So, what guilds will exist in Valenwood.
Mages' Guild is a must.
Fighters' Guild?
Thieves' Guild?
Dark Brotherhood?
Arena?
Will there be an equivilant of Great Houses where only one can be joined?
Some Temple or Religion? |
Here is what I think:
Mages Guild
Fighters Guild (or use a different one e.g BWC)
No Thieves guild but a different type of guild
DB
Mora Tong
Arena (The questline for this will be the original one for the MQ of TES1: Arena)
Great Houses will remain under debate (here seems like a good place)
Temple probably

Also, we can have the Thieves' Guild a little more violent as it is
pretty much an entirely seperate entity than its counterparts...
Blackwood was in Leyawiin because that is closest to the Blackwood
region... Blackwood had a little to do with Black Marsh you see...
Can't quite remember at the moment though...
Arena sounds good!
My God, this 60 seconds before being able to post is bugging me so much!
Great Houses and Temple are kind of Morrowind names, so we could scour
the lore for something like the Great Houses... As for the Temple, the
Green Pact could be very good for that. |
Ahh ok about MT.
By blackwood I meant using a different name, not exactly blackwood
How about tribes instead of great houses? The four main tribes,
Green pact, not bad.

I like the idea about four main tribes... Maybe a little like Ashlanders?

Ashlanders are rural, we will have plenty of rural tribes, I want these
to be bigger, only living in trees, they use magic to manipulate the
branches to make their homes (AHA now I need exterior and interior
models, anyone up for this?).

Don't get too far ahead of yourself... We need to plan this out a
little first... A core decision I'd suggest, to get varied opinions.
We'd also need concept art... No, I can't draw.

Give me a layout for the poll and I will add one (not sure what type of poll you want).

I think it is too early for that, but it should be discussed in detail
first... THEN the poll... Because this is actually a pretty big
decision, and there may be lore reasons why this isn't such a good
idea... I like your eagerness to get this on its way, but I think it is
too early for modelling and polls of this sort of thing. If we had a
Lore Meister, that would be a great plus for us, so we knew if anything
was breaking the lore, and for lore reference... Speaking of quests and
stuff, what's the Main Quest going to be about?

We are borrowing the idea for the MQ from Maggon. Some things will be
changed and swaped around as you can probably imagine. Let me go fish
the thread out for you and I will post the idea here.
EDIT:
“...there are signs of other forces stirring. The Wild Hunt has been
sighted for the first time in over five hundred years, although to what
purpose is not yet clear. Falinesti, the “walking city” of trees, has
rooted itself for the first time in recorded history. A new Bosmer
prophet has arisen, known only as the Precursor, who preaches that the
old forest god Y’ffre is returning with new gifts for his favored
people. Whether these are isolated events, or signs of some great
change in Valenwood, remains to be seen.”
-“A Pocket Guide to the Empire and its Environs”
The “Rise of the Precursor” will attempt to create the sprawling
landscape of the home to the Bosmer within the Oblivion Engine. Through
this world, we will tell an epic story woven into the lore of the land,
that our hero (whoever you may be) will become completely entangled in.
A tender diplomatic situation has arisen between Cyrodiil and
Valenwood, requiring the most delicate of touches. Chancellor Ocato has
chosen you, of all Cyrodiil, to act as their ambassador, and represent
the council of elders in this matter. The matter, concerns an
individual known as the Precursor, a prophet who speaks of the return
of Y’ffre and is causing quite a stir among the population. Some
follow, some are skeptical, and others claim heresy. No matter the
view, the situation is extremely fragile. Certain officials in
Valenwood have asked for assistance from several of the surrounding
nations. Cyrodiil has answered the call.
It will become readily apparent that the situation in Valenwood is
worse than anyone would like to admit. Fear is running rampant through
the land from the recent events and strange reports of vicious attacks
have been working their way through the local gossip circles. The last
thing the population wants is an outlander sticking his or her nose
into the sacred affairs of the Bosmer people.
The governors of the Valenwood citadels have come together for the
first time in over 20 years as Valenwood’s stability crumbles even
further. They fear that the weight of these simultaneous events will
soon be too much for the shoulders of the great Valenwood forest to
bear. They have come to a decision that you must take on the task of
bodyguard for this so-called prophet. You are to keep the Precursor
from harm at all costs. You are to remain at the Precursor’s side and
be prepared for anything. One of the councilors takes you aside and
asks you to report the Precursor’s actions only to him, and to take an
amulet that will allow you to charm the prophet into being candid with
you.
They tell you where the prophet was last seen, but also say that their
other agents have stopped reporting in recently. They worry something
might happened to them. You will travel deep into Valenwood to find
this person. You will see sights that not even your dreams could
manifest. You will fight strange new creatures and explore the darkest
depths of the land. You will meet new and as-of-yet undiscovered races
and you will wrestle with a nightmarish conspiracy that reaches back to
the very origins of mer and men.
None of this, however, will prepare you for what the Precursor will
show you. The time of Y’ffre is nigh, and all manner of creature will
bow before its majesty...
Oh where are my manners, this was written by Edgefilm

I like the story (the parts I've read), but it seems dangerously a
little bit like I'm going to be the side-kick kind of thing... Overall
it's pretty good though. I would try to implement your tribes into the
main quest if the tribes are going to be a joinable faction, as with
the other factions so that everything is affected by the main
storyline... Again, it should be discussed before we get into the
details, but I'm just stating my opinion.

Sorry didn't reply sooner, playing around with Geocontrol. Perhaps, but
again we can change some stuff around, I'm not worrying to much about
the MQ or guilds at this point, when we have a demo. Then we can think
about it some more. Nothing is final yet.
But this is an ideas thread right? So lets post ideas.

The idea seems good, however I can see players saying this "Another
Prophet, I don't care about htis guy..." I think we may need to try to
keep the story intact, while changing a few things around.

So off the topic of MQ and on the topic of Guilds:
Mages guild
Thieves Guild (an overhaul of it, something different to the normal one, Name: The Forest Bandits?)
Fighters Guild (also think there should be a different name for this one, The Rangers or something?)
Dark Brotherhood
The various tribes of Valenwood
The Pakt (deliberate spelling, Valenwood version of the Temple)
A Velenwood version of the Legion
And perhaps another shady/killing guild?
Can everyone agree on the above? If we all can I can post them up for Claiming.

Imga playable, Orcs live in Valenwood yes. The Imga, I was thinking
strip the Troll, put it upright, take away the third eye, and viola,
our Imga is created, plus a re-text probably. It wouldn't be such a
hard job, anyone here up to it?
I never thought about the Imga/Orc tribes, maybe even have specific guilds for Imga. They will be our first playable race
. Yeah Krisi is right goblins = hostile, but we can make a goblin
retext. Or would that not be necesary considering they are pretty green
already?
Anyway, post up some ideas for Orcs and Imga factions/guilds and if
everyone is ok with the above list (Krisi I think we should include the
DB, you know, maybe it's expanding? Maybe when you join you must help
it expand, by fair or foul means e.g. "convince" the mayor of
Southpoint (just using e.g.) to let them "operate", stuff like that) I
will post them up for claiming.

the DB can be joinable but you could not be Silencer, Speaker,
Lisener(sp). The DB is in all of Tamriel operating from Cyrodiil...

I think (if anyone has completed the DB Questline), it's pretty obvious
the DB operates throughout Tamriel, because when you
******Possible DB Quest Spoilers******
Talk to the Night Mother, she tells you about people praying to her in
all of the provinces. Since it wouldn't be very efficient to send
people back and forth from Cyrodiil, it can only be logical there are
DB Sanctuaries in the provinces. |

Anyway, a Fighters' Guild I hear? Yay! I love the Fighters' Guild! Make
sure to have the first quest do with rats (something different though

How about the rats are in the FG this time, and everyone is too scared
to kill them, or, umm, nope all I got . . . . Anyway, for the DB you
can still rise to the top rank of it in that area
******SPOILER*******
Didn't ALL the Speakers get killed????? So you can rise to speaker. Can
there be no multiple Listeners? I mean one Listener can't cope with ALL
the bases in each province, so every province has it's own Listener, is
that ok with everyone? (oh and I am getting things right aren't I?
Listener is the highest rank atainable?)

Spoiler
Listener is highest.. and yes the speakers got killed but the speakers
is in Cyrodiil to normal... There can only be one listener and he needs
to be in Cyrodiil to speak to the Night Mother and he Cope with ALL
bases in each province

Wait, wait, let me remember the hierarchy.
There's the Black Hand, the listener is the PC. There is one speaker,
the High-Elf that gives you the weekly earnings. The player killed the
Silencers, and the traitor killed the speakers, except for yourself.
Then the Night Mother promotes you to Listener. That leaves 3 spots for
Speakers. Perhaps the auxiliary DB Sanctuaries have been notified to
search for prominant members to replace the Speakers? Then the highest
rank you can reach is Speaker Candidate, that way the future of the DB
is left uncertain, so it doesn't mess around with any future games. |

no. The player killed the speakers, and the listeners all gathered
together, some of which were killed by the traitor in the night mothers
tomb.

All were killed besides the woman that gives you the money I think. I
was wondering, would the PC really bother rising to Speaker when the PC
is already a Listener?

Two conversations at once:
1st conversation:
I don't know... That's why I think we should either have a lead
assassin type thing, or not have them joinable. Either way, they should
exist.
2nd conversation:
Good morning, it is almost 5:00 in the morning where I am, what time is it in Ireland?

well the player would just be after to get more out of the game so yes..
There is 4 speakers and 1 listener and 5 silencers to normal.. and DB
should probably just be like the other mods have it some mic. DB quest
and a companion... who can be ranked Silencer when Listener/Speaker and
only available at those ranks..

Ok then so it is settled. Now we need some tribe names. One more thing,
in Dance in the Fire it mentions Centaurs? Emm, should we do something
with them? Include them? not include them?.

Centaurs are ancient and mysterious creatures, alternately worshipped
and despised. Legends of their exploits range from the epic to the
pornographic, perhaps for no better reason than they have varied
personalities. The Council of Artaeum have called the Centaurs "true
followers of the Old Ways" of Tamriel, referring to the complex system
of ancestor worship that Artaeum itself espouses. All that one can
certainly say about Centaurs is that in battle there are few who are
equal.
