It would be wonderfully easy to script it, given you are able to hire a shopkeeper for you. In that case, its a matter of a few hours to script in taxes, etc, etc.
A prior mod I was working with for Morrowind planned something like this, however it required the player to stay in a stall (this was an outside market, due to NPC's unability to traverse cells) and scripted pathing for NPC would bring them to the stall. The NPC's would have an attached script that would give them certain 'needs' (now you see why this is going to be easier?) and they would forcetalk to the player (or the player could initiate contact) and ask about a certain type of product. A script would scan the player's 'shop chest' and match the NPC's needs to a certain item. If the price was right, the NPC would 'purchase' the item (item removed from 'shop chest' and gold is inputted into the 'shop coffer'). Once I start taking a fuller look at Oblivion's scripting, I'll try to draw up some concept scripts. |
