Texture Problem
Hi,
For some reason, after saving a texture in PS, it comes out looking like this: The texture in this example, should look like this after saving (saved this one as a BMP): But it doesn't. I know it must have something to do with the DDS settings I'm using. I've had this problem before - sometimes textures save like that, sometimes they don't. These are the texture settings I used for this texture: Image Type - Colour Map DXT1 (RGB, No Alpha) 2D Texture Generate Mip Maps I also have Alpha Channels checked before the DDS settings box pops up when saving. Should that be checked? (Tried unchecking it but nothing changed.) The texture is 512 x 512. Cheers, Dave |

did you save a texture using the normal map feature (when saving, not the filter) before this one? if so, try re-loading PS (when the normal map generator is unchecked) and saving again. if not, i have no idea.

i'd just stick to using the normal map filter. not only does it prevent this bug (which gets really annoying >() but it also allows you a whole lot more control over the normal maps and allows for all kinds of cool effects.

Hmm... well it's happening again. Even when I close PS an re-save the texture it's saving it as a normal map.
I don't get it. What am I doing wrong? ?( |

click "normal map settings" and make sure that the "convert tangent space to normal map" box isn't checked. if its not that, i have no idea :/

Weird. It's not checked, I always make sure to uncheck it...
With convert tangent space to normal map unchecked, the textures seem to end up like the image in the first post - all funny coloured and messed up. EDIT - Nevermind, the problem is solved. Lady N - you were right, I was just getting it wrong. I asked over at TESForums and I got a similar reply to yours. I get it now though.
