I had a problem installing the Civ4 plugin. I put all the files in the correct place but when I kept getting this:
Code: DLL < \3dsmax7\plugins\CivilizationIVMaxPlugin.dlu > failed to initialize. message whenever I loaded 3ds Max 7. Apparently there was a file missing and Max would load but wouldn't load the plugin. To make a long story short I was missing the d3dx9_26.dll file. I haven't heard anyone else complain with this problem so I don't think it's very common but if anyone is getting that error code then try putting that .dll in windows\system32 folder. I put a copy of it in the Max directory as well. P.S. Long time lurker, first time poster so I thought I would add on a note here and say that I really like your site and the mods that you guys have made. Well done!

Hi there Nighthawk, and welcome to Silgrad Tower! It's alwasy nice to see a lurker come out into the light
The "missing d3dx9_26.dll" problem is rather common for Oblivion users. The problem is adressed in the pinned FAQ thread on ESF > Oblivion > Hardware and Software Issues. As the dev says, "This can be corrected by Exploring the Oblivion DVD. On the disk there is a folder named DXREDIST. Open the folder and run the DXSETUP.exe. This will install the version of DirectX required to run Oblivion." Try that and see if the problem goes away. =)

The problem disappeared when I installed the .dll. The trick was finding out exactly which file it was; as you can see from the error code, I didn't have much to go on. Everything appears to be working fine now, as far as I can tell (which isn't far, I'm relatively new to 3ds Max.)
I do have one other question about this Civ4 exporter. I know about the plugin for 3ds Max 4 and 5 but I was wondering if the Civ4 plugin would let one create models for Morrowind as well. I would try it myself to find out but so far my proficiency in Max is limited to my being able to turn it on. It gets a bit foggy after that... :bananarock:
