I remember walking down the south-west coast (AI region?) and suddenly finding a tomb with Ring of Phynaster
"Why would I be bound by rules if I can see so far beyond them?"
"I think, therefore I am" - Descartes "I don't think, therefore I spam" "Do not seek to follow the footsteps of the wise, seek what they sought" "On top of the world" |

I remember finding a daedric dagger in the underworks of one the cantons of vivec, I thought it was a bit unbalancing but then again it was protected by some extermely powerful ghost which nearly killed me on my first try.
Level scaling removes the risk factor, I was no longer scared of walking into random dungeons which IMO made it less fun.
An echo of silence, a shadow of nothing.

Even more so than the risk, the level of difficulty in a dungeon really adds character to it, and makes you remember a place, where, for example, you found a daedric dagger when you were perhaps only within the first 10 levels.

I loved the caves in Morrowind that were occupied by the Sixth House creatures. First time I saw an Ash Ghoul and the red candles... and the strange chanting sounds, I was immediately intimidated and would have turned back, and legged it back to a town or to safety. Same with the larger Daedric ruins. |

Or playing as a level 4 knight gettin' the shat kicked out of him by a level 9 or 10 Nord Bandit hiding in a cave near Pelagiad... over and over again. I eventually got him, somehow...

Christ I was wanderin in Red Mountain territory at level 5.........
Well for the pilgramige, then I'd have fled back out. It'll be interesting for us to build upon these classic feelings we got when playing, I hope we can bring some of them back in the mod. |
