TESIV:VF maps!
Here's a WIP I have - a map of the whole province in all of its glory. the black areas are major cities (only half of them are there so far).
so, should I keep at it, or is there alreayd a better map out there...? Please make hyperlinked thumbnails like my edit, rather
than (img) in huge pictures in your post. It looks much better and the page loads a lot faster (and without hickups in the layout)... thankyou! // Razorwing

looking good so far but I'd move Sadrith Mora bit closer in.... Solstheim and Sheogorad up more north... especially solstheim... just a bit... and I noticed tha absense of a few rivers, but hey, its only a first attempt...
by the way, read about the forums a lot, especially on landmass.... you will realize our ambitiousness was cut down a bit, we are no longer doing mainlan cities, except for a small number of coastal ports, more mainquest type of reasons and establishing the atmosphere |

I also think that we ought to keep our mainland cities as inter-connected as we can, so that if somebody else decides to do another part of the mainland, we haven't just plopped our stuff down in the middle of their territory, sort of like Bethseda did with Mournhold. Work off of the other ST mods, of the very northern tip near Firewatch, that's my idea. Ideally, I'd like to see our stuff along the coast that parallels the Velothi Mountains mod down to the mouth of the large river.

mainland, except for about 3 coastal towns is all the propety of Silgrad... at least they have authority over Redoran lands.. Velothi Mts., Silgrad, Blacklight,etc.
though Hlaalu, Dres, Indoril, Necrom penninsula, and Telvanni is free... but this is the Vvardenfell team... not a Morrowind team if you know what I mean |

Exactly. I'm just saying that since you want to make those 3 or so towns, our clientelle would be best served if we made certain that we picked places that fit with the existing mainland that our companions are building. In other words, would you as a player prefer another Mournhold where you can only teleport in and out and never see the surrounding country (or even if you can, where you run into a glass wall that goes all the way around) or would you rather have a place that you can get to by walking southeast from Silgrad along the coast? I'd personally much prefer the latter. Of course, if we dropped all mainland towns and just did Vvardenfell, I'd be perfectly fine with that too, and then we wouldn't have to worry about making it cohesive.

With oblivion's system, major towns are seperate "pocket" exteriors, like mournhould in a sense. We could easily build just these cities, walled off to the rest of the mainland, if you have to visit for quests. THe vvardenfell I used was the one from the old concept map, not the game's version, so I still have to make some adjustments (especially ascadian isles and zafirbel bay).

and more than likely the final shape of the island will differ from both the concept map and morrowinds map

yeah.... but sure, we COULD make Mournhold or Tear.... but SHOULD we? firstly we are the TES4 Vvardenfell team, secondly since Vvardenfell is our focus and already a huge amount of work... why make mainland areas?

I wouldn't say Silgrad Tower has more authority over the rest of the province than the Vvardenfell team does. =)
But whether an expanded scope is because one mod grows or whether it's because another Morrowind team is added, I do think we should really discuss it inbetween the teams going beyond the current [blockquote]'Blacklight down to Silgrad' and 'Vvardenfell + Firewatch / Darvon's Watch / Karthor Dale[/blockquote] Rebuilding all of Morrowind is a neat concept... in theory. But imho it would hurt both us and you because it would draw away modders from the areas that are our main focus - areas that already will be an immense task to realize. Besides, Vvardenfell for Oblivion is a really solid concept that strikes a chord with a lot of people, modders and players alike, and I bet both types of people would prefer a focused and enjoyable mod. Vvardenfell and accompanying three mainland towns definitely has the making for becoming precisely that in my humble opinion.
