That looks really nice actually... I assume you've tiled the texture on the outside? It would be nice if there was a little more variation in the surface of the shell.
Love the spiralling end though.

Yeah, but I kept looking at shells and they're kind of like that!
It's very tiled- you can see the basic unit of course: the texture would have to be enormous otherwise and I don't have the skill to paint it. I plan to use some vertex shading and jiggle the UV about a bit more if I can - that may break it up a bit.

Yeah, it does look really nice! Definitely not a pile of poo! I like the spiraling part as well.
How many triangles is this seashell? The only part I'd make more rounded is where the white of the shell meets the reddish texture, where the edge of the shell flips out by itself (the "lip"??). In the second pic, I can see the angularness of the lip part. The rest of the shell looks rounded enough to me, tbh. As for the tiling texture - personally, to me, it looks just fine. But you can try to implement Deeza's suggestion and see what you can turn out. If nothing else, the texture as you have it now should suffice. Koniption
Yeah, don't let those little turds get you down. Dingleberries stick for a while, but eventually they fall off.

1008 triangles is just fine.
Ok, I'll look over the nif when you're ready. You can PM me the download when you're ready. Is it ok if I recollision it for you? Is there anything in particular you wanted me to do to the nif once I have it, regardless? Koniption

I've collisioned it myself with a convexpoly, which I don't think works. I'll re-do it with a mopp: I'd like your opinion on how well I've done!
But you'll be very welcome to re-collision it if needed (or even if you do that as a matter of course just to know it's right!), and to make any improvements you think are appropriate as long as you let me know what they are so I can try to do better in future If you let me know the right paths for the textures then I can set that myself. I really just want you to do the kind of checks I rather suspect you do anyway.

texture could be a bit higher res imo, its looking kinda blurry.

Quote:Originally posted by Lady Nerevar Yeah, that's really the only proper gripe I have about this so this should prove to be redo-able. UV mapping is a bitch! It screws with my head but if we can get hold of a good, strong texture that is less lurid, more pale and has a higher resolution then we can theoretically re-use it for any other rock equivalents. I just saw some interesting stuff by Googling 'seashell texture'. Take a look and see what fits... =) Nice work, btw! :goodjob:

So are you going to make a few more shells that can be lived inside?
