I think thats an interesting way of letting the player explore the province. Not really a "get the quest...go fetch the stuff...finish quest" kinda set up, but rather one that will allow the player to be doing other things and say "hey..that plant looks familliar (checks botany notes) yep thats one that (NPC name here) was looking for!"
I could also see small framed sketches of different flora in peoples houses as simple decoration, because these sketches remind me of small pictures my mother has around their house. They're just small 5 x 8 frames with botanical sketches lightly colored in and some script writing on the margins describing the plant.

Hmmm, all quests are good quests...
Competition for the Botany Books? Can it be? Have you read the other editions in Silgrad Lit Dev yet - see what the other guys have come up with and see what you think? Hey Haywood, you found us - Tomorrow

 :O But Dark As, you're the King of the Kittens - you know everything  :explained:
Ja'K I believe that your 'On the Study of Fungi' might be a real winner, provided it is a treatease on techniques and anecdotal reference... K? Once you have taken a look at the ST Lit Dev I am sure you will understand that the Botany Books are intended to cover just about everything in the Empire = Elsweyr, though they are an ST inaugurated project and the one area that most noticeably has not yet been touched is Cyrodiil... I guess great minds think alike! Thing is that a Tamriel-wide book would be too much to achieve as the early stages mods have no idea of half ( any of) their plants, so I believe that it is better on that note to develope individual volumes for each Province to log all that is developing. And so I hope you understand that this system is intended not only to create a book in each Province, but also to encourage thought on plants and the environments that we are creating, with a powerful resource to back this up = so I love your Study of Fungi - Hey does that mean I might be studied? I can be a fun guy too! Well, rather an ancient one - I usually add BC to my dob wherre the machines allow. You may note that Imperial Dragon started an ST Lore Thread with a wonderfully well presented list, but you will also note that I added from the ST Original BB Thread more plants than he had actually discovered! And hopefully he will continue with his Lore thread, fleshing these extra entries out to complete his 'collection as it will make an excellent go to resource for basic info on which to base full BB entries. To date I have been counting on individuals taking note and spontaneously contributing, but now I wonder if we might start a claims system? Further to your quest idea, been hoping for tie ups like these, noting like a great qiest to get people involved. How would you like to create that using the plethora of Botany Books Author Resources? We have some excellent contributors, most notably our very own the Perfessor, aka KuKulzA, the distinguished Doctors of the Faculty and natch our Research Assistant Krisi, whose resources you might draw on and you most importantly you might earn University of Silgrad Tower Academic Accolades? More later!

Woot! Thesis is done and i'm back in action!
Here are some more botanical piccys for you to enjoy. 1) Consolea cactus = this cactus is very common in the Ne-Quin-Al desert of northern Elsweyr. The juice from the fleshy leaves can be mixed with pigments to make paint, and when mixed with the juice of the Pincushion cactus produces a strong glue. The short spines of this cactus are useful for making many kinds of potions and poisons. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb249...actus1.jpg 2) Blood Rose = This small colourful plant grows in vast numbers where battles took place in the long depths pf history. These places are saturated with magical energy, allowing the plant to survive without water. The petals are prized by Khajiit for their restore magicka effect, and as such command high prices at Khajiiti bazaars http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb249...odrose.jpg 3) Pincushion cactus = another common cactus of the Ne-Quin-Al desert. the sharp spines are used to fortify fatigue and health, but they make deadly poisons, like drain strength and willpower. Mixing the juice of this cactus with the juice of the Consolea cactus creates a strong glue. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb249...actus2.jpg What do you think? Edit: fixed links

hope you got the pm with attachment intact - think I may have sent it twice hrug: 'pogolies...
It occurred that this might also be useful in Valenwood as the basis for a 'Tree Village'? What do you think? If there is to be a borderland thread then there might be Giant Cacti Villages on the eastern edge and Tree Villages on the Western side, with Khajiit Commmunities mixed in. Thinking that Cacti and such will be in semi arid areas on the edge of the desert, and that sort of terrain might stretch into Valenwood? Still, whatever, this just looked so unique in my experience that I decided people should see for themselves. Note the man who grew it in the pic = scale...
