etc, sort of GTA - SF race and shooter, very fast combat along a parcour, a medieval RTS - SF RTS but only with squads - RTS with high AI, realistically taking cover etc but ls total units on screen - FPS with acrobatics based on El Mariachi. Lots of moves combined with lots of guns, can't go wrong eh?
