Heat wave
You'll have to forgive me, my friends. I've not been able to be here much because of the heat wave hitting my area. My room is the only one that does not have A/C so I've had to turn off every computer and basically (I really mean) flee the room. I can't move the computer so I have to wait until this heat wave passes.

RE: Heat wave
How bad? Not 118 degrees like here? Luckily, I have A/C, so sorry to hear that, just one thing after the other it would seem...

Yes, in Canada, where it is sometimes -40 in the Winter, and 118 earlier today (or yesterday actually). Heck, it even snows in June sometimes, and we sometimes get snowless Christmas'. That will give you a clue about how crazy the weather is here.
And 48 Celsius is exactly what the weather channel said right before I had to leave home on my bicycle for reasons beyond my control. (Yes, I'm still a little frustrated about that) EDIT: Even the weather forecasters (who are seldom right) say that there is an X % chance of snow, rain, hail, thunderstorm, sunny, cloudy breaks, etc... sometimes... Just to be right no matter what. BTW: Tomorrow (or today) is supposed to be another abnormally hot day. Sigh... |

ouch in Urals, where climate is supposed to be worse, than in Canada, this summer maximum was 38 celsius
most troubles are in winter...as there are no mountains to the north, so nothing stops cold wind from the north... |

Well, 48 C with the humidex. Usually, it doesn't get that hot, or -40, but extreme temperatures seems to be happening a lot 'round here for some reason...
How cold does it get where you are? EDIT: You know, come to think of it, the weather channel might have been wrong or had technical problems... Because it really didn't seem THAT hot, but it was definately HOT. EDIT2: Hmm... tonight, the humidex is 37 C (current at almost 4 in the morning)... Could be right I guess... EDIT3: Today (yesterday) set a record for hottest day for 2nd of August... At 36 C without the humidex... That would mean the humidex would have to increase the temp by 12 degrees C... Hmm... |

last winter was unique, as there was +5 until mid of december
mountain-skiers were very angry ) usually it's -15...0 until december, -15..-5 in december, -23..-10 in january/february but sometimes there are extreme temperatures, like 2.5 years ago - it was -40...-35 for 1 week, and -30 for the next one (without humidex, it's pure temperature) shops got millions for selling calorifers and trams were sliding off the rails )) |

Wow, that is colder than it is here, that's for dang sure.
http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/city/p...xtforecast Hmm... tomorrow might not be so hot as I thought, high is 26 C, but looking at how they forcasted today, and the high was 36 C (without humidex), I think that they might be wrong, but I hope they're right about 26, a nice break perhaps... EDIT: Sorry, not 118 F, more like 115, sorry. It turns out it was 47 C with the humidex: http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/trends...ric_e.html |

it's so cold there as there's nothing to stop the wind from the north pole - north part of Ural is plain. that's why we can have -40..+38 maximums in one year
far to the east (in East Syberia, 2.000km from here) is Oymakon - the Cold Pole of Earth, the place where world record for the coldest temperature in the world was set and there are even ppl living there! so we are somewhat happy - it could be worse ) though it could be California...ah |
