Well this Iron Mine Quest is dependent on what RW does with his NPC, so its still possible that it will be modified more. Either way its a good story and we will be adding it somewhere

A small sidenote, how exactly does one claim a quest (if at all) I can see the submissions board, and that certainly is a good idea, but then what happens from there?

I will up-date the submission Guidelines to include the claiming process, but the basics are that anyone can pick up a claim, I will be writing them such that it will be just a matter of copying it to the CS and testing it

But as with all processes if we find that this isn't working the way it was anticipated we can adjust and improvise

Well what i'm really asking, is where are the quest claims located? It would make sense that they would be located on the WIP board, but currently there are no quests there. (but it's probably just cause you only recently reorganized the entire Quest Dev board)

I'd be up for a string of quests involving mines, if that's what you're suggesting. Morrowind seems to be fairly rich in minerals, and there's nothing a house wants more than a good reliable mine.

If we can think of good stories for more mines, or a reason to have multiple quests (such as competition between houses, only more original and better developed) i'd be happy to do many mines.

Actually, i think it would also be a good idea to have plain mines, without quests going on. Unfortunately, the pieces to do that well are not in place. *grumbles about lack of moldcave set, as well as mining rails* but if the need pops up anywhere for a mine, let me know. Mines are my friends.

Yes they will be in the WIP board, right now I am just gathering all the quests in the submissions section so that I can go through them and find the one which need worked on first. It will still be a few days until I sort through it all. The board is my set up, I asked that those sub forum be added, the quest board wasn't like it is now until recently

Rivals is always good, sabotage and extortion is the way I see it

Have several different Nobles, competing to be top dog of a mining operation, double dealing the imperials, extorting funds from Nobale and paying another
Stealing
Sabotage of equipment
Murder of the miners and overseer
Kidnapping of family members to extort

all kinds of stuff

Its a rough world

Heh i don't even need to make up new quests, i can just look at reports from diamond mines in africa. Same thing's going on there, with extortion, greedy officials, people being held hostage, poor working conditions, sabatouge, mines being used to fund criminal activities (which could be a very large quest done for the legion, if executed properly) Of course to sabotouge equipment, we've first got to have something to sabotouge! Currently there are no mine carts. And nobody seems to be interested in modelling them... my request over on the visuals thread is dusty.

Thanks for clarification on WIP board too. This is becoming a much more organized place now. Congrats on your core membership and quest leadership!

Just another question, how many mines do you think there should be in ST? I'll do em all!

This is true, we can probably follow the news and incorporate into the quest but all those things are great suggestions and I think will make things more realistic and fun

Mines .... I think their were 5 or 6 in MW Silgrad, most of them were pretty nicely made but the only one that seemed to be operating was the RP Glassmine. I've added more since we also have Blacklight and all the southwestern section of the mainland in the MW version, but 6 seems to be a good number

You'd probably need to confer with Sandor on the availablity of the others

Hmm, i've started on this quest, but some of the details are a small bit sketchy, or rely on things not currently in existance. For example, one of the alternate endings is brokering a deal with the silgrad traders guild - currently not in existance. Also, i'm not quite sure, but it sounds like this quest is part of the main quest for reich parkeep.

REWARD: The player is told to see a Redoran blacksmith in town in a week or so, and pick up a free full suit of iron armor, which are the fruit of his good work. This is not the same iron armor that comes with Oblivion; it will need to have a much lesser polygon count than that. The low poly count will enable a future mass battle between the Houses, which is the intended climactic end of this quest path.)

Obviously, that sounds a lot like this will be part of a quest line. If so, how exactly is that going to happen, and what implications does that have for this claim. Also, if the plans for this as one of a string of quests for house redoran are gone, then what reward would be suitable? Iron armor doesn't seem like a real reward if it's not for something (such as a large battle)

This should probably be moved into WIP, as i'm working on it. The only thing i'm not sure about is how closely i should follow Razorwing's original outline. If i want to follow it closely, i need the clarification asked for in the previous thread. I also need to know if Areya is going to start existing any time soon, and if so, what i should do (if anything) to hook everything up

I'm set on Areya being the Redoran leader and living in the palace in Soluthis, but I'm not set on anything else so go ahead and change the quest draft to your liking. It's part of the story arc I wrote for House Redoran's war with the Nords, so if you change it a lot the story arc will break. I don't really mind though, my enthusiasm for that story arc has vaned and I feel I've held up development on House Redoran quests for too long. So much to model...

The character is already in the mod by the way, with the ID StRwNPCArchmasterVarkanAreya. (He isn't finalized in terms of face and clothes and equipment.) Please go ahead and use his CS entry for your quest.

Awesome news! i'll get started promptly. A note to Bob, this should be moved into WIP, even though there isn't MUCH to discuss, there are still small details, and inevitably more will come up as i mod it.

thanks for the info razorwing. Glad Areya's in the mod, makes life a lot easier.
