I was very afraid I?d overhyped the game and that I?d be dissapointed because of it (never anticipated a game this much and heard it was a common syndrome), but the game is all I had expected it to be and much more!!!
It?s totally awesome!! I was totally hooked after killing the first two rats!

Danath and I don't care for it. It's too cumbersome, too restrictive, and a lot of other problems. It looks good, but only so far as the graphic detail. Colorwise it's rather drab and boring in the cities. The houses are just plain.. plain. Not much for color once you go indoors. The horses look good but usability is poor. The new inventory and merchant systems.. simply blow. Verrrrrrry cumbersome and slow.
One thing that's really bothering both of us is .. you can make a goblin look like a pin cushion, literally and it's health hardly goes down. Now, if realism is what they were aiming for, the blasted thing would have bled to death. There were so many arrows in one that they were even sticking out from between his fingers! Had to hit him with a magic spell to kill him. Now that's ridiculous! Unarmed NPC's .. well that's laughable. You can chop them up with a sword like waring blender and they'll still get up! LOL The best part though was falling under the world in the sewer system and looking up into the models of the buildings. Not the interiors mind, just the exterior models of course.. but you were inside the empty exterior meshes. lol That was crazy. Be very careful about falling into things too because no levitation means you may have to reload to a previous game just to get out of a hole. Very sloppy. I'm hoping for patches to fix some of this cuz honestly.. we are NOT impressed.

Quote:Originally posted by Galrina Whoever said that there is no levitation is lying. I went to the priory and found out that there is a constant levitation spell working. Look ... and yep, that is in-game, no meddling with the CS. If that is no levitation, I don't know. Greetings Quentin
That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs, but what a ship is - what the Black Pearl really is - is freedom.

I don't know what we can do about the floating fruit, but I'm pretty sure that the modding community will be able to add most of what's lacking at this point in Oblivion, and that includes us. Do we want more immersion, then let's make sure that our mods have it!
Already people have posted mods changing the arrow speeds to depend on the type of arrow used. I also saw a mod listed upping the speed of all spell-casting. There are mods out that shift the rate of leveling down to make the game harder to just breeze through. There are mods to get rid of fast travel and every feature of the compass. Today, I saw a mod that is intended to remake the inventory window into something less consolish and better for PC gamers. And all of that is within the first week of release! In short, we're going from a game that's had three years of fan-tweaking in graphics, gameplay, and realism to something fresh out of the oven. But this time, the modders already know their stuff, and I think that we'll be seeing the best of the old features returning in fairly short order. Let's just keep up our landscaping and plotting so that when the features we want arrive, we'll be ready to incorporate them for the good of everyone. |
