Greetings from an aspiring texture artist

Hello, everyone! I'm brand new here, so don't be too rough. :-D

I'd like to make textures for this mod. I was going to go with Tamriel Rebuilt, but I think their community is a bit less active than this one. Now then. I'm not too sure this is legal, but I would be willing to convert textures from Morrowind into a high resolution set for Oblivion. Note that I'm not just going to take the textures and make them bigger. That would be illegal. What I plan on doing is making textures that look a lot like their Morrowind counterpart, including luminosity, shadow detail, and exact color, but they won't be identical. For example:

That's a base Morrowind texture, after I added some effects and text so nobody tries to use it for nefarious purposes.

Here's my high-rez version, heavily based off the old file:

Obviously you can't see that it's a Morrowind texture. You can see that it's very similar to the smaller one, which was my aim. I'm not sure anybody will be impressed by this or even need it, but I think it would be a great start - if it's legal. I'm pretty sure it is. The textures look a lot alike the textures from Morrowind, but they aren't. Another thing I can do well is compress textures so they don't take up as much video memory. Tell me what you guys think, request textures, etc.

I doubt we'll need somone to redo morrowind textures, but we definetely need texture artists.

I think you made a wise choice, for several reasons. I doubt you'll ever regret choosing to join us. We always need texture artists, and there's a few claims open in that area in the texture coordination thread in Visual Development in case you're interested. We're pretty well set when it comes to Morrowind textures though, because of all the retexture sets that were released. Particularly 'Morrowind Visual Pack', which provides hi-res versions of most textures used in TES3, and which I've made really good use of. I hope that doesn't put you off, because there's a lot of other texture work that needs doing around here. =)

Not in the slightest. I'll (try to) texture whatever needs texturing. But if you guys ever find yourself in need of dirt, sand, brick, stone, mud, whatever, feel free to ask me. I'll see what I can do. :-)
