That might be the easiest and fastest way and for the moment it is the one I'd prefer.

I'd like to know what you mean with "enhanced" before I can comment on that

3 - Completely new Hlaalu-like models built from scratch
Definitely the most creative, but also the most time-consuming way. And it would depend (at least IMHO) that we get a bunch of highly skilled modellers together ... and I remember that good modellers have been worth their weight in gold - and mostly had projects of their own running (Lady E. and Proudfoot anyone? )

4 - Imperial buildings from Oblivion's stock library
Right now it is a no-no from me, because I'd like to see Silgrad as a Dunmer town.

Hopefully we will see more screenies of buildings in times to come so we might get a hunch what we will be given.

And maybe someone in the community is working on something like point 1 or 2 so that there will be ressource packs for those who want to transfer their mods from TES 3 to TES 4.

Looks like a tie between you and Val on poll or no poll. Let me know what you decide and I'll make one, and explain all the options thoroughly

1. Yup, and the low poly counts are easy on the framerate to boot, making room for a lot of other nice things.

2. By enhanced I meant a basic model made more intricate and 'cool' by upping the poly count, adding more 3D detail, etc. Basically just generally "improve" it in 3DSM.

3. Well Hlaalu is the least complicated building style, so that might help.

Apart from Imperial, Nord are semi-announced. I'm sure you've seen that screenshot.

Well, I think the design part should be discussed pobably when Oblivion come out, because it we can't make the city as narrow and compact as is was now, because of framerate, then the design will need to be altered (streets widened).

Also, the issue came up that Silgrad didn't look like it was built into the geography, but the geography was all grown around it.

I just think, maybe some small, minor alterations could be made? Such as hills?
But yes, I do agree that the design is very good, and I have also come to remember nearly everything about it. :]

My opinion is we'll discuss it now, and I believe we know everything we need to know to decide on it. The frame rate would only be a problem if models from Oblivion are used; cramming 200+ Hlaalu buildings into four exterior cells worked in Morrowind, and using those models (with hi-res textures) in Oblivion will be a walk in the park for anyone meeting Oblivion's system requirements : o)

My point isn't to arrive at a list of 500 steps we will follow in exact order to rebuild Silgrad city; the point is, What do we want to do? If we know (vote) what we want to do, then it's just a question of altering the other factors to suit our vote. At least that's my viewpoint on the matter.

But if I make a poll, I will certainly include an option about postponing the decision until after Oblivion's release. )
