I thought I'd share these renders of the new city walls I've been working on for Reich Parkeep. I had hoped to set them up in the mod before showing them so that the new parallax and normal maps would show up and I could light the scene with Oblivion's engine, but as luck would have it my copy of the CS is acting up and refuses to load. I'll solve it one way or the other over the coming days, but I didn't really want to wait to show them any longer.
Please note that the texture image shows a 3D Studio Max render, and so only shows flat, dulled textures. The normal, parallax and specular maps don't come through in that image, and neither does the glass effects. I'm planning to model a different stand-alone wall tower than the design I used for the gate so that the interiors that have already been modded are kept intact. They'll look different than the Cheydinhal towers on the outside, but their geometry will match up so the interiors remain believable.

Those are some nice walls I have to say.
Very cool! :goodjob: Btw, Re-installing the CS or deleting the .ini file for the CS (so a new one can be created) can usually solve some of the weird problems that occur with it.
When the game is over, the King and the Pawn go back into the same box.

Psychotic: Thanks (on both counts) but that didn't work for the kind of freeze I'm experiencing unfortunately, Tal suggested it too. It always freezes up when the status bar is saying 'Initializing FaceGen'.
I did discover something interesting while trying to solve it; there is a folder in the Data folder called facegen. It's from the Misc bsa archive, which I guess I'm not alone in not having unpacked. I've never noticed that folder until now. It would not seem unlikely to me that Oblivion incorporates part of the program in its install more openly than they did with SpeedTree, and that somehow the full version of FaceGen overwrote something Bethesda placed openly on the system and now it doesn't recognize the settings anymore. It's very strange indeed.

Very nice walls indeed!
I unpacked the bsa files and keep a clean copy in another directory. The same applies to my Oblivion files. In that way it's easy to go back to the original state (delete everything and copy all the files to the data directory etc.).

THAT IS SO [self-censored]ING GREAT!
I"m going to offer some criticism. Would it look better if the tower roofs were concave? Either way, the roofs seem to feel Morrowind a little. If the roofs had a dull coloured texture, like a nice dull green, or maybe redish-purpleish something. Me likes, gives a: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: |

Wow, very nice walls.
Some 3rd party programs can mess with the CS. My Plugin Editor program crapped out on me and I had the same problem. Then I got OBMM and everything is much better now.....
Lol what?
