[WIP]MW Robe recreation project
Any self respecting Telvanni wouldn't be caught necromancing without a cool looking robe. .
I think some of the robes in MW are iconic imagery. They truely capture that exotic and strange flavour, color and visual design of the game. They must return For starters, I choose extravagant robe C. The one with a big freaky spider attached to the front. it's coming on well. I plan to do the exquisite robe, yes pink and yellow. And the purple extravagant robe(1 I think). OK. So my texturing skillz have lvled up a lot in the past year. These kind of models- most of the work is all in the textures. specifically the normal map. It really is worth the hours. WIP pics WIP- max scanline render(no lighting) Close up of spider in max And to see old and busted and new hotness- comparision in nifskope The actual robe diffuse map is orginal MW, (working on my version now.) I planed to create MW garments also, but if you doing this, I'll doing other models.
I think you may create robes with inspiration of MW Artwork that look very good :goodjob:. |

Well I only plan to complete 3 robes. despite my misleading thread title . There are more robes... that I'd like to do as well. but I won't because they take a really long time. If you want to do any MW robes there is plenty to go around.

Nice work
Any chance you could do less extravagant Morrowind clothes after the robe? New clothes suitable for commoners would be superb for variety, and all the more so if they reminded of Morrowind clothes.

My pet peeve: huge images in img code. I reserve the right to make any such image into a clickeable thumbnail whenever I see it. Angel mired in filth |

It's looking good.
Think you should do a cloth simulation on the robe, if not for the model then at least for the normal map. edit: oh by the way, is there any significant differences between making clothing and architecture? I always wanted to make my own armor. |

gez- personally I think it has more in common with a spider than a fly. even though it has wings it still looks like an arachnid like creature imo. though it is fantasy creature from a game and is in fact neither. How about it being a spider fly?
Tobi- I'm not doing a cloth simulation, well I didn't plan to, I may quickly look into it and see if it results in something nice... I've used reactor cloth and cloth exactly once in my life, I'll poke around and see if there is a solution in my max tool kit I will be sculpting a few million polys into the main portion of the normal map. then adding in details and cleaning it up in 2d. I always do that with my normals on organics. there is no way to recreate those kinda maps in 2d, though you can create great normals in 2d.. though it'll never understand or take into consideration the entire surface coordinates of the mesh its created for. the difference between architecture and a rigged meshes are very few. the main things are, despite switching to organic modelling techniques, model with animantion in mind. it has to be rigged. and the normal maps are quite a lengthy process. It usually involves much more testing and tweaking of materials, textures, rig to get a high quality finish on it and working in game. a whole tileset is a lot of work, more than a robe. both come with their own headaches. I recommend doing some form of rigged meshes for every modeller. Like something easy, armor. lavish a lot of time on it and make something that it'll be really hard for someone else to out do. theres a lot of good modellers out there now... I always try to keep up with their level and push the quality up on my work.
