Some useful objects for retexturing...
Well, I attached them, and they look almost perfect for redware tableware...
For those of you who want to know where to find these, it is the prefix RFD in Static. |

I've re-done the redware set from scratch which you can view in the 'I can do art me!' thread in the vis dev section. I don't know if you've seen it so I'm posting this... Natch. If you have and don't like what I've done, please feel free to say so. Last thing I want is for people to dislike what I've done as it's going to be a prominant part of the mod... Clutter-wise anyhoo.
And I haven't had any comments from you regarding it recently Lady N. I value your opinion. Especially as you're such a hard critic , coupled with the fact that the first chunk has just been submitted. |

A new mesh with proper mapping and new textures is usually always cooler than an old mesh with proper mapping and new textures. But an old mesh with proper mapping and new textures is almost always cooler than the default stuff that comes with the game. Folks who define themselves as texture artists usually only have one way to work independently; by retexturing stuff from the game. As such, they in general do a great service to players in giving visual variety to their playing experience.
But the two areas - mesh creation and texturing - aren't separate. What would the Redoran huts look like without Zarf's textures? Most likely a lot worse. At the same time what would we have done with those textures if Caligula and I hadn't modelled Redoran meshes? So, both texture artists and mesh creators are needed to get a finished model, and it's pretty rare that one person is both great at creating meshes as well as creating textures. Having said that I don't know if it's such a good idea to retexture Oblivion stuff to look like Morrowind stuff since we already have so many talented mesh creators here. There's a lot of work to be done in the texturing department already, especially for an expert on normal maps. Might not be the most fun of jobs, but one could always have a go at improving the textures we already use too. One thing is for certain though; we already have a nice redware collection, courtesy of Treebiter. =)
