Just a couple more and we should be set, with regards to Redoran houses. More are always welcome of course, but I think we can get good variety out of three or four Redoran house types (not counting the long one).

Here are four pictures of the new "Redoran Watchtower" model, building on a 3D design by Hoss.

The first shot shows "Redoran Bird of Prey ('Wingless')", an amputated Bird of Prey, intended to work as a more commonly occuring building than the vast big brother. The other two shows the long Bird of Prey house which has been retextured and given some misc improvements here and there:

This release is a "Modellers' Resource" - NOT "Modders' Resource". You need a 3D program for these models to be useful to you. 3D Studio Max 4.2 is ideal, but any program than can import .3ds can be used.

The collection of Redoran building models has grown quite a bit since last time thanks to generous contributions by Asylum and Hoss, and it now features six wholly original models, most of which have bumpmapped textures and working interiors. With 2? months to Oblivion's launch it feels great to be able to say that this collection can ensure a decent level of variety to future Redoran settlements, both in Silgrad Tower and elsewhere (if you guys and girls feel like using them). I've also gone over the previous buildings (Bird of Prey / Longhorn) and made some misc improvements so if anyone has downloaded any prior release kindly just throw them away, as this archive has better versions of them.

DESCRIPTION

This release contains six original Redoran building models in 3D format (.3ds and .max) and are "modeller's resources" - i.e., if you don't have a 3D program like for example 3D Studio Max, you can't use these models. They are bumpmapped and intended for use in mods for the upcoming computer role-playing game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion".

Models by Razorwing:
- 'Jordkallare' was Razorwing's first Redoran building and as such it's not good, but technically useable. It might get more work done on it in the future, or be scrapped. For one, it doesn't have an interior.
- 'Bird of Prey' is intended to be used for land-owners in rural settings, as the immensity of the building makes it unsuitable for towns. A rough estimate of it's size is fifty yards long, ten yards wide and ten yards tall. Some say it resembles a design from "Dune", although that was unintentional when I created it. Obvious from its name, my influence was the anatomy of a bird.
- 'Bird of Prey -House-' isn't counted among the six. It's a variation on the Bird of Prey design with amputated wings, making it more suitable for use in towns. It lacks a separate interior as my intention is to make the wings of the full model separate objects in the CS, thus letting the centerpiece work for both variations.
- 'Longhorn' is a compact but tall building, modelled with the express intention of it being useable in towns without taking up too much space. I'm especially happy with how the window on this model turned out, and the window will probably be made into a separate object and so useable on any exterior house.
- 'Traditional Mansion' was begun after the Watchtower (see below) and is influenced by the Redoran mansions in TES III. You'll need to picture it with windows, banners and other decorations on the bare slabs being set up in the future Construction Set.

Models by Hoss and Razorwing:
- 'Watchtower' builds on a traditional Redoran watchtower design. The basic design was created by Hoss, with exterior details and an interior version by Razorwing. The hatchdoor seen in one of the screenshots is currently used uniquely in this building, and as you can see from the screenshots the player would be able to travel up the column and exit to the watch level (out into the exterior world) to get some interesting views. The interior will surely get a second overview after Oblivion is a reality as I'm unsure if I'd be able to fit more levels in there, but I'd really like to for logical reasons. If you were to fall from the top of the column to the bottom, you wouldn't have many whole bones left in your body, so it doesn't really make sense to endanger Redoran guards like that. Yes I know the whole column will function as a loaddoor and no-one will *really* fall, but it's important for suspension of disbelief.

Models by Asylum:
- 'Skar' is havily influenced by the famous building in Ald'run and will probably be used as a Council-type of building in Silgrad Tower: Oblivion. It was created by Asylum for the Tamriel Rebuilt project, and he has graciously given the Silgrad Tower team permission to feature it in our future Oblivion mod. As his release was internal towards the TR project the download didn't contain a readme or general terms of usage, so if you're interested in using this particular model you should probably ask Asylum directly. He can be contacted via his profile.

TERMS OF USE
----------------------------------

Primarily these buildings are intended for the mod project "Silgrad Tower",
but they are free for use by the Elder Scrolls community any way that is
desired as long as you give credit and add a link to http://www.silgrad.com,
either in your readme or on your website. The buildings not allowed to be used
in non-Elder Scrolls-related situations, or any kind of commercial use whatsoever.

The Silgrad Tower project is in strong need for community-made architecture
in Dunmer style, as we're rebuilding our world for TES IV: Oblivion. Returning
to Morrowind will prove challenging as we're not allowed to reuse content
made by Bethesda, so all houses and other Dunmer influences must be remade
from scratch. Buildings are the key to recreating the feeling of Morrowind,
and the most important one to focus on initially so as to allow modders to
mod interiors. This release is part of that effort, and we would highly app-
reciate being aided in this endeavor, either by being given tips on pre-
existing models we could feature or even offers from others to mod Dunmer
constructs from scratch.

As of writing this (September 10th), our effort has yielded the following:
- 6 Redoran exteriors + interiors (this release, by Razorwing)
- A complete exterior Hlaalu tileset by Jonathan Dodds and Oom, with which
modders will be able to assemble hundreds of different Hlaalu exterior houses
- 18 exterior Velothi structures (courtesy of Veet)
- 4 Sylvan exterior + interior models by Soulshade that we haven't really
figured out what to use for yet, but they're too good to pass up

Being stumped for ideas on how to improve the basic shape of the house I instead decided to do some 'garden decorations' (if you will). I tried to go for a sturdy and warrior-like design that would still manage to convey the feeling that the residents of the mansion are rather wealthy.
