I created these trees while tinkering around in speedtree for some personal projects of mine, and decided to release them to the public since there is to date a lack of new trees out there. It includes 4 all new types of trees, there are 7 variations of the Charred Oaks and the Valenwood Trees. There are 3 variants of the Lush Trees and the Palmettos. That makes for 20 new trees total. ------------------------- Adding the trees to your mod: There is an esp included that adds the trees ingame, I recommend however that you bring the trees ingame yourself so that you can set information like the shadow radius and other bits to your own taste (I didn't do any of that). The other thing to note about the trees is that they have low quality textures (just recolors of default Beth and Speedtree textures), they lack normal maps, and they have place holder billboards. (I would create quality textures myself, except I lack access to a decent texturing program, the best I have is gimp, and in their my texturing abilities are akin to that of a dislexic ADHD three year old). In the case of all the trees short of the Charred Oaks, these billboards are 'invisible'; therefore creation of your own billboards is necessary. There is an article by Razorwing found on the wiki about creation of billboards: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/ind...Tree_trees The one downside here is that to complete the first step of creating the billboard you need to go into speed tree and export the "tree image". I was going to compile these for you myself so that the first step was ready, but my copy of speedtree is "whack", and exports the images without the tree textures. Therefore you will have to make due without speedtree, and instead download an image taking program such as fraps, put your tree down in the CS to snap a shot, and go through the steps of creating a billboard with the image you took yourself. I wish I could supply you with better support in this case, but for the time being I am unable too. If anyone else with access to speedtree wants to set up billboards, just pm me and Id be happy to add them to the file and add your name to the credits. The one very nice thing about speedtrees in Oblivion, is that their leaf textures are controlled by the CS, so you don't need a copy of speedtree to change those. All you need to do is rename the speedtree, attach the new leaf textures in the CS, and then create a corresponding billboard. Fairly simple really. Even if you don't plan on changing any textures, I would still recommend renaming leaf textures, the .spt file, and your billboards to a new idea to avoid a conflict with another modder that may decide to alter textures but not rename the file. At the end of the day its the easiest way to avoid conflicts ------------------------- Future Updates: I would like to update this eventually, unfortunately as I mentioned above my copy of speedtree is "Whack" and behaving in a very gay fashion. I had other trees created, and some plans for more very cool ones such as those from Azura's realm of Moonshadow, but due to my speedtree problems they're in no state to be released. So though I would like to update, don't count on anyone anytime soon. I'm also open to suggestions for new trees assuming you provide pictures, but again updates will come slowly if ever. ------------------------- Credits: -Textures: Bethsoft/Speedtree, recolored by myself -Tree Models: siegfried ------------------------- Uploading/Redistribution: You are free to upload this to other sites or include it in any mod compilations you make. You must make clear however that the original author has no knowledge of your upload/compilation, and assume full responsiblity of uploading any updates and dealing with user's problems. I don't want to deal with complaints from users that have a bugged/outdated version. -------------------------- Usage in your mods: -You are free to include this in your own mods, as well as alter it in any way you see fit. All I ask is credit for the base content in your readme. Assuming you decided to be an ass and claim you created them yourself, I won't bother starting a fight over it, but you shouldn't expect any help from me in the future. -If you wish to use this in another game that uses .spt files such as Neverwinter Nights 2, your are free too. However, you may only include the .spt models, (which are of my own creation); credit me as you would an Obivion mod.
