Sotho Tren Faction Armours
The seventh Faction poll to decide the armour and equipment for the different Factions concerns the Sotho Tren.
The Sotho Tren are a criminal organisation that is more wide-reaching and more diverse than the Thieves Guild as crime is more widespread throughout BM than in Cyrodiil. This means that some will be dressed as normal civilians whilst others might be better armed. The first is Hlaalu (pic #1) and if this is lore-breaking then you'll need to let me know but I like it nonetheless. The second is MW Ebony (pic #2) followed by MW Orcish (pic #3) and Chitin (pic #4 - the one in the background, not the foreground). Chitin is probably exclusively Dunmer as well but I thought I'd suggest this just in case. The last one (pic #5) is complicated because I'd originally opted for Chainmail (the second on the right) as a potential choice but also thought that Adamantium (the one on the left) was more 'rogue-like'. If choosing Adamantium then the other one (Chainmail) could be used as an alternative to Adamantium for the Fighter's Guild. If voting for this one, please take care to make your thoughts clear. Oh, and Wozee's armoured masks (pic #6) might also come in useful here too although they're not full armour sets. Alternatively, there's the 'none of the above' option if you think that the Sotho Tren should be more stealthy and thief-like and therefore wear loose-fitting stuff with hoods. Please remember that I have to clear these selections with the makers of the mod before introducing them. Finally, you can check the development of these ideas from this thread that contains a number of the other options with links to the mods: Armour and Weapon Assignations to Factions and this thread which contains the previous 'final decisions': List of Factions . After consideration, I'm going for a switch to Adamantium which leaves us with MW Iron and MW Chainmail for the Fighter's Guild. Some of the Sotho Tren can wear Wozee's masks.

Am I right in assuming that only the people who openly show their membership in the Sotho Tren will be wearing the armour? (eg Sotho Tren guards)
Most members will be "hidden" in soceity, right? I quite like the chainmail, for reasons unknown to even myself... I like the battered, weathered, easily recognisable look. (although it'd be better with a different helmet)
Trespassers will be shot.
Survivors will be shot again. |

I reckon chainmail as well. The stealthy, undercover agents will presumably wear normal clothes anyway - the armour will be for the thugs and guards. I think we should use the masks in place of the helmet though.

All those masks seem to be worn by only humans in those pics. Unless the armor maker has provided an Argonian/Khajit equivalent for their longer, protruding faces, then you'll have to have those masks remodeled to fit those races - one mask for Argonians and one for Khajits.
Last I heard, only the vanilla helmets (like enclosed helmets) and such are able to be used across all races because of the way Beth did the tri and egm files...I don't know if the modding community has been able to replicate what they did, yet, so that only one helmet is needed for all races (with the game engine automatically stretching it out to accomodate which race is using it). Yeah, don't let those little turds get you down. Dingleberries stick for a while, but eventually they fall off.

Okay, so at the moment, we're going with Chainmail for the foot soldiers and guards of the Sotho Tren whilst the more devious rogues can be dressed in Adamantium.
In answer to JK's question yes, most of the members will be hidden in society. Hopefully, we can have others wearing these armours now and then which will help to make it less noticeable who is involved in which Faction. But if there is a cave-full of Sotho Tren then these are the sorts of armours that will be favoured. That was a point worth making though, JK. Thanks! And in answer to KP's wise observation then yes, it might be worth checking out the masks to see if they do fit....although I get the impression that you think it extremely unlikely that they will fit all races. In which case, we can restrict the use of the masks for only those races for whom it fits. As the Adamantium provides a degree of anonymity by means of the hood then this gives us an option for the Khajiit and Argonians in this Faction.

Quote:Originally posted by Ibsen's Ghost One could always take the human face-shaped mask and remodel it to fit an Argonian, etc. I think this way, though, that you'll end up with more than one mask type. But you could always name the masks differently depending on the race they fit, which logically, would make sense in real life. I mean, not everyone wears a size 5 shoe. Koniption
