Traders Guild
Im going to make some Quest ideas
First quest will be the one from Morrowind Now your at Reich Parkeep And the GL tells you someone is holding out on their taxes, you can either pay them yourself or go to the person steal/persuade them to pay their taxes like a normal person. Reward is 200g from the 500g tax. He tells you to come back to him in 2 days. Great Deal. He tells you now he wants you to deliver this important letter to the local Redoran Lord. Reward 50g Delivery will be the next 6 pieces of raw ebony to the Trade Prince in Silgrad. Bring back a letter to the Gm in Reich Parkeep. Reward 5 glass throwing knives. Last quest in Reich Parkeep, He wants you to find a local smuggler gangs hideout and capture 5 stolen gold nuggets. Either persuade gang leader or kill him, killing him will lead to a better reward. Silgrad tower, The Trade Prince wants to open up shop on Vvardenfall but not wanting anyone to know of it he tells you to look at 3 places around Vvardenfell One Bittercoast, Azura Coast, Shegorath Region. Doesnt matter which location it will be just to pick one. The building i think should resemble arriles trade house tavern looking except get rid of the entrance to the storage on the outside and add the door to the inside. The bedroom will become stairs to the office which will have 2 imperial guards and the local quest giver. The storage will have some illegal items like some dagoth daggers moonsugar skooma and a daedric tanto. A ship along silgrad region can take you to the Outpost. The Trade Prince now wants to be like a Prince he says he needs a new place to stay. You can pick 3 places for him around Vvardenfall A plantation in grazeland regions. Small Keep on a Azura coast island or a West Gash Tower. THe construction will begin in 3 days other quests will involve getting weapons and armour for the guards local hook ups and securing the area from bandits. Quests will also be given from the outpost such as samples of moonsugar, stealing glass from a local glass mine. Finding a mine for the Trade guild to take over. Killing local threats of imperial inspectors finding their secret base. Soon the outpost becomes a little town. And now they are at war with cammon tong and they are pissed and send mercanaries to destroy the town and you and the local guards have to help defend it or if you are with the cammong tong you have to kill everyone and steal everything and leave no trace of the crime you commited. Another trade guilds could be doing a crime like selling a good load of moonsugar and framing a different guild by putting a fake letter in someones desk with some skooma and moonsugar and you can see them stuck in a jail cell. Other quests can involve raids killings jail breaks selling drugs getting contacts. This is it for now.
Some say im here, Others say im there, but really... I am every where
Beware I am Shadow I am the darkness in the corner waiting for you to take your mind off things for a moment then I strike without hesitation and leave no trail |

eh... not too sure about the Vvardenfell stuff...
maybe... but clear it with the team first... since these are not final and are just ideas... I am not concerned but just as a warning  good ideas though, I think the trade prince would do better with a place in Gnisis, Vivec, or something... what I can't tell is if Silgrad is more Hlaalu-ish or more Redoran-ish? |

Not bad at all. The descriptions could be fleshed out a bit more though, and the characters given names. The 'Redoran Lord' in Reich Parkeep (for Oblivion) is called Archmaster Varkan Areya I think.
Since there won't be throwing weapons in TES IV: Oblivion, maybe you could substitute the glass knives for something else? If you really want them though you could try and find a modeller willing to make them. They'd be purely decorative of course but I'm sure they'd look cool, and custom stuff is great fun for players. Your choice. Crossovers with Vvardenfell like you describe will in all probability not work. It's hard to explain but the root of the problem is that (at least with Morrowind) plugins must be read into the game one after another. If there's information in plugin #1 then plugin #2 can access it, because it's already in the game's memory, but plugin #1 can't access the information in plugin #2 because that information doesn't exist as far as it's concerned. Some things can be solved by a master mod that's loaded before both Silgrad and Vvardenfell but things like setting up NPCs and houses all over the place wouldn't be practical. KuKulzA: Silgrad (city) is 100% Hlaalu as far as architecture goes, but it's run like an independant city-state loosely under the control of the Empire.

Silgrad Tower was once a Redoran town, destroyed and rebuilt by Imperials/Hlaalu, settled by both Hlaalu and Redoran.... so they all have ties on it making it a populous, diverse, and tense city... |

KuKulzA: Yup, though not so many Redorans stayed there I think. Most of them probably moved north and south, to territory still controlled by House Redoran. But that's where the "booster towns" tie in, like Reich Parkeep and Ebbedin, and quests for House Redoran in our region is much more likely to stem from Redoran-controlled towns like those.
But House Redoran definetely have a stake in the city and would like nothing more than to reclaim it, which I imagine the Redoran Councillor is working hard at furthering. It has a great strategic location as it sits on the main road from Morrowind to Cyrodiil, and a lot of goods - i.e. taxes - pour into the city because of that, and every factor of power wants a piece of the action and increase their group's influence over the city.

perhaps the Traders Guild can be a network of Traders and tradesmen that are Redoran and want to band to gether to boycott Hlaalu goods and mercantilism by making their own Traders Guild ...Julreth Tong... the buying guild...

Since Oblivion allows players to invest in shops - the next, logical step MUST be a Traders guild!
What would this Guild do? Well, it should have some very, very rare artifacts that can be bought ONLY if you are a guild member. And even then the cost would be ruinous at lower levels - say a 100% chamoleon suit would cost you 200,000 gold as a novice but only 20,000 for the Chairman of the Traders guild. This is logical. Over the years buying and selling the Traders guild must have aquired quite a few rare and powerful objects. It should have escort trade convoy quests. And since money is the root of all evil, expect plenty of treachery and double-dealing in TG quests! It should have 'find information' quests. After all, Merchants operate on information as well as capital, don't they? And there should be a rival to the Traders Guild - say, something like a Worker's Union! We could call it the 'Artisan's Guild' or something such. It would represent the interests of all the workers and artisans who work for the Merchants...and some interesting quest rivalries could be created from this tension! If you are a TG member the dispostion of an AG member will drop drastically on meeting you, and vice versa.

Quote:Originally posted by KuKulzA Would that make the Julreth Tong a very desperate and low level affair if Redoran are in such dire straights, or in their Desperation could Redoran actually be putting substantial resources into this in order to 'honourably' compete with Hlaalu and Dres? So the question is: what is the rest of the 'mix'?
Because loyalty is not to be spoken of and honour is to be endured. Whilst courage is to be survived. These virtues belong to silence.

It would make for a challenging guild to climb the ranks of if its favored stats were Personality and Luck (Two things merchants rely on). I think that would be a very diffrent angle from many of the other guilds, where there is more combat involved.
