Arnahus Unpalir-Thief

This quest is from Silgrad Tower for ES3 it was never completed

When you enter the Abandoned Home in Steadhelm you will meet Arnahus, he will tell you that the DB is after him and that an agent is outside near the north gate. If you will talk to him(the agent) and convince him to leave, Arnahus will give you a reward

When you return after dispatching the DB agent you find a note from Arnahus, basically telling you "Ha Ha Im gone and Im not paying you don't try to find me"

Lets do this quest in Silgrad ES4 and this time find him!

Where do we want to have him go?
What can we do with him once found?

Hi!

So he's a thief, right? Maybe he ran off to some far distant cave where he's hiding, surrounded by his fellow thief mates. You have to fight your way trough this 'thief lair' (which has a lot of little treasures stolen by the thieves) to meet Arnahus at the end.
I think that then two options are possible, maybe even three:

1: he attacks you immediately on sight and, if you win, you can loot his corpse. Earning the reward that was yours after all.

2: it appears that the agent of the DB has followed you, and when he sees Arnahus he attacks him immediately. Arnahus loses the fight and dies. I don't know if there is any possibility that the DB agent also attacks you.

3: if your level is high enough he will surrender and you can deliver him to the town guards. (This can be done through scripting, as far as I know). He gives you a reward for bringing Arnahus to him.

Maybe not very great, but I haven't got much experience with quest development. Only made two quests.

Let's make it so he ran away to [INSERTCITYNAMEHERE] and he was still evading the Dark Brotherhood. There can be 2 options to this quest.

#1: If you are a DB member, you have the option to say "You will die by the hands of Sithis" and he will flip out and try to kill you. After you kill him, a Dark Brotherhood member will come in and find him dead. The DB Member says "I see you beat me to my contract. Unfair, that was my reward. Oh well, I am forbidden to do any harm to you, so I will let you go claim my reward so long as I get half the gold. Show his ring as proof of the deed" He will tell you who gave him the contract. You loot Arnahus and take his ring and 200g. You go to the contract-giver and tell him you completed it, and he will give you 500g. You go back to the DB member from earlier (or keep the gold and blow it off on shinie tings) and he thanks you for your honesty in returning and gives you an enchanted dagger he no longer needs.

#2: You meet up with him and he asks you if you are here to kill him. You tell him no. Then he says "Good, I've been evading the Dark Brotherhood for about 4 years now. I barely made it the last time had it not been for that foolish stranger. But yet again, an agent has tracked me down. I fear he will no longer settle for some, dishonest persuasion this time, and will only resort to violence. I want you to kill him, and bring me his blade as proof. I will pay you a hefty sum for his death." So, you run off outside the city and find a small fire and the DB member sitting there. You can either try to kill him on the spot, in which case a guard may get the wrong idea and try to arrest you, or you can talk. When you talk to him, he says "This better be important s'wit, I need to take care of something very important that doesn't concern you." You then say "Arnahus sent me to talk to you" to which he replies "That n'wah sent another to drive me off, eh? Well, I'm not leaving this time! He's mine, even if I need to kill you too!" So you fight him, kill him (or die if you suck) and loot his dagger, which will be called "assasin's dagger" You return to where you where you met Arnahus only to find a note. It reads: "If you came back and find this note, I apologize. I really didn't care if you lived or died, as I only needed you to delay him for my retreat. There is also no reward I left you, as it would be unwise to leave a large sum of gold there for someone who would have probably died. Don't try to find me, as I don't want the brotherhood to find where I am now" So, then you ask the locals if they saw Arnahus run off, and they said he ran in the direction of [INSERTOTHERCITYNAMEHERE]. So you go there, and ask those locals if they saw him, and a few will say "Yes, I've seen someone like that, I think they're in the local inn." So you go there and find him and talk. He says "Damn! Why did you come looking for me? You could have led the Brotherhood right here!" At this point, an agent comes walking in and tries to kill you two, and you kill him (or die again if you want). Then he says "You saved me again. I really suppose you deserve the reward this time. I apologize for using you like that. Here, 750 gold for your troubles. I'm really, really sorry" After that, about a week later, people can gossip and a paper will go around, saying: "Arnahus, a thief who recently came to stay at the local in, was assasinated 6 nights after a failed assasination on his life. Sources point to the Dark Brotherhood as the killers, as it was a clean assasination and almost bloodless with evidence pointing to a skilled assasination, and a note found at the crime scene which reads, "Sithis is watching"

Woah, that's pretty long.....but soooo worth it.

IATE your idea seems to more fit the way I had seen this

As a member of the DB you can elect to kill him and claim the reward for yourself and then have to deal with the other DB member for taking his mark. this method would be clean and simple or we can add a little more to it.

The second idea is great - with a slight twist, I like the Idea Sanpicture has for Arnahus to be hiding with his fellow thieves, so initially we find out that Arnahus has fled in the direction of (???) town but the locals their say they heard rumors of a gang hangout just outside the town. When you arrive he is jawdropped that you actually found him, but as you enter a couple of DB members have also been following and attack the group, in the process Arnahus escapes but you meet up with him just outside the lair.. you can kill him or hear him out

and finish it off as your idea says..

I see it is in the wip forum now, does that mean that someone claimed it or it is open to claim?

Being in the WIP forum just means we are discussing the details of it.
It is open for claim and can be picked up at any point

The person picking up the claim will be responsible for adding it to the mod and ensuring it works properly

(I will need to discuss the details with RW, Sandor and TID on exactly how we will be adding the Quests in.)(so thats still TBD)
