Pack Scamp
Gotta have a pack mule! Just an adapted horse with a load of bags, follows you and holds about 750 weight.

That would be annoying to develop it think, there have been mods that do this already.

I know of a dodgy Morrowind mod which I think did it.
Let's start from the beginning though and see if it's possible.

Can you easily add bags to a horse?
There are models from a mod that does this, so yes. Can you make a horse unmountable? There is a possibility through a script that could stop the player from mounting the horse when they try. Can you make a horse a non-respawning container? Short answer, No. Long Answer, a companion share script can be used, when the player selects share the items are placed in a chest thats inside a cell, that no-one can touch. The chest is assigned to the horse so that the player can add/remove items at anytime.

So, can you re-size and re-skin an existing horse model easily?
If so does anyone even want a reliable packhorse? Or will it just be killed? Maybe it runs home or back to the last place it was stabled on attacks. There are other options for this too. I'm thinking outside the box like the chest with legs from DiscWorld. So maybe a mysterious hovering sack? Or a will'o'wisp looking thing which can be picked up, dropped and is a kind of transporter to a magical chest you buy for a house? for this the following questions would have to be answered...

Your definatley asking alot of questions here , and really I can only answer as a scripter, I don't model, I have had a little experience with textures though.
Quote:Originally posted by Rickious You can resize and re-texture the will 'o' wisp easily, but I think its a bit out of the TES realm, might look a bit strange you know. Quote:Originally posted by Rickious You can re-size and re-texture the existing horse model, its easy if you know how. The resize is the easiest. He might be killed but it depends on who wants one and who does not. Really its up to the Razorwing and the guys to decide it its wanted in the mod though.

Hmm, a ring with a good strength enchantment is just as good.
Yea, scrap this idea, its not necessary!

Murk Wood have a pack-alligator on their list of to-do's Dunno where thats going so sounds refreshingly different. I really dont like fast travel. It makes this immense RPG into a console game... I personally think none of the mods should use it, instead to have mine carts, riders, a horse and cart in every village, etc. We do have a few good ideas going around. The mine carts to travel from 1 Dwemer ruin/mine/city to another. Think Elsweyr are going have an airship, and also the ferry idea too. These are the only ways quick travel should be possible. Liniar modes of public transport!

Quote:Originally posted by InsanitySorrowYou don't need a companion share script for a pack mule. Just activate the container whenever the mule is activated. Companion share scripts with inventory transfer are for when you want the companion to be able to use and equip the items. A mule isn't going to put on the daedric helmet and equip that Ebony Claymore, so you don't need to bother with that. |
