Ok, no DB. Everything is new, besides the Fighters and Mages. Sound
good? Maybe the thieves guild (VW version, not acctualy called the TG)
will include tree top roberies, or the like. I like the idea of all
new.

Like a Robin Hood type faction? Give to rich and steal from the poor...

ummm, fighters guild quest = no rats. Try giant squirrels!
DB 'course they are in Valenwood, questio is just joinable or no?
The point about joinable is that it gives you a different informational potential.
The big let down with Ob to my mind is that the Heart of the Empire
should be the most complex location possible where all the races vie
for dominance....
Valenwood / Prophet? Well why not? Maybe this is a time of Phophesy
everywhere in Tamriel? Not in Cyrodiil you say? What if there is a
Prophet there but the player's path never took him/her near the Prophet
because the player's tasks were largely irrelevant to the Prophecy?
Valenwood - is the place of Elven chiaroscuro - where the nature of the
mer is tied into the ruthless and chillingly feral heart of the clean
and vibrant forest.
The presentation of further prophesy should be acceptable if done with
sufficient subtlety and power. Also it has to be representative of
something entirely new (and very different to the Morrowind theme) that
takes the player into the mysteries of the forest, beyond the
machinations of Hircine, reaching... into the reasons for and the
nature of the Pact perhaps - everything has consequences and reasons...
The true heart of Cyrodiil is of course the Dragon ... and the heart of
Morrowind are the Good Daedra, so what is the heart of Valenwood? Once
we have defined that and worked on the lines that spin from it we will
have the defining characteristics for this mod and our essential guilds.
When we look at guilds we must also consider skills and attributes -
and the nature of Valenwood experience. I suggest trees = climbing,
hiding, tracking and the bow.
tracking? absolutely - this should be a core skill - a new skill only
available to the player here in Valenwood - and 'given' to the player
by whatever 'power' sponsors him/her so that he/she can bring about
it's desired outcome... heh, heh bu***r the cumpuss!

DB should not be its own branch... with other words depending on
Cyrodiil faction.. (I cant see why everybody think no DB! people love
DB!)
Skills is hardcoded (isn't?) so we will have to use the lesser power to check how good you are stuff...
Heart of Valenwood... do you mean leader or beliefs?
and NO RATS? why not?

There was a unarmored skill mod that had a little token that you
carried around and it leveled up and it was just like a skill. I think
that was made by Galerion (sp?) someone should check up on that.

How many of you think The Rangers could replace the TG? OR come up with a name someone.
Also, I have a tribe of exiles outside Arenthia, they are direct
decendant from the King Arenthia but they aren't recognised, so I have
a mini questline getting them back into the palace.

I think we should find out what our band of thieves are before coming up with a name.

How about this. Sugar Lip Habasi decided to leave the TG, because of
the . . . . restrictions. She set up her own guild in Valenwood called
The Marauders guild. Sound good?

Hehe, Krisi you really should. Oblivion has better combat (IMO) but
Morrowind is more satisfyingto play, like Telvanni architecture, that
is amazing. Or vivec (even though Beth had a better plan for I still
love that city) The guilds are more fun and there is more of them.
Morrowind is a game you have to own (thats right, get your ass to the
shop and buy the GOTY edition, it's only 10$)

Wait I thought Valenwood was the home of the wood elves , I may be
wrong but I thought wood elves like it in the woods. So shouldn't they
have like a rangers guild or something outdoorsy. |

As for GreatHouse Ideas you could have Clans since they are major in
Valenwood after reading many books ingame. You could say have 4 or 3
clans and you could only join 1. And do quests to expand
power/wealth/troops/influence/trades outside the province/ambushing
other clans caravans/attacking strongholds such as tree or ground based
strongholds/ weapon dealings such as bone trades and what not build
treasuries too hide certain stuff and it just goes on infact I wouldn't
mind claiming a clan if you accept this and coming up with the Names
and skills they like and what not.

Probably, but there are also a number of Imperial Guilds
(foreigners)... But there will indeed be Wood Elf native guilds and
stuff included in this list, now that I think of it, a Hunters Guild
wouldn't be too out of place here...

I am sure I have mentioned Rangers several times now
Also EbonyKnight, 4 main clans was what I was thinking aswell, if you would like to claim a clan that I wouldn't mind at all.
Quests would need to be put off for later, but the main layout (what was mentioned in your post) would be great.

Looks sound to me, but two things: 1) High Elf Lords of Western
Valenwood? I have not seen this anywhere 2) All these clans are like
the Imperial guilds, Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thives Guild. At
number 2 we come to a problem.
The Imperial do have a presence in Valenwood (although not a big one)
so that would mean they have their guilds there. Do we drop the
Imperial guilds in favour of the clans, but thinking about it a
different way. You can only join one.
But will people notice the similarities and think we just ripped off
the Imperial guilds (not saying that you did that Ebony, but other
people that do not frequent here may think so).

I think we should stick with at least the FG and the MG. TG isn't
really nessecary, in Morrowind they weren't very strong too, so why not
compleetly gone in Valenwood. I don't think the TG could compete with
the native Bosmer.(and I don't think the Khajiit memeber would stick
around long...)
But I like 4 clans, joinable like the Great Houses of Morrowind. I
think a rangersguild in the woods is to obvious and doesn't really fit
into Valenwood. What about a vampire"guild"? Only joinable as a
vampire.

So what do we call them, brothers of Tree-Sap? Hmm, no TG I think.
Whats the point of TG in Valenwood? Where everyone steals stuff, I
think a clan more focused on illegal get and supply is much better than
a TG.
The main problem I had with the clans were the rank names for the magic
focused clan, it really rang of the MG. Things would be much easier if
we could just go original and not have any Imperial guilds. I'm not
saying no presence at all, just that they all gave up trying to work in
Valenwood.
