I think thats has already been posted in this thread before...
and if we can't have our form of Frozen slaughterfish...we not have a
sword fish or something? Perhaps it could be an easter egg? I'm not
sure how hard that would be to model or texture etc..
(also, sorry if some of my ideas are stupid, I'm reading up on lore, but I haven't really found much yet.)

we still need to clear up the matter of frost giants now...
And what about Mountain trolls? I was thinking something that would
look like the wampa from star wars...Or would that look too much like
the frost giants (I think we said they would look like Karstag, who
looks like a wampa)

Mountain Giants would be fat hairy men, Frost Giants would basically be a variant of Karstaag.
Kyloes sounds like a good name for our Yaks

No probs...
Ok, we have a lot of animals sorted now, so now we need to figure out
where abouts in skyrim they'll mostly be found (I.e Mountain Lion in
the Jerall Mountains, Mud Crabs by rivers and lakes etc...)
I know this may not be crucial atm but it still needs doing...I'm also
partily doing this so I can edit my post in the "Ingediants for Skyrim"
thread and add some background to all the ingrediants and Misc. Items.
Cheers Everyone

It is hard to say that TOYB, I remember when I first joined, and
finding it impossible to know everything that was going on as
information is spread throughout threads all over the place, a lot of

There is almost 11000 posts in skyrim for oblivion, regardless of
whether or not it is good to read, it isn't really sensible to expect
someone new to know exactly what is going on. It is different if you
have seen things progress from early on. |

No, you're just sleepy

But TOYB, I fail to see the noobishness of his post. It was a perfectly valid question.

Hey yo......Really like the fact that the Frost Giant is being used....anyway
Some of the ideas already espoused in this thread are perfect, I am an
anal ecologist with a bent for the fantastic so I just like to throw in
a completely functioning eco system with credible prey-predator
scenarios....as you are all aware we all have our little hobbies
I just recommend updating the first post with editing what is up to
date for a start, sorry to throw work your way siegfried, but scanning
through and changing what has been agreed and disagreed upon would be
cool.....
I do have some ideas, though most of them are covered with the wolves,
bears and deer section....the sabre tooth tiger intrigued me and made
me ponder, so just to start (because I am not sure how relevant this is
going to all be, I dont know who is responsible for scripting and
placing all this)
A mini theme that could be used is that of throwbacks...animals in
colder environments tend to grow larger, and the northern parts of
Tamriel are also quite severe, so animals of a more ancient line would
make the area feel a bit more unique
I suggest having some less common spawns that include Megatherium deer,
sabre tooth tigers, cave bears, dire boar, perhaps a striped dire lion
and if possible (i have no idea) wooly Rhino
I cant remember the name exactly used by the Kye are also an excellent idea, a quest to tame one as a mount could be cool
There is more, much more and in detail, but I dont know how it will be
received or how useful it is or if anything has already been sealed in
stone
Thank you, and Good Night

I agree, we could have a few rare types of deer (as wall as boars,
bears and wolves). Come up with some names (for the deer) and a general
description of their appearance and I will add them to the OP if there
are no objections.
The Megatherium is also a great idea, it will fit very well into Skyrim I think.
Wooly Rhino eh? Maybe someone can do a concept on a creature like that and we'll see how well it fits in.

How about having a Pixie creature in Skyrim? I'm not thinking of the
small flying people that play tricks on villagers (though that might be
a good idea for another creature), but more of a combination between a
Pixie and a Succubus.
There already is a creature similar to the Succubus in lore (the Daedra
Seducer), but this one would be different. It won't be of daedric
origin and it won't be evil in the traditional sense, it will be more
like a Spriggan. The Pixie will also resemble a Siren in a way,
playful, but with an ultimate goal of luring men to it in order to
drain their life force. It will be a female spirit (though there
probably should be a male counterpart too), only transforming into a
corporeal form in order to lure people to it. When it is in spirit form
it will resemble a Willow-o-Wisp in many ways (being very hard to kill
without magic for one).
When in corporeal form the Pixies will appear as magically beautiful
women and men. They will appear playful and never angry in an evil way.
The life force of humans would be like food to them (like blood is to
Vampires). A Pixies won't be able (or even try) to seduce the player or
an NPC if they are of the same sex as the corporeal form of the Pixie
spirit. While the Pixie spirit doesn't have a gender, it's corporeal
form does. Every spirit has either a male or a female corporeal form.
The Pixie will cast spells like charm, calm humanoid, command humanoid
(maybe), paralyze, drain health and drain magical. For the spells to
have a better effect on the player they will be scripted to have a high
dependency on the players willpower as the Pixie's magic is a form or
hypnosis and subliminal mental suggestion. The spells might even be
scripted to have a whispery song-like sound when cast.
The Pixies themselves should have an echoing, but pleasant sounding
voice. They will be able to talk, but they will almost never talk to a
human... unless it is for feeding purposes, in which case it would be
more like magical persuasion trough speech.
Also Pixies will almost always be encountered alone, with no other
pixies around them. The only things that might lurk around a Pixie are
Willow-o-Wisps. And finally they will be rare and hard to find
creatures, mostly encountered in forest.
For the technical details I was thinking of modifying the Spriggan
model and textures, but there are no male Spriggan's so that's out of
the picture I guess. They can also be made as a new race, the wood
elves would be a good place to start. The textures will be modified as
well as the body proportions and perhaps the face gen parameters.
So what do you think? Oh and they don't have to be called Pixies at all, we can come up with an original name if needed.

Downscaling the spriggan, then adding a particle effect, then giving it
the Imps animations, and upscaling the speed would give a nice pixish
effect.

But what about male Pixies? The Pixie shouldn't be very small when in
corporeal form though, it should be around the size of a Bosmer.

We don't need both genders, it's a waste of time and also whos to say
they have to genders? There are only female Spriggans, there are only
male miontaurs (Except the one you can find in your meshes of the one
pregnant minotaur female that was never implemented).

The don't have genders, it's just a mask. But the reason genders are
important is because Pixies lure their victims in a slightly sexual
manner... by promising the victim all he/she could ever want if you
will.

Why is using a race a bad idea? True, it's better to use a creature, but that way we will need a model for the male version.
And don't you think the female players will be jealous if there is no one around to seduce them and drain their vital energies.

You have failed to persuade me.
We have enough time to make male versions as this is not a priority by
any means... if the Pixies are a race it would be very easy.

Yes but downsacle races always ends up looking horible, also that means
it is possible to talkj to them and if a race is too small it doesn't
zoom into their heads.
Also you have failed to persuade me.

I didn't say anything about downscaling them, they will be Bosmer
sized. The textures will be what's new, as well as the eyes... and a
shader effect. You won't be able to talk to them because they will be
hostile to you... the option of talking to them for quest purposes will
also remain open (and that is impossible to do with creatures).

If they are bosmer sized it is pointless as they are really just filling the shoes of spriggans which we already have.

How can you possibly be seduced by anything smaller then a Bosmer?
Also Spriggans aren't playful and beautiful, they are psychotic. |
Um actually they are described as beautiful woodland spirts, resembling trees.
Also size doesn't matter.

They might be described as "beautiful woodland spirts", but they certainly don't look like ones.
Size doesn't matter?!
On what planet? Would you fall in love into a woman that is 15 cm tall?

Hmmp. I've always thought Kylie Minogue was quite attractive.
But don't the Falmer and Reiklings sort of fill the role you're describing anyway?

No, not in the least. Falmer are just extinct elves (Snow Elves) and
the Reiklings are short goblin-like creatures and they are butt-ugly.
