Actually, in regards to the armor, Morrowind's dwemer armor was actual dwemer armor (worn by the dwemer under Mournhold, apparently). The reference to it being junk is thought to be from earlier times when people used something else as 'dwemer armor.' Also noted that Yagrum doesn't notice anything unusual about the Dwemer boots he's fixing for Divayth Fyr.

Cyrodiilic Dwemer armor is just made of dwemer materials by modern smiths, from everything I've heard.

I hear that too. Is there any referance in the game that suggests that. I haven't come across any myself. It might be a player made myth as far as I know.

And where does it state that the armor in morrowind is actually the centurion husks that the dunmer salvagers were selling to unsuspecting adventurers? In the Kemel-ze book It only states it is unknown how many adventures are wearing the salavged remains put together by the dunmer. And even so it is still highly sought after as a complete centurion makes an execelent bit of kit. That all te plates fit perfectly, offering surprising freedom of movement. Also It says nothing of the dwemer weapons that are found with as much frequency as the armor. All of which are presumed genuine.

I think its safe to assume that the armor is as genuine as the weapons.

Yeah. Kemel-Ze was what I meant. A lot of people took that to mean that Dwemer armor in general was all scrap, but under Mournhold where they were turned to ash, there's often a cuirass lying next to it.

As for in Oblivion, I don't know if there's an in-game reference (it'd probably be in dialog, and I just haven't talked to many people in Oblivion). It's generally assumed because of the condition of the armor, considering how old Morrowind's was, and the fact that there's cloth and such intact. It just doesn't appear to be authentic at all.

As for the second being just 'cut out of a lump of metal' - don't agree, as you may know medium to heavy swords were used as bashing weapons more than cutting against armor. They were used to cut peasant flesh and so peasants were terrified of men with swords.

But in any case there is a lot of shaping and a definite feel of purpose to the second - maybe even more purposeful than the original Dwemer weapons in game? hrug:
